Any updates on the Hornet, ACLS and MIDS functions?
BlackRook replied to Cytarabine's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
We need a 'Whine' tag for threads. -
correct as is HMD Datalink contacts drifting
BlackRook replied to fylzz's topic in Bugs and Problems
I get this too, watching this thread to see if this is a bug or not. Will try a few different alignment timing changes in the startup procedure. I tend to turn on DL/IFF/TACAN last. -
Hmm. Interesting. Good advice, thank you!

Is there something special (Command, Script, ME Static Placements) that has to happen for cat crews to be present to launch the aircraft?

working as intended Not a bug: F/A-18 AC Ramp placement issue
BlackRook replied to BlackRook's topic in Bugs and Problems
Interesting, thank you for that education! I will study this. I was confused because Wags' video on the ME for the Carrier doesn't mention this. However, this time I rewatched the video, and at the end, the F/A-18s do spawn in The Street. -
As I am now educated on the Street and such, I realize that this is Working as Designed. Thanks to all. v 2.7.9.17830 Setup steps: Mission Editor: new Syria/PG/Cauc mission 1. Place CVN-74 Stennis (though Lincoln and Vinson exhibited same issue) 2. Place a F/A-18C on the carrier and setting WP0 to be 'Takeoff from Ramp'. Results: 1. In ME, the graphic shows the plane at the CAT1 position, cannot unsnap it from that position to any parking area. 2. Plane spawns in center of deck. Deleting both Carrier and Aircraft and recreating does not resolve. Able to reproduce on Syria, Persian Gulf and Caucasus. Able to reproduce with CVN-74, -71 and -70 (stopped testing there).

Hey all, I've searched for this for over an hour, so if there is a post I somehow missed, please take my apologies now. Is there a "clean" template for the F-16C? One without any tailcodes or art at all? The official template has the SW tailcode and Gamblers finflag "hard painted" and not in a layer. If anyone has done the work already to scrub/clean that tail (and other parts of the aircraft livery) to be blank, I'd love to see a copy. Happy New Year (2022), all!

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
BlackRook replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
The latest version is definitely what I downloaded, from the URL quoted. Sorry, my text has the wrong version number, not sure how I misstated that. I blame early onsite old-timer's syndrome. I'll do a complete uninstall, wipe and reinstall of DCS:OB and then TacView and report back. -
Oh, to be clear: The above was a criticism of most online communities being utter crap to the development/publishing company out of entitlement and immaturity. The above is not at all aimed at, or criticism of, Eagle Dynamics.
-
I can just hear the whiners now: "We have the WHOLE WORLD that can participate in this (dynamic campaign) war!! Why doesn't the DC engine take into account that [Russia|China|US|whoever] is just a couple hundred miles away, and they can be included?" I think that the complexities of trying to build a map-based (read: confined space) dynamic campaign engine is, according to DCS/Eagle themselves, hard. It was part of the roadmap for 2021, but that has clearly be re-prioritized, largely (I suspect) on the difficulties of making it work they way that they want it to. Add on top of this the fluidity or "open world" sort of possibilities of a world map, and there is a lot to consider. In addition, an 'open world' sort of ability within DCS, while a noble and worthy cause, is going to be initially met with the screaming, stamping of feet and griping, that the aircraft/armies/equipment of [Insert My Favorite Country here] are not properly represented!! <rage!> Don't get me wrong. I'd love to have it. I just think that an open-world DCS is going to require a LOT of help in development from modders and third-party content providers.

Tacview, the ACMI for DCS World – Official Thread
BlackRook replied to Vyrtuoz's topic in DCS Modding
I cannot install TacView (1.3.8), downloaded from site today, install ran without any issues or popups. DCS updated today also, OpenBeta, you can see versions in the screen shot. I get an 'The following DLCs are not authorized and will be disabled: Tacview", with no idea why this is being checked by DCS, as it is a third-party module? Googling the error returns no relevant fix info. -
Curious if anyone out there has sample US Navy mission briefing verbiage samples, or examples, that they could share? I've seen a slew of different styles, just wondering if there is a 'Standard' published somewhere or if someone can show some real-world briefings that could be modeled off of?
-
I am looking at the current download for the DCS User Manual, and wondering how often this guide is updated? I recall seeing new functionality for the Mission Editor in Release Notes, has this been incorporated and documented in the Manual?

As of 2.7 (May 21), I am looking to start fiddling with building a campaign for myself to learn the ME and scripting engines out there. I've been in the forums for each of the two newest maps, PG and Syria, as everyone seems to be sick and tired of Caucasus and there seems to be (?) little interest in NTTR. What I have seen is disagreement about the state of the two major add-on maps, either from completion angle or from bugs/performance. Knowing that this answer is fluid and both maps will/are undergoing updates, which map is the best to build on? Don't give opinions, give something concrete, some sort of statistical thing that can be pointed to, if you can.
-
I was going to ask, this morning, if the DCS World Guide document was being updated, as I do not see any changes for 2.7 included. Maybe this is still in the works?
-
That... makes sense. Thanks, Harker.

Carrier crew ignores new aircraft taxing to catapult
BlackRook replied to MirrorNext's topic in Bugs and Problems
(deleted, answered in another thread) -
I have just started trying to do CarrierOps on the -18 (w/SuperCarrier) and the Mission that has you launching off the carrier on the CAT1 position (with CATs 2-4 also loaded). As soon as I press START, my Shooter starts with the 'Run 'em up' hand motion of circling his fingers up in the air. I run up to full AB (yes, can see the finger detents raising as I do) and he just stands there, telling me to run 'em up. Meanwhile, the waist catapults launch and we sit there. I waited 2 full minutes, checking and double-checking that I was in full AB... and CATs 1 and 2 never launch. Is this part of this new 2.7 bug?

Upvoted.

I did that guys. I still had a black DCS World screen for an hour after that operation completed. Eventually I killed the process and relaunched. It must be that the process hung/died. Probably just a one-time hiccup.

Using what, the Pilot Logbook information? Rank in that might be very different from any VFS rank. So if this is implemented, please make it a string field in the Options as an optional override to anything in the Logbook.

Un-installing/deleting all the free preview Mods is taking (*checks clock*) 45 minutes. Sitting at the black screen with the DCS World logo as I wait. Can we opt-out of these "free preview" periods so as to not go through this?

In the same boat, new pilot looking to get involved. Sent you a Discord friend request.

Rook here. Used to play Falcon 4 and sibling releases (BMS, FreeFalcon) for years, even flew with a couple of VFS and a few fly-in LAN parties. Looking to get back into combat flight sims, and of course came straight here. I own the base DCS and am looking to start purchasing platforms and campaigns. Hope to learn a lot.
