Is the airframe clean or did you have a payload on her when you tried the loop?

Most cost effective rudders
WarriorX replied to Lonecrow66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
IMHO the "most cost effective" rudders are the ones that are built to last, with quality components and are ergonomic. The price is a variable that is spread over the lifetime of the device's use, so if the rudder pedals last you say 6-8 years the initial cost takes a different perspective. There is a saying, "purchase quality once, or cheap over and over". -
Communicating with ground crew via radio
WarriorX replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hi Latearrival, There are a couple of things to know to get the Ground Crew Comms working. First you need to be in the, for the lack of a better term..."Ground Crew Interaction Zone" that each airport has. The mission designers will usually give you a geographical description of where this zone is on the mission airbase. When and only when you are in that zone you can interact with the Ground Crew. As to how to communicate with the Ground Crew, there are a few choices available to you. The simplest is when you look at the Intercom Panel and then push down the Hot Mic (HM) switch and then pull it back up (both with left mouse). Once that is done, you will see a Radio Interaction Menu pop up. Just select F8 and then you can refuel and rearm. If you want to access the Ground Crew with the VHF AM or VHF FM or UHF radio's you need to turn the Intercom Selector Switch to match the desired radio you want to communicate with the Ground Crew on. Then hit the appropriate HOTAS Mic Switch for the radio you are using, then select the Ground Crew and choose what you want. Dont forget to put the Intercom Selector Switch back to it's original position when you are done with the Ground Crew....if you don't, you will have problems with your radio functionality. You will know you were successful in communicating with the Ground Crew when you see and/or hear the Ground Crew reply to your request. I hope this helps. -
Thanks so much for making this guide. Very well done.

Since we are hopefully nearing the release of Beta 5, I was thinking about the auto update functionality that I had read about in Post 607 in this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1000064&highlight=auto+patch#post1000064 talks about it, but I was wondering if there were any updates as to if this feature will see daylight?

Vega, letting your frustration get the better of you makes others less likely to help you out. Go to the home page (link at top of fourms) then log in, then go to payments. That is where the activation key is.

Rep added! Thanks very much Paul. That was a very well done tutorial. As I don't have Photoshop, I would be happy to pay to have my custom skin created. I would rather leave it to those with the skill and experience.

DCS would be smart to add the ability to personalize your A-10C with your callsign, and maybe some nose art like mower is sporting there. Mower, do you think Snoopy would be willing to make a tutorial on how he does this mod?

Great work Greb! Tried to +1 rep you but got the following message. "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Greb again." I owe ya one.

LeLv30 my hat is off to you! I thank you for the link and the great pictures. I wonder if this level of electronic and woodworking creation is within the ability of a novice in both fields? I would probably have to build 4 until I got 1 to work! I noticed that you have 2 different set's of MFD's there. One picture in the link shows both MFD's with a circular knob in the bottom left corner. Then later in the set, the Cougar MFD's are in the build. What was the make of the MFD's with the circular knob?

First issue; let's establish that the axis assignments are correct before we spend any time on the keyboard vs. rudder discrepancy. I would advise you install the most current driver from Saitek for your operating system as well, if one is provided. Second Issue; all rudder pedal assignments are in axis controls. Find your Saitek pedals, go down the column to the desired input row and then select the box. Now hit add and then move the rudder in the associated direction, and the Sim will register the pairing and give a text output in the field. Side Question; I have not tried to pair my Cougar MFCD's to one of my monitor's. I am waiting for when we get out of beta's to do that. Search for a Forum Member named Kuky, if I recall correctly he has some posts and or threads on setting it up. P.S. make sure you have beta forum access first. If you do not you will find a sticky post at the top of page 1 referencing beta forum access.

As far as I know, the IR fuction of the TGP is used to visually mark targets for NVG wearing pilots. This aid's in situational awareness for fellow NVG wearing pilots that for any reason, can not identify the target in question. It does not apply to the LGB side of things. (It looks really cool! if you have not seen it for yourself in operation, definitely check it out!)

Nomdeplume is right...I had a similar situation when I added my TM Warthog after removing the Cougar Stick and Cougar Throttle. A lot of axis assignments were put in the wrong places. This resulted in a very erratic flight that quickly became uncontrollable. Knowing this can happen, I now check to make sure all the key assignments for each controller are focused solely on what I want them to cover. I just redesigned my CH MFP's so that one of them sends keystrokes, and the other 2 are set up as DirectX devices that emulate Joystick Buttons. When I first went in to the Options page and saw all the crazy things that the Sim had assigned these DirectX MFP's, I had to go through them and delete the unwanted axis/key assignments. Had I gone in and flown without checking this, a press on the MFP might have caused the exact problem the O.P. described. Moral of this story....whenever adding or removing a piece of hardware to this Sim, check the axis/key assignments for each new device and check your existing devices. ( I take screen shot's of the pages with Window's 7 Snipping Tool for future reference)

Thank you StrongHarm. You did not get a rep of 37 without sharing those same traits. There are a whole lot of great people on this Forum, who just want to help build a great Community. I'm just trying to do my part.

Very inspirational! Could you please post any details on the part's used, and creation of your fantastic switch panel?

It seems you did not read all of the linked thread...rearming works right now in beta 4. The exact size and location of the Ground Crew Interaction Zone at each friendly airbase is something I will leave to the Mission Designers, but I can say for sure, rearming works. So does refueling, but repair functionality has not been implemented as of yet. Please reference page 646 in the most recent Beta 4 Manual for detailed instructions.

People Using TMWH that never bellyed...
WarriorX replied to Succellus's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
EVGA X58 3X SLI Classified. Throttle and Joystick running from a powered DLink 7 port hub. They are the only 2 devices on that hub. I never unplug either, and the Throttle lights stay on 24/7. I have had the WH since November. No problems so far. -
To add to the other points made, the inclusion of an all axis hall sensor design in the W.H. is a big plus for me. I needed to replace the gimbals on my Cougar with the NXT mod, so I am glad to see the end of the potentiometer. I agree with the previous poster that this stick is the most accurate joystick I have ever used. It makes GAU8 kills on tanks a manageable affair with very little ammo expended per pass. The other great thing is how much the W.H. and DCS A-10C work together seamlessly. My hat is off to whomever was responsible for this aspect of DCS A-10C. Having the W.H. plug and play literally with this Sim is a real treat. I am not so impressed with the "work in progress" Thrustmaster TARGET software though. It seems it was not ready for prime time upon W.H. shipment and they will be polishing and maturing the software as the next 6 months go by. My biggest gripe is that TARGET only allows the combination of a few select Thrustmaster peripherals(Throttle, Joystick, MFD's, Simped Rudder Pedals via the Cougar game port) to create ONE virtual controller for windows to "see". The problem with that is the DirectX 8 axis limit. You see, the above peripherals combined have 10 axis. So, if you create a profile in TARGET with all those devices, you cant use all the axis available, you must pick 2 of them not to use....that stinks. I hope they transition to giving TARGET the ability to create more than 1 virtual controller, or independant virtual controllers to solve this problem. There are some good advances in TARGET from the FOXY software it replaced, and it's GUI interface will make it's use far more accessible than the FOXY script language. Even with the TARGET shortcomings, I would buy the W.H. again in a second, I am that happy with it.

How To: Build a A-10 flight panel controller
WarriorX replied to TigersharkBAS's topic in Home Cockpits
Like I said in the you tube comments, thanks for taking the time to make these videos Tigershark. They really help me to see exactly whats involved in creating this panel, and that it is doable for a novice in electronics. -
Just some friendly advise....I think you will regret selling your Cougar, if all you are selling it for is to get a set of pedals. By connecting to the Cougar base, you have an outstanding set of rudder pedals that you are used to and know work well. (look at all the trouble the new Saitek rudder pedals are having with the toe brakes) I have the same setup (except NXT instead of FCC) I look at it as I have the ability to switch back to the Cougar if the next best F16 sim comes around.

Are you running a 64 bit operating system? If yes, then your operating system can use the increased memory. As to whether a memory upgrade will increase your FPS, that depends on many other factors regarding your current PC.

I just ran the Target device analyzer and it showed it centered on the spot. I have not run the windows calibration.
