  1. sniped again, well I am a slow typist.
  2. I think it is the smoke grenade being "popped" by the vehicles on the road as a defensive measure.
  3. Sad to see they did not include the calibration utility with TARGET 1.0
  4. Grimes has made an outstanding mission that will help you with the Lat Long data entry as well. The mission is called "On Station" http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=62166
  5. I created a Powerpoint Tutorial provided in post #3 above as an attachment provided in PDF format that covers this post and adds some pictures and helpful info. I will also have a hyperlink to the thread as an addition to my signature line to make it even easier to find.
  6. I just created JTAC UTM Coordinate Entry Tutorial based on post #4 in this thread. It is created in Powerpoint, and provided as a PDF file. The document can be found in Post#4 as an attachment. I have also amended my Signature with a hyperlink to the post. Please, as always, let me know if you see anything that you want changed or revised.
  7. I made a YouTube vid back in beta 3 and have used this technique all the way through to today, and have never had a problem with the preset's. Here it is:
  8. Maybe I am missing something, but you stated you did hit the load button, as highlighted in red above...and just for clarity, the load button is not missing from the ED Flight Manual. In fact here is the quote from page 138: To set a Preset Channel, follow these steps: 1. Set the Frequency Mode Dial to the MAN setting. 2. Using the Frequency Selector Knobs, enter the frequency you wish to save as a Preset. 3. Using the Preset Channel Selector Wheel, select the Preset channel that you wish to save the frequency to. 4. Press the Load button. 5. Set the Frequency Mode Dial to the PRE setting. When you now have the radio in PRE mode, the saved frequency of the Preset channel selected will be used. Note that when you select a Preset channel, the frequency tied to that Preset channel will NOT be displayed in the frequency display windows. Only the MAN frequency is displayed there.
  9. I added one small item in my O.P. that shows how to bring the CDU back to the Waypoint Page in case you went exploring in the CDU! The addition is in italics.
  10. As covered in the Radio Tutorial: Make sure you do not interact with the radios until after the following switches are thrown: BATT-ON INVERTER-STANDBY APU-START APU GEN-ON After the APU GEN is on, then try using the radio's.
  11. It's no problem pal, mistakes happen to all of us.....glad it helped you out.
  12. Hi Grimes, Just want to run something by you. Since the patch, both times I hosted a MP server and ran On Station v4b heavyload.miz, I get a repeatable client CTD when I the host engage and hit a target with a weapon. Specifically the AGM 65 D. Have you heard of this? EDIT: My apologies, I did not see V5 is up....I will try that one and see if the Client CTD continues. EDIT #2: V5 solved the CTD.
  13. Hey Bob, welcome to the Forums. I put together a Radio Tutorial for realistic radio use, and if you want to check it out, there is a link below my sig.
  14. Well, I can confirm my Cougar MFD's were clear of any physical contact, so my mind is heading toward the helios and touchscreen being the next logical culprit.
  15. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to effte again. +1
  16. This is the second time in 2 days I have got this error: LEFT MFCD STUCK KEY It shows up as the standard yellow box in the MFCD's and the problem is it can not be cleared. There is a thin purple outline next to the OSB that supposedly is stuck, and nothing I have found will clear the yellow error box from both my MFCD's. I just got helios, and a touchscreen, and this error never showed up using the Cougar MFD's in the beta's. I do not know if this error was just added in the Final Release, or in the latest patch, so it is hard to isolate the culprit. Has anyone else ever got this error?
  17. Much of the procedure is the same from the UTM coordinate entry (post #4 in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68946), so I took the liberty of pasting my UTM tutorial here and changing the relevant parts. Use a mission data card to get all the info on the Lat/Long coordinates and the specific weapon, direction of attack, direction of egress and weapon requested. To make the Lat/Long coordinate provided by JTAC into a waypoint do the following: Find a safe area to do a wide orbit. Set your autopilot to ALT and then make a left or right banking level turn and hold it. Then engage the autopilot and ensure it is holding the turn and you have no elevation conflicts around you. The Lat/Long coordinates will be in the form of 2 sets of 7 numbers. The first set is the North coordinates, the second set is the East coordinates. You will see a N and a E next to OSB 16 and OSB 17 to help you enter the coordinates in their proper places. Make sure your STEER PT switch on your AAP Panel is set to FLT PLAN. Set your right MFCD to the CDU repeater function. Check OSB 10 to ensure L/L (Lat/Long) is displayed. Hit OSB 9 to select the number presented next to the question mark as your new target waypoint. Using the CDU or the UFC, enter the first set of numbers without spaces in the scratchpad. This is your North set of coordinates. Hit OSB 17 to enter the coordinate in to the computer. (Note the N at the beginning of the string) Verify the number entered is correct. Using the CDU or the UFC, enter the second set of numbers without spaces in the scratchpad. This is your East set of coordinates. Note: When entering the East set of coordinates it is sometimes necessary to add a 0 to the beginning of the coordinate. For example, the coordinate given as: 42 58 38 will need to be entered as 042 58 38. I am not sure why this is, but if you do not do this, you will get a "Input Error" in the scratchpad. Hit OSB 16 to enter the coordinate in to the computer. (Note the E at the beginning of the string) Verify the number entered is correct. Using the CDU or UFC keypad give your new waypoint a unique name eg: TGT A and hit OSB 7 to change the name. Now turn your STEER PT dial on the AAP from FLT PLAN to MISSION. Use the UFC STEER rocker or with the HUD as SOI, DMS UP to cycle thru the waypoints until you see the unique name you created for this target. Find your target waypoint symbol on the TAD and then use the steering cue's on the HUD to prosecute your attack. EDIT #1: I created a Powerpoint Tutorial provided in the link below as a PDF that covers this post and adds some pictures and helpful info. 18. For me, when I master this Simulator, it will be a real "feather in my cap" as my Grandfather used to say...and the CDU is the Final Frontier!
  19. I see that some postings here in this thread are newer members, or low posting members and I want to try to give you all some perspective. Do you know why the phrase "It's done when it's done" is used? I'll tell you why, because if you miss a stated release date, then the forum fills with postings of anger and complaints for missing the date. Much of these post's by people who have never been involved in any project with the complexity and detail that a Simulation like this entails. They just know they want what they want.... when they want it..... and if they dont get it, then someone owes them an explanation. All you need is to go through the above described Sh*tstorm a few times and you will quickly be saying "It's done when it's done" too. Bug's in PC Flight Simulator's is a given, if you can not be part of the Community that contributes a net positive to the other members and help the Dev's identify bugs, then maybe PC Simulator genre is not for you yet. This is not DCS's first rodeo, I am sure they will continue to work out the bug's.
  20. I'm happy to help, as there were many who helped me along. I have not specifically checked, but I believe it is set at ground level via data from the DTS (Digital Terrain System).
  21. I will give it my best shot. JTAC will give you a UTM or Lat/Long coordinate during the 9 line, and if you have your SADL net settings correct, you will also get a data linked target identifier in your TAD (a red triangle). The following is based on JTAC giving you a UTM coordinate. Use a mission data card to get all the info on the UTM coordinate and the specific weapon, direction of attack, direction of egress and weapon requested. To make the UTM coordinate provided by JTAC into a waypoint do the following: Find a safe area to do a wide orbit. Set your autopilot to ALT and then make a left or right banking level turn and hold it. Then engage the autopilot and ensure it is holding the turn and you have no elevation conflicts around you. The UTM coordinates will be in the form of 2 letters and 6 numbers. Make sure your STEER PT switch on your AAP Panel is set to FLT PLAN. Set your right MFCD to the CDU repeater function. *NOTE: If your CDU is not on the WAYPOINT PAGE, then hit the WP key on the CDU, or FUNC 3 on the UFC. This will bring up the page where you can choose to select WAYPOINT by hitting OSB 7. You should now be on the WAYPOINT PAGE and ready to continue. Hit OSB 10 to switch from the default L/L (Lat/Long) to UTM. Hit OSB 9 to select the number presented next to the question mark as your new target waypoint. Using the CDU or the UFC, enter the 2 letters, and 6 numbers without spaces in the scratchpad. Hit OSB 16 to enter the UTM coordinate in to the computer. Verify the number entered is correct. EDIT #1: I added the item in italics for anyone who has moved off the Waypoint Page in the CDU, and needs to know how to get back. EDIT #2: I created a Powerpoint Presentation outlining the steps covered in the post above, and added a few explanatory pictures. The UTM Data Entry Tutorial is provided in PDF format as an attachment below for you all to use. JTAC 9 LINE UTM COORDINATE ENTRY PROCEDURE 03-08-2011.pdf
  22. This functionality worked in the beta's in MP. If as you say the Final Release version messed it up, then I am sure it will be patched along with the other bug's.
  23. Yes they can via the SADL network. You can send your SPI in multiplayer to other pilots that are in your same SADL network.
  24. Well let's see...if you have ever fired a real gun, you know that it is not a good idea to fire one round if you just had a malfunction with the previous round. So if your last 30mm round is jammed in one of the barrels, then firing another one down the same barrel would be a bad idea. Darwin was right all along huh? :megalol:
  25. The way it's supposed to work is the wingman stays at his apron parking/spawn spot until you move first. Some missions have been designed with a flaw that the wingman moves out first, and can sometimes block the taxi way to the designated runway. The quick and dirty work around is to use one of the other taxiway's. For example, if you wingman is blocking the F taxiway, head towards the center of the runway and use taxiway E. Hold short, request takeoff clearance from ATC, and then taxi on to the runway. (visual check for inbound traffic) Now taxi back down to where taxiway F intersects with the runway and then turn around. (if space is tight, remember to use the rudder with the L/R wheel brake in conjunction with the L/R engine to make the tightest turn possible). This brings you to your proper runway point for takeoff. Since I dont think tandem takeoff's are coded for wingmen, you need to take off first and orbit until you wingman joins you.
