  1. Yeah, Ive had this issue too, for the last 2 purchases ive made. Least I know it isnt only me. Did you get it sorted? I had to pay via CC last time. Paypal just never worked
  2. Yeah, that worked. Thanks. I had already sussed out how to fly them within the editor. Copied the campaign to my saved campaigns edited the file within the miz file (wasnt aware they were just renamed rar/zip files, that was a great help), and its now playing as it should, as a campaign, but with the BS3
  3. Has anyone managed to convert the BS2 campaigns to BS3? I would like to play the BS2 campaigns again, but with the BS3. The two "mod" campaigns, Pandemic and Republic, I've found the missions for, you can load them in the editor and change the starting aircraft from a KA-50 to a KA-50III, but cant save the changes. Must be a hidden read only tab somewhere I've yet to find. As for the other BS2 campaigns that are included with the game, yet to find these, but I suspect same issue will occur. Anyone managed to find a work around or do we have to wait for the campaigns to be officially converted?
  4. As topic suggests, I find that the tires on the BS3 have almost no grip. Its like every taxiway and runway is covered in ice. When trying to taxi I can go sideways just as easily as I can go forwards, turning corners on taxiways is a nightmare. Also, the wheel brakes seem to do nothing, but this could also be due to lack of grip. Is this actually intended, is this how a real helo would actually work, given its a 10 ton machine with decently powerful engines? Or is this a bug and the grip coefficient of the tires is set stupidly low?
  5. Yeah I have noticed this too. With regards to Igla vs planes, I've not tried it on an actual combat jet, but the "Shooting range" training mission tasks you with taking out 2 Reaper drones, if you count them as 'planes' being they are fixed wing. I had to use all 4 Iglas just to down one drone, and had to down the other using the gun. Pretty sure it shouldn't take 4 anti air missiles to take down a drone, even though the reapers are quite large. But, also agree about the helo damage models. Something weird going on there. Another training mission gives you two CH-47s to shoot at. Downed one with a single Igla (no idea how, maybe hit the pilot), the 2nd one took the remaining 3 Iglas, then I fired ALL my cannon ammo at it, from sitting on its six at about 100m and pumping in a short burst at a time, so most of the rounds hit, both HE and AP, by which point the thing was looking like swiss cheese and had one engine burning nicely, but still flying perfectly happily. I then got fed up and RAMMED it from behind. I fell to the ground, blew up, and it flew on happily and landed at its designated runway.... Yeah... no!!!
  6. Are you letting go of the stick immediately after letting go of the trim button? Essentially the trim button "re-centers" the stick, so if your still holding the stick in the same position, its going to effectively double the input you had before you trimmed. Hold down the trim button, get a nice stable flight with the nose inclined to where you want it, let go of the trimmer button and let go of the stick immediately, ie return it to center. The aircraft should carry on in the attitude you set it to when you were trimming. With regards to the bank though, I have noticed that on mine. I can trim to perfectly level, ie zero bank, usually have a bout a 10 degree nose down attitude for forward flight, and when the trimmer is released, it'll sit about 2 degrees in a roll to the right. Will still fly perfectly straight, just slightly canted. No idea if this is a bug or the aircraft is doing something im unaware of, like wind compensation or something.
  7. Ah!! Love the setup. Ive been pondering over how to manage the RPM/throttle axis for the Mossie, given I just have the Virpil T-50CM2, but want 4 axis, 2 for each engine should I need to adjust each engine individually due to combat damage, but not having to spend well into 3 figure sums for a 4 axis quadrant. The Saitek quadrants might do the job nicely :)
  8. Yeah I think you are right Viper, by the looks of it its all the modules updating too, I was going on the assumption they were all similar size to the Huey at 350mb ish, the A10 and the KA50 are well over a gig each, then theres the Huey, su25, p51, FW190 etc, I guess that could well add up to 4.5Gb. :( Guess I'll have to wait another day to download all that, thnx for the help anyways :)
  9. I haven't played DCS for a while and decided to have another go since I have time, and obviously need to update DCS World. I downloaded the 4 bin files and the exe while I was at work (with my slow connection takes best part of a day), and ran it when I came home. Tells me I should use the auto update rather than put a new installation over the exsisting one. OK, easy enough, run the updater, and heres the problem, it verified the files, then a got a brief message up saying searching for pre-downloaded files, then goes ahead and starts downloading the new update, all 4.5GB of it. Ive already downloaded the files, but for the life of me I cant figure out WHERE to put the bin files so it finds them and updates from them instead of redownloading the whole lot again. Tried putting them in the root directory of DCS World and tried the /bin folder where the updater is. Can anyone point me to the directory it looks in when it says "searching for pre-downloaded files" to save me downloading the whole damn lot again. Tried googling it and searching ED forums but no luck. Thanks!!
  10. Awseome! :) Thanks PeterP, been trawling through all the multimonitor threads, finally got my dual monitor setup working and now thanks to you (again) managed to move all the menus to one screen so i can see wtf they say :) Still havent quite got SoftTH to work, but windowed and phantom monitor fix is doing the job at the moment, thats for another day... Once again Peter, many thanks for your informative (and simple language :)) posts, I'd still be squinting at a single screen if it wasnt for you.
  11. Is that not more realistic? Even if a tank has a top speed of 70kmh, thats usually on a smooth hard surface like a road, or desert etc, you put them offroad, particualy on soft uneven terrain on the edge or river banks etc, I'dve expected them to reduce speed quite significantly. Maybe 20km/h is a tad on the slow side but I wouldnt have expected them to do more than 30 or 40...
  12. I see this is still not fixed yet, upgraded a few days ago and re-learning to fly the BS, dragged over my own custom "training" mission which is a heap of stionary and moving targets to rehone my targeting skills, some of which are armed speedboats.. crashed every time at first I thought it was my multi monitor setup being odd, but still crashed when switched back to single monitor. Will await a fix, hopefully in the near future, kinda lame we cant target surface vessels
  13. Is that the one with the ammo depot in it too? I blew up the ammo depot, took out the outer edge sams and the missile spamming BMPs then had to return to base to reload and refuel, since yeah the AI wingman was useless, and when I got back the light from the still burning ammo dump was sufficient to manually target the vikhrs if the SHKVAL wont lock, or mop up with cannon fire. The T-72s seemed to be inactive in the dark too. Very few of the missions actually have a set time you must do them in, so possible to return to base for more ammo, espeacilly when the wingamn gets himself shot down or flies into a hill.
  14. If you think about it, there already is some units ingame that are perfectly suitable to the last wars the P-51 was used in. The P-51 was still active in the Korean and possibly Vietnam wars in a ground attack role. Ingame units like the 6 wheel truck are perfectly suitable, the Shilka was about in Vietnam and the BTR was around in both Korea and Vietnam, dont think the BMP-1 was about then but it wasnt far away. The ZPU series of anti-aircraft guns were also about by then. So yes there are already units ingame that wouldnt be out of place in a scenario the P-51 historically took part in. Is ED adding more.. only they can answer that, but there is already some units ingame that would fit the bill, but I do agree a few more would be nice to flesh out misisons a bit. If you use a bit of imagination it wouldnt be so hard to imagine the russia/georgian map 40/50 years ago back in the vietnam/korean time with prop driven ground attack aircraft rolling down its valleys, creative mission making would easily sort that. Are prop driven aircraft out of place in a modern comabt sim, no, there is some coming into service in Iraq as we speak...
  15. OK Just spotted this thread a few days late, and appologies for the long post, having been absorbed in relearning how to fly the BS having just upgraded to BS2... and I just dont get all this negativity... I keep seeing P-51 vs SA11, FAIL and lack of proper enviroment.. etc.. OK I admit I havent got into A-10 much but I have owned and flown BS regulary for the few 2 years or so, and I totally fail to understand how this cant be approached. In BS you approach a SAM launcher at 2500ft, you die before you even spot it on the SHKVAL to lock and fire on it... answer... sneak up the valleys (russian/gorgia map is FULL of valleys) under its radar pop your head up at the last minute and fill it full of rockets/30mm etc. Job done... There is a nice youtube vid of an A-10 doing exactly the same thing too, so WHY, cant this be done with a P-51?, nice ground hug, slide round the side of a hill and drop a couple of 250lb'ers down its throat or a volley of 5 inch rockets. As for this "lack of appropriate targets"... a lot of the targets in BS/A-10 are soft, equally vunerable to 50cal weapon fire. Quite a few seem to forget the P-51 was armed with dumb bombs and 5 inch rockets as well as 6x50 cal. Harking back to WW2 the 5 inch rocket was more than capable of opening up Tigers and even King Tigers, the latter having if I recall, being pretty much covered in 50mm+ armour plating, some parts being 90-100mm. I admit I am guessing here but I would imagine the older russian BMPs have solid plate armour rather than reactive armour like the T-90 etc.. if that is indeed the case, BMPs having heavier plate armour than the old King Tiger.. I doubt it, hence P-51 vs BMP... P-51 wins as long as you dont come in high and slow from miles out and give the BMP time to get a missile off, same with Shilkas, I doubt they would have heavier armour than an old WW2 battle tank. With no time delays to target lock, relock for next target to shoot, being a simple aim and shoot system I could quite easily see 3 or 4 BMPs being taken out with single rocket pass if your aim is good and they are in a nice line astern convoy. I think the only debatable threat for the P-51 is the modern mainline battle tank like the T-90, with thier thick reactive armour I think they would shrug off a 5 inch rocket like they do RPG's but with creative mission planning you could have few/none of these or place it so you can sneak up and take it from behind with a few well aimed rockets. My summary, using the hide and seek tactics I have learned through BS rather than the fast jet "tactics" I have seen on MP of approach it at 5000ft and sling a long range missile at it, I think the P-51 will be perfectly suited (although challenging) to our already exsisting terrain as long as you dont try and take on a heavily defended SAM emplacement in the middle of a massive, flat, flood plain. I'm sure there will be vids of A-10s limping away with smoke pouring from an engine after a failed mid lvl attack just to watch a P-51 rip along at deck lvl and "hotdrop" the SAM site with a volley of rocket fire after popping over a nearby rise. ED... P-51, bring it on, you have my guaranteed preorder and I eagerally await a lethal combat prop driven airframe in the astounding detail you have already paid to the BS and the A-10. The fact this project is being run in parallel to the modern aircraft so wont delay the much anticipited fixed wing release is perfect too :)
