  1. The series is complete at seven videos. Thanks again to everybody who checked them out. Axelerator, if it has a function in DCS I have yet to discover it. It is there for flavor as far as I can tell.
  2. Thanks again everybody. :) # 5 and 6 are up. Thanks leafer. There was a bug with the kneeboard that prevented me from doing the 109 when I tried it last. Hopefully I can give it another shot soon.
  3. It sounds like you are doing everything correctly and I remember having that same problem during the mission. The tanks are very close to other objects so I had to try coming in from different angles, either from the water or the hills, in order to lock them up. You also might try setting up the shot from a higher altitude to help stay out of the AAA if you get too close. Again, I believe you are doing it correctly but here is a video just in case:
  4. Thanks folks! Parts 3 and 4 are up. Mrgud, I set them up to orbit at the waypoint. You can either leave them as friendlies or set them to take no action in the editor. I'll do a quick video. Its hard to explain. :)
  5. All seven videos in the Test Flight series for the Fw 190 are up. These series document the process I go through to learn an aircraft from scratch. They are intended more for new players who are looking for a good place to start but I try to include enough info to make it enjoyable for experienced players as well. A good first place to start would be the First Look video from a while back: I'm not opposed to constructive criticism (within reason!) so feel free to interject if you have information that clarifies anything I leave vague or you think would help the intended audience. Other aircraft in the series include: Bunyap Sims Youtube Channel
  6. On the Range #46 and 47 are up covering emergency procedures for hydraulic failures in the A-10C. I hope you enjoy it and there is more to come soon. Bunyap Sims Youtube Channel
  7. On the Range #44 is up covering weapons set-up and dive bombing in the 109. I hope you enjoy it and there is more to come soon. Bunyap Sims Youtube Channel
  8. On the Range #43 is up covering emergency procedures for an engine fire in the A-10C. I hope you enjoy it and there is more to come soon. Bunyap Sims Youtube Channel
  9. Hey, cool mission. I'll have to try that out. I have a lot of videos that cover what you are asking for here: Look for video #5, #7, #8, #9, and #19. They may be information overkill for some but these five cover gun employment in a lot of depth.
  10. Great job! I was actually on the edge of my seat watching how things panned out while you were "heads down" flying on instruments. There is a lot to be learned here. :)
  11. Thanks Cobra! Mbot, I thought for a long time about that and decided to play it safe and go with the MSL mode. The only real source document I have is an english translation of the Bis flight manual from flightmanuals-on-cd.com. It gives details on when it is appropriate to use the gyro setting with guns and rockets but doesn't mention anything about what the gyro setting does for bombing. In fact, it specifically tells you to use the MSL setting when dive bombing in the manual mode. That doesn't mean the gyro mode wasn't appropriate since this was done in the auto mode, but I don't believe it would be any more or less effective. Maintaining a zero bank angle during the delivery is the goal when using my technique so the result should be the same in either case. I guess I am a little skeptical about the effectiveness of any automatically calculated deliveries from any system from this era anyway. This is especially true when you consider the different ballistics that are (or should be) inherent to each type of bomb. I'll probably stick to the manual methods from now on anyway. Videos to follow once I figure out the right angles to input into the sight. ;)
  12. The top post is updated to include the "On the Range" tutorials and is cleaned up a bit with a single link to the Test Flight playlist instead of links to all 17 videos. Thanks again to everybody who is checking them out! (Cobra, or one of the moderators, would it be possible to change the title to "MiG-21Bis Fishbed Preview and Tutorial Videos" to reflect the change? I thought I had that ability but I guess not.) Chief, the pages I was using are attached. I went a little overkill on the resolution and file size but they gave me no trouble. Somebody is bound to come up with something more comprehensive eventually. Eyusuf, sorry but I can't help you there. The video seems to play fine so I have no idea why it won't download. 13. Ok, number 16 and 17 are up. Congrats on the release!
  14. No, unfortunately I had to go back and record the track and TACVIEW to make that happen. :) All three are up so thanks again to everybody who has checked them out.
  15. I actually enjoy them a lot. You can learn a lot from just watching and you would be surprised at how much of the German you can pick up on after a while. :) Great job again!
  16. Yeah, it should be 1080p so something is up with it. Something might have hung up during the Youtube processing. If it doesn't clear up I'll re-upload it in the morning. Sorry about that...
  17. Absolutely. :) I meant to do it right after this but ran out of steam. I should get one in the MiG done this week.
  18. I managed to fly pretty successfully this weekend although what I managed to record could have gone better. I think a lot of my complaints about the resolution are starting to go away as my mind adjusts to being able to see the pixels. Don't get me wrong, it is still not enough resolution, but I had a good time none the less. Has anybody been able to successfully zoom the view in? I think a toggleable "binocular view" would do wonders but can't make anything work. DCS: A-10C Warthog Oculus Rift Mission - Defend Camp Yankee Playlist Of course, here is the Oculus Rift "Quick Look" video from a while back:
  19. This is a mission in three parts flown using the Oculus Rift DK2 in the DCS: World A-10C Warthog module. It is set up as a split screen with my view on the left and an external view on the right. A known limitation in DCS: World prevented an accurate replay of the external view so the blanks were filled in with the TACVIEW program replay. This is a close air support mission where I respond to calls made by a JTAC on the ground. Both the Oculus Rift and the DCS: World support are in their infancy so I do the best I can with the current limitations. It is still very playable and an all around good time as you will see. It is best viewed from this playlist: DCS: A-10C Warthog Oculus Rift Mission - Defend Camp Yankee Playlist Be sure to check out my Oculus Rift "Quick Look" video here: There is a lot more available through these playlists or at the channel main page:

  21. Video #10 is up. I recorded some more covering navigation already so the series will continue every couple days until release.
  22. Videos 11 - 16 coming up next week will cover that. :) lol, Streakeagle, I thought that site died years ago. :) This is the first time in years I have had that same kind of free time. I really missed this stuff.
  23. It is actually quite good with the Rift! I feel like I am going to hurt myself bumping into all the switches and levers. A ton of detail stands out that you just don't notice on a 2D screen. As a (very bad) 3d modeler, I can appreciate the work that went into it. Part 9 is up... The preview is now going to run through at least 16 videos not counting an Oculus Rift mission I'm recording this weekend.
