Teething problems with startup/taxi procedures
WarriorX replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You dont need the ground crew power for startup. Just do your BATT, INVERTER, APU START, APU GEN, then radio the tower and request engine start. Taxi permission follows request startup in the "flow". Once you get taxi clearance, make note of the runway assignment, and then either hit F10 to orient yourself on the map, or get a hold of Shu's Airport Diagram project and orient yourself to the proper runway via the diagram. Ensure you are heading to the correct runway assigned by the ATC. Is this in reference to a mission you are building, or a canned mission? -
Remember gent's, the JTAC was implemented in this Sim with the express purpose of helping you find and prosecute your targets. Most all missions have them, so use them. IMHO, the wingman's job is to cover my ass, and take direction from me, the flight lead. I want him to call out sam launches, and bogey's, anything more and you might as well let him take the lead.

Hi Shootist, welcome to the Forums! The short answer is yes the wingman commands do work. The workload on you depends on if you are using realistic radio's or simplified. With realistic radio's, getting them to work means you need to tune one of the Radios, and press one of the HOTAS Mic Switches, and then once your wingman actually comes close enough to the enemy target in question, he will report the contact and then you can assign him the target using the F1-F12 keys. There is a link to a Radio Tutorial below my Sig, look it over, it may help you out.

Need Cougar HOTAS Replacement Part
WarriorX replied to key_stroked's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Your only option short of buying a cheap/non functional Cougar from Ebay for parts, is to have someone fabricate a replacement from a resin casting. I would consider this a last ditch option, but starting a thread for the request cant hurt. There are a few very talented people here that may be able to help you out. -
Sounds like you are hitting either the cockpit switch for the EMER FLOOD (just above the battery switch) or the key assignment for the EMER FLOOD.

HOTAS Warthog updated drivers 2011-02-22
WarriorX replied to ACUTech's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Install the latest version of TARGET. Run TARGET and next to each controller there will be a Get Firmware button. Hit that and it will retrieve and display the firmware for each device. -
Manual startup - Can't turn on exterior lights?
WarriorX replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I would assume it is a short press. -
coordinates in nine line don't make sense (to me)
WarriorX replied to papaskot's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
In order to enter the UTM coord in the CDU, you need to switch the OSB 9 on the right MFPS CDU repeater from L/L (Lat,Long) to UTM. With this switch, you can now create a new waypoint, with the MM141729 entered in the OSB 16 position. -
You need to load the rearm into the flight computer just like you would during a cold ramp start. To do this, select any MFDS menu item that is on the bottom row of your MFD's. I use the MSG one a lot for this procedure. Press and hold the MSG button until the root menu for the MFDS comes up. Once it does, select LOAD, and then hit the MSG button and it will turn into LOAD. Now hit the LOAD button, and select LOAD ALL. The asterisks next to the 4 items on the left side will disappear. When they come back, you can switch to the DSMS page and see your rearm loadout is now there.

You're welcome...good hunting!

Paul, I just read it over and it is outstanding! I like (what I like to believe is the real world stuff from your ANG experience) the Motor Engine Starts, and the Throttle Chop Check. Real nice to get a little inside baseball from a RL Crew Chief. Is the Mission Data Card close to the "Real Deal"? Very comprehensive and complete. Great job Sir!

I moved the EAC ARM and RDR ALTM to NORM to a point after the ILS NAV alignment is fully done. I added the arming of the ejection seat. There was one more thing but I can not recall right now, and dont have access to the doc at the moment.

You're welcome Sir!

Glad to help. Good Hunting!

Thanks Juuba, I just updated the Cold Start Checklist to reflect all Final Release changes.

Confirm you did not start touching the radio's until AFTER the APU was running and the APU GEN switch was ON? Confirm your left most frequency window was 13, the next one to the right was 3?

The only other color for the HUD is the night mode. You can find the switch on the AHCP.

Try using your TGP to lase the ground next to the troops and then create a Mark Point with the TMS Right Short. You will have created Mark Point A Then switch your Steerpoint Dial on your AAP (Auxiliary Avionics Panel pg 169 in manual) from flight plan to Mark. Now check your CDU and use the Steerpoint toggle on the UFC to bring up Mark A as your active steerpoint. This accurate elevation data you created with the laser for the mark point will provide the computer in the A10C the correct slant range and pipper placement on the targets you want to engage.

Hawka, let me start off by saying I know this is a Sim Forum, not an English Comp class, but that "wall of letters" you just posted is hideous....It makes you not want to read what you have to say.

Hi Bradleyjs, I know how you feel! Here is the info you are looking for. Go to Options/Controls/ Hit the drop down arrow at the top of the Control Assignment page. Select Axis Commands There will be a zoom view in that list that you can assign to the slider on the Warthog Throttle. Happy Hunting!

Ah good old Bugs...and my favorite Foghorn Leghorn...anyways regarding your HOTAS mapping, just remember to be sure to clear out any default assignments before you go trying to reassign any new ones. It will most probably crash to desktop if you try to assign a new one to an already assigned button.

Yes you can burn it to a disc. Make a digital and hardcopy backup of your key and you should be good to go.

Hey dne48 check out this thread, http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1099520&postcount=4 The only changes since that post was made, was that now if you shut down your engines at a friendly airbase (not sure yet if it needs to be "in the Ground Crew Interaction Zone) and wait approx 3 min, your A-10C is repaired. I can confirm that repair actually repairs not just reskins as Vulcann and I were flying MP last night, and he had a tire blow on taxi, so he stopped, asked GC Chief for external power, shut down the engines, and then we waited for approx 3 min, and voila! his tire was repaired/replaced and off we went. I can also confirm some bugs that have already been brought up in other threads that happen with the TGP loosing FLIR functionality if you change your loadout on the tarmac after mission start.
