Great point swift, I'm hoping to see this changed as well. @Krebs20, they've stayed green and yellow for me in beta 2. I have yet to check all vehicles, but russian t80 was spitting up yellow and green for me
-
Damn Toby23, that terrain looks outrageously good
-
I'm not in the know on this one, but I think it would be safe to assume that ED will be adding the appropriate ground objects and buildings
-
Couldn't agree with you more StrongHarm, can't wait to see what ED does with this map

Saitek X-52 or Thrustmaster Cougar?
SmokeyTheLung replied to dane48's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
As MadDog points out; my opinion is all but useless because I haven't owned both products. But I will say that the x-52 pro is quite usable in both DCS games, and every other flying game I've tried. I'm sure the purists will disagree but I would say go with the x-52. Just don't expect a perfect HOTAS setup... -
Yea, that's a heavy piece of footage. "Oh dude" sounds about right. I can't seem to get this kind of precision with in-game LGBs. If I slew the TGP around well lasing and while the weapon is in flight the bombs become wildly inaccurate. Probably user error/but perhaps due to WIP
-
Interesting Sobek, that has to do with the "bang bang" type of guidance, no? Has it been your experience that LGBs can be redirected, say 50-100m, in mid flight?
-
Do you guys use the auto-lase function? Or do you give the weapon a few seconds to fall and then manually lase? I'm not 100% sure on the advantages/disadvantages. I have noticed that I can't really effectively redirect my LGBs once they're in the air. This is sort of remedied by using manual lase and waiting a few seconds to start guiding the weapon. (perhaps operator error/WIP)

1.Select Maverick on MFCD 2.Look under your HUD at the keyboard (UFC) 3.Click whatever number corresponds to the desired slew rate (1-5) 4.On the MFCD displaying maverick feed look for button that says "slew rate" and click it. It's that simple! now using the maverick, well that's a different story...;)

@t-bone, goes to show how little I know about such things... ;) I am a little suprised to here that though, to my inexperienced eye the base texture in the the Black Sea map looks Alot more detailed than the nevada texture. As stated above, just goes to show...
-
Thanks Boberro. Bump mapping seems like a good idea, although the topography of the Nevada map already seems much more detailed than the Black Sea map.
-
Could you explain what "bump mapped" means
-
I've got faith that ED will polish this map up to perfection by adding ground objects, better textures etc. What really blows me away is the intricacy of the base terrain, it's just breath taking. Set some clouds at about 10,000ft, fly at about 20,000 and make it a sunset and your in for a hell of a ride... @andysim Agreed, grand canyon would be awesome. The very end of it is actually in the nevada map, unfortunately however, it's in the "warning no texture zone" @boberro Actually there are quite a few trees, buildings and other ground objects in Nevada (IRL), it would be pretty suprising if ED didn't add them as they polish this beauty up. Check out some google earth images of nevada to get a better sense of the Actually topography and population

Just wanted to report some positive feedback. What a map! Even without ground detail this is proving to be one of the most beautiful maps I've ever experienced, in this and other genres of game. I quite enjoy the Black Sea map, but I must say I love the direction ED map makers are going with the Nevada terrain. The elevation detail seems much more accurate. Can't wait to see this baby polished up! Nice work!

This is the method that had worked for me (assuming you have the gunpac on); Roll into your target and use the ladder on your HUD to get to about -30 degrees Aquire your target and once your steady pull the first stage on your trigger Hold on your target briefly without firing, the GunPac should allow you to push your stuck forward very slightly without changing your course, this way when you depress the second stage of the trigger your holding your nose down This had worked for me, not sure how realistic this is but it gets the job done. On a slightly unrelated note, does anyone know why the TGP moves around when you aim your pipper over it? It seems to jump around when I aim directly at it's line of sight, regardless of SPI or not.

And again a huge disappointemnt

Try opening a checking account and request a debit card. It should work just fine anywhere credit cards are accepted, and you won't have to worry(as much) about excessive account fee's. -
Offical Thrustmaster Warthog Release
SmokeyTheLung replied to StageFright's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Can someone please confirm weather the thrustmaster warthog joystick has a twist axis that can be used for rudders? -
Joystick settings guide for DCS games?
SmokeyTheLung replied to undertheradar's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I could be wrong here but I think you probably need to look into "trim" function -
I'll try that tonight. I'm the one and only user on my pc and as far as I can tell I have administator privileges. I know I can run as admin by right clicking icon but is there a way to set my profile to do so automatically? Edit: thank you

@renato71 yes, is that program notorious for bad downloads? Ok, so after redownloading last night everything seemed fine...the files opened and the setup wizard ran. Three icons were installed on my desktop. Sadly however my troubles are not over... When I try to run the programs I get this message; Error [string"./scripts/database/db_main.lua"]:58:attempt to index a global 'log' (a nil value) Sorry to be such a pest, and thanks again for the help thus far. If anyones got a solution for this please let me know. I'm afraid I'm in for another extra long 8 hour shift today :(
-
re-downloading now. The exe is still called setup(2) though, I can't for the life of me find the original file presumably named "setup"
-
setup1 bin is 1,951,801 kb setup2 bin is 406,134 kb and setup3 bin is 601,357 There seems to be a discrepancy, bad download perhaps? @bengo tried that and got an error message saying corrupt file
-
All the files went into my downloads file. The exe is called setup(2). The message I get says "the file 'setup(2)-1.bin' cannot be found" Not sure what the (2) is about in the exe. Thanks for the help so far, my 8hour shift seemed like an eternity today it be great if I could avoid that tomorrow ;) I'm sure it's painfully obvious how useless I am with my PC so thanks for the replies

Hey all, Purchased the a10c last night, (Took all night to download) I'm just now getting in from work to enjoy and I'm faced with this problem; When I try to open the exe I get a message saying that it can't find the files. I downloaded all 4 files from FTP USA. Has anyone encountered this issue? What can I do to solve this? Any help is appreciated
