I don't know if this is the correct spot to put this post but here it is. I like less well known modern fighters that could fit the landscape of DCS. I think that the F-CK-1 can be a great fit and counterpart to the JF-17. It can carry 4*TC-2 radar guided Fox-3s along with 2*TC-1 Fox-2s along with a multitude of A2G weaponry. I think it would be pretty cool if were developed by someone and put into the game as a module (if information permitting of course).

Yeah. I never use Sparrows outside of PAL range since outside of 10nm, the Sparrow is basically useless imo.

TID range after TWS launch, feature or lack of feature?
DSplayer replied to captain_dalan's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah it’s a bit annoying now being able to change TID range with the Jester menu after launch. The only way I got around it was with assigning key bindings for the Jester TID range settings since those work even after they disappear in the Jester menu. -
What range are you employing your long shots?
-
Do you have the F-22 mod installed? If so, try going to the saved games folder and go to the F-22 files and find a file called AIM9.ogg or something similar to that and delete it. That should solve that ear piercing SW tone.

How about improved variants of the AIM-54A? Like are there is there improvements of the AIM-54A seeker prior to the advancement of the AIM-54C?
-
I don’t think there enough differences in terms of controls for a completely new profile thing. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that is exclusive to the A is the Mid-compression bypass circuit breaker.

Is there the possibility of more AIM-54 variants coming to the Tomcat? There's an image of an AIM-54C with what appears to be a motor which was painted white while the rest of the missile was grey. I don't know if had a Mk60 or Mk47 motor with an AIM-54C seeker but it would interesting if we had in-game if it had a Mk60 motor along with other interesting variants.

AIM-54s and the AWG-9 do not reacquire targets during the SARH phase/phase before its active. During the active phase it does reacquire you.
-
That's what an AIM-54C would do IRL. In-game, however, it doesn't do to limitations with the game so a PD-STT shot (I believe) doesn't go active unless the aforementioned ACM cover is up, the PH-ACT is on, or you launch within 10 miles. Not like you would make a PD-STT shot at those ranges considering PAL (An ACM mode which therefore uses P-STT) has a max range of 15nms and goes active immediately as well. AIM-54As also go active if you launch within 10 miles in PD-STT.

I thought the PL-5EII performs pretty well. It doesn't have the high off boresight capabilities of a 9X but I'll certainly say it's on par with the AIM-9M.
-
Overall, how well will the AIM-54 with the new API perform compared to the current AIM-54 that we have now? Will they have better CCM? Will they be harder to notch? Will they have longer range because it won't do the high-G turns that drain all its speed in the terminal? Will the AIM-54C-Mk47 be finally a viable alternative to the AIM-54A-Mk60?
-
Yeah my testing concluded that only the AIM-54 can be launched with the WCS on STBY as the AIM-7's have the launch button not lit up while it is on STBY. Even then, because the range of the Sparrow, it isn't worth it in the first place to use a "silent" Sparrow when ACM modes like PAL exist. For silent AIM-54 operation, you can select the radar mode prior to launch (like selecting PD-STT for a "Fox 1" guided by the TCS which wouldn't give a warning at all since it doesn't go active and allowing a loft profile while, if I remember correctly, choosing P-STT still does give an active warning when the missile is close enough for an active warning) and it will allow for totally silent operation or silent till active.
-
Yeah it's definitely an issue when you're RIOing and don't here any missile drop off and you start second guessing if the missile was ever thrown off the rail in the first place.
-
AI F-14s, as of this patch, still do not give RWR warnings if you're using an F-14 to fight them and if they're equipped with AIM-54s. If you use another aircraft like an F-18, you'll get RWR warnings like they launched in PD-STT but the missile will sometimes go "active" and go for you without warnings even after you notch the AI F-14's radar.

I don't know if I am the first person to discover it since I discovered it while playing around with the Tomcat in late May of 2021 but here's how it goes. You first STT lock someone with the radar and get in range for a TCS acquisition or manually slew the TCS over to the target (which wont give them the warning of course) then you switch the TCS slave to INDEP (or TCS) then switch the WCS to standby. Then you change the TCS slave to TCS/slave the radar to it (if you didn't do it already) and fire a missile (which you can still do with the WCS on standby). The target that you've fired at cannot evade through normal means to defeat a radar missile. Think of it of a TCS guided Fox 1 with the perks of a Fox 2 with the only problem being the gimbal limits. Here's an example I recorded with my friend when I was multicrewing in a PvP server: https://streamable.com/hfypvb. This of course has no place to be used in the competitive scene as it just is unsportsmanlike to exploit something of this nature. Feel free to hit me up if you need more info on this.

What does MULT TGT do in the CAP TGT DATA menu?
DSplayer replied to DSplayer's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Ah ok. Was wondering if it did anything to effect tracking like what the Do Not Attack button does. -
Does MULT TGT effect TWS Auto tracking or does it currently not do anything?
