  1. James, Thanks! I got it to work one time, then I was deadly at hitting stuff for awhile until my game crashed. So I restarted the game and then I started having issues with the bore sight. I don't know if it is related, but take a look at the pictures below. I use TrackIR. When I try to bore sight I am thinking that the circles should be close to concentric at this head position. That is how they were the first time I did a bore sight and in the YouTube videos I watched. But, they are only concentric at this head position. Of course, the gun is way off and I can't hit a thing. Any ideas? Caldera
  2. Hey All, I find it easier to fly than the Huey, especially concerning VRS. By comparison the Apache is a saint and the Huey is a devil. But I do have a question about a certain flight characteristic I have noticed. This thing wants to and often does an immediate departure from normal flight. What I mean is that it can do the fastest snap roll of any aircraft that I ever had the pleasure to simulated fly in. Is that actually realistic? It is also one tough MoFo as it has the ability to fall what seems like forever, bounce on its wheels like a cat, and keep right on going. That is a pro, not a con. Below is a picture of me mowing the grass for free. The engines where still on, the main rotor was spinning in the green(although the blades where much shorter), the tail rotor was balanced safely above the turf and I was perfectly perched on the mast spindle. I guess... Don't try this at home boys and girls. Caldera
  3. Hey All, Seems I have terrible luck. If I aim the IHADSS cross hair directly at the target the gun seem to always miss to the right. Below is a quick snapshot that I got of this behavior. (not an easy thing to do btw) Any ideas about what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance, Caldera
  4. Zero, Yes, I am struggling with trim. I even tried an X-56 that I have with the springs taken out. I guess I liked the slewable trim in the Huey much better. At least I could work it off easier, and I did not need the dang controls monitor screen up all the time. The force trim also effects the rudder (thrust) at the same time so things can really get out of wack in a hurry. Brunner CLS-E? Caldera
  5. FiveWire, I am not the only one who thinks WHOT and BHOT are reversed. Take a look at these pictures Caldera
  6. Dporter, BigNewy - Patch Notes: Posted March 17 DCS Open Beta 2.7.11.21408.1 <snip> Added a new FLIR rendering system for AH-64D, F-16C, F/A-18C, and A-10C/A-10C II. <snip> I get the feeling that the FLIR TGP MAV TADS has been and is an ongoing project from some time now. The new clouds seem to mess with allot of stuff and I am guessing made things pretty difficult to correct. I just wished that there was more Alpha testing before release to Beta. Caldera
  7. LOL Same... Caldera
  8. Hey All, I eventually figured this out, with help of course. Evidently the mission I had been using had a track file in the configuration that I did not realize. Caldera
  9. Thanks Jay, That sounds about right. Guess it is just another waiting period. Any chance you are flying the AH-64D? I have not figured out how to use the TADS just yet and I was wondering how it looked. Caldera
  10. So... I figured out the above picture, some how the SYM adjustment got cross wired with my zoom HOTAS control. Most likely just a glitch. Pictures at Abu Musa at night just for a test. I no longer own the night... Caldera
  11. Razo, Yes I saw that thread, but I was more interested in making sure it was just not me. I have had that problem in the past. The picture below gets weirder, what would I have done to cause the TGP to do this? Caldera
  12. Hey all, Since the last update the TGP has gotten allot harder for me to use. I do not know if it is me or how it in general looks. Please take a look at the pictures of some infantry taken on Abu Musa island. Of course, the BHOT and the WHOT are reversed. The cross hairs for WHOT are LOA and any adjustment to make them visible seem to make CCD and BHOT more unusable. The MAV screen suffers the same fate with white cross hairs, but I can select black cross hairs. Is this what you guys are seeing or is it just me? Thanks in advance, Caldera
  13. Hey All, I have been using multiple monitors almost as long as I have been playing DCS, because I have vision issues. I use the second monitor for the MFD's. It works very well for me in the A-10C and the F-16C. For the AH-64D it also works, but only when I am in the front seat. Does anyone know how to make these MPD's work on the second monitor from the back seat and / or be able to switch them back and forth on the fly? Thanks in advance, Caldera
  14. Thanks Jay! Realizing the whole original topic is a mute point... I do remember walking into my control room, with on the order of 20 or so LCD computer screens scattered around the room. I was wearing a pair of $8 Wal-Mart specials. These were really cheap fishing sunglasses and the cheapest that I could find, but they worked pretty good. Some of the screens were indeed blacked out and some were just fine. By turning my head 90 degrees I could get the opposite effect across the room glancing at the screens. With my small capacity cranial cavity, for some reason I found that doing this over and over was some what entertaining. I believe that those sunglasses were strictly polarized in a single direction, because the effect was so dramatic. Much like having a single rotatable polarizing lens on an older SLR camera that you could find the direction for the best filtration effect by rotating the lens. Or like wise, rotating it to remove the filtration effect. I have heard that Ray-Bans (or some such better quality lenses) have polarizing filters in multiple directions. That is why they work quite a bit better in most conditions (over just the cheapos) and typically are really amazing. They also seem to need to be not as dark. As I think that it is the polarizing filter(s) effect that blocks the light, not just strictly the darkness of the lens. Other than that I have no clue. FWIW, I hardly got bothered if I accidentally dropped the cheapos over the side vs a pair of high dollar Ray-Bans. But a story for another day... Caldera
  15. Hey All, Do any of you guys fly the AV-8B? For me, that module is the the worst of the bunch I have tried. It is like looking through dirty eye glasses all the time for me. I quit playing with the module for that very reason. I guess I have buyers regret to some extent. Hence I have "Whine, on" in my pre-start check list. I have not had a decent pair of "anti-reflection" glasses in quite a while. But I fish allot, and when I used them, I do know that a major part of the glare goes away and I can see fish (in up to 30 feet) that I would not otherwise be able to even notice (if the water is clear). The horizon line just jumps out piercing right through the haze. I do not remember seeing that much gunk on my truck windows ever (referring to the AV-8B). And.. I am not Mister Clean. A quick search regarding LCD screens: "Thankfully, there’s an easy fix: Turn the screen 90 degrees in either direction. This will align the polarizing filter on your screen with the one on your sunglasses, and the light from your screen will be able to pass through to your eyes." Saying all that that, I have zero experience with bubble canopies and I am not a private pilot. Simulating a lousy ground crew? I am not trying to rack on the Marines, but the simulated Air Force ground crews for the A-10C-2 deserve a meritorious award by comparison. Caldera
  16. Ahah Ahah Thanks Guys! Caldera
  17. Hey all, I noticed some usually stuttering, then I noticed the below. This was taken on the Nevada map A-10C-2. I have a feeling that If I had left the game running it would have crashed. I had restart my PC to get this to reset as every time I re-entered the game it was the same. This is how it should look. I guess it is just not a perfect world... Caldera
  18. Reflected, Thanks! I was not re-locking the primer pump handle and I had already figured out the blown engine thing. Caldera
  19. Hey All, Why does the RPM jump around so much? I find that it is enough to torque the whole air craft. Is behavior normal? Caldera
  20. Hey All, I have recently been noticing a weird thing happening and I can not explain to myself why. Basically, my FPS takes a nose dive and I notice lower CPU utilization. I am hard capped at 50 FPS. These screen shots are taken west of Batumi in the A-10C ii just cruising along and suddenly it just happened. It just as quickly recovered... Low FPS Low CPU usage TGP on Normal FPS Normal CPU TGP on I first noticed it occurring on The Channel map sitting at High Halden ready for take off in a P-47D. I was getting either 50 FPS or 25-35 FPS. I remember seeing the CPU in the teens. But, the effect was the same with Low FPS and Low CPU. It seemed that when the CPU went back to normal so did the FPS. Anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance, Caldera
  21. Rogue, Yes... I agree that the effect is totally superb. It is phenomenal really. And I do realize this is a IRL effect. I have noticed it many times watching aircraft videos (and driving my car). These videos are typically done with a GoPro camera or some such. There is not a filter used on the camera that I can tell and these effects are what you would most likely see if you were not wearing any sort of eye covering. This is typically, not the case post WW2? I am sure that a pair of expensive Ray-Ban's would take care of a great deal of it or even a very cheap pair of polarized fishing glasses, no less a modern jet pilots helmet face shield. FWIW these eye coverings do not always need to be dark to be very effective. The DCS simulation misses that part. That is my point. Caldera
  22. Now that's funny. If only it were so easy... Caldera
  23. Hey All, I know this probably sounds pretty silly and I don't really know. How well do VR Shaders like Kegetys or 3DMigoto work on flat monitors? Thanks in advance, Caldera
  24. Silver, Yes, the outside lighting has a large effect. The Mod that Taz suggested, it will fail IC unfortunately. But it sounds inspiring with even a substantial FPS gain. But it is either use that or no MP for many servers. And... I guess this effect has been an in place for quite a few years and I am just the one of the latest victims to not really enjoy it. There has been no in game solution or alternative. This is a picture from a AV-8B west of Batumi at 0815 and gave me a serious WTFO moment. Guess what it is I am looking at? The effect seems a bit overdone if not allot overdone, maybe it works and looks better in VR. I do not know. I kind of doubt a that pilot wearing a visor would ever notice this much effect. I call it the "GoPro effect". I have seen similar views out the side of the P-51D. Like you said, once I start to notice this effect it becomes about all I focus on and ruins my immersion. As for the AV-8B, for this one effect, I am starting wish that maybe that I had decided not to purchase. Other than that, the module is allot of fun. Caldera
  25. Silver, F-16C default F-16C with options changed Buzz, This is my system options Maybe some one could suggest a mod? Caldera
