Yes, sorry, I spotted that you’d said this as soon as I posted, hence my post was deleted

Really? I’m on a 1060 and I have no problems with it at all. VR performance in the Apache is better than the F16 for me (which is the 2nd worst performing module in VR for me, Mosquito is worst). I get solid performance from it in MP and SP, probably about the same as I do from the Ka50 in the same circumstances.

*some* people will find that. some will not. I went from zero to many hours with no problems at all. And others get sick instantly. To the OP - VR. Always VR. It’s amazing, as long as you can get your head around the fact that you will be very very very unlikely to get the performance and image quality you currently get in 2D, and then spend ages trying to tweak your setup to get that perfect balance. And then find it, just as a new release comes out and the performance game changes, so you have to start tweaking again. But… it’s totally worth it.

[Reported] IR Maverick (AGM-65F) - no release bug?
rubbra replied to LittleNose's topic in Problems and Bugs
Hah, I know what you mean! I posted on discord yesterday asking for help to work out what I was doing wrong - new to Harrier - and felt like it was a me thing, but couldn’t work out what it was. The patient folk on said discord told me their process, I wrote it down, went through it on active pause to make sure I wasn’t being daft, no luck, re-read Chuck’s guide, same thing. Then found this page. Made me feel a lot less useless! -
[Reported] IR Maverick (AGM-65F) - no release bug?
rubbra replied to LittleNose's topic in Problems and Bugs
I *believe* I’m seeing the same thing, though have also found that SSS to INS will allow me to launch (so no need to cage/uncage). I don’t have a track but do have a youtube video showing the behaviour. (And can easily make a track if it would help - it’s 100% reproducible for me) I thought I was going mad… The youtube video description documents the process I was trying to follow, but essentially, I find target, uncage Mav (in range), cage collapses so lock achieved, SSS fwd to set IRMV as SOI, try to launch, Beep, launch fail, try a few more times, then press SSS fwd again (INS == SOI), launch. -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
rubbra replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Has anyone else found that this mod is mostly not needed in the latest update? I've got significant fps gains, particularly in the Hornet and 'Hog. Viper is still worse, but still a good 10-12 fps higher than previously. I can only put it down to the "Fixed a bug leading to a drop of performance when rendering a water surface" line in the changelog - I fly a lot of persian gulf... -
Well, if you’re not flying in VR (which I’m guessing you’re not if you’re on a 48”), I’d click on the High preset and start there.

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
rubbra replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I wonder if it might be helpful to start a new thread for this now, as there seem to be several "variants" of this patch around, and getting a consistent and useful story about how to apply them all is quite hard from this thread. -

Just to be clear - the correct procedure is to install Kegetys "original" for 2.7.0xxx, then install 3Dmigoto ? -

Do a DCS repair. Apply Kegetys mod - the most recent version from page 1 of this thread. Then get @lefuneste01patch. Extract it to your desktop or somewhere temporary. Then go in to the bazar/shaders/deferred folder and remove decoder.hlsl . Then copy the remaining (3 I think) files into the DCS equivalent folder, e.g. bazar\shaders\deferred and overwrite accordingly. -

AMazing! I can confirm that applying Kegetys, then @lefuneste01's patch WITHOUT replacing decoder.hlsl works and gains significant fps. Thanks! -

Thanks for all your efforts. Done all that (many many times) before and just done it again now. Same problem. Back to stock shaders! -

1. Unzip Kegetys original, stick the files in bazar as instructed. 2. Unzip @lefuneste01's mod, stick those in bazar 3. Start DCS? If so, yes, I've done that. Sample output attached (apologies, phone snap of the 2d screen). -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
rubbra replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Interesting. I put all my shaders back (manually), flushed fxo/metashaders. all good. Applied Simplex. Did the F16 Night Fighter Intercept instant action mission. Same problem. Did a DCS repair instead of manually putting shaders back. All good again. Applied @lefuneste01's version. Waited a long time, as expected. Same problem. Repeated the same on my HDD (old DCS install), by updating it, then doing the same as above. Same problem. So not install specific as far as I can tell. (Just to clarify, my SSD install was a fresh one, not a copy/clone of the old one). Other weirdness - the main menu, with the mig29 in the background; that's now got cataracts; milky/faded. -

Has anyone tested lefuneste01's version on the F16 and night missions? I just got surprised by black sky, white ground, bright grey/green cockpit except the MFDs and DED which were thankfully as normal. Wondering if it's my install being corrupt (I've cleared out fxo and metashaders and repeated the problem), or a general problem with the mod. Reverting the mod, all goes back to normal. Well, I’m on Syria and the latest beta. Hotfix applied (and I’ve just reapplied it to test). No problems at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

How so? If you mean, it throws errors - check one and two pages back, there's a hotfix version which works just fine. -

I have the same in the A10C-2 if I turn on cockpit lighting. Looks like Jackson Pollock’s been in with the grey paint, or like some sort of urban camouflage. -
I honestly wouldn’t worry about faster ram. I mean yes, faster is faster, but probably not measurable or noticeable by a human. More is definitely better. Faster, not so much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have the same problem with Liberation missions. It’s RAM, I’m 99% certain, at least in my case. Paging to a fast device can mask the issue a little, but paging is still “I don’t have enough RAM for what I’m asking the computer to do”. I didn’t have those issues when I had 32Gb ram (previous laptop system, rubbish GPU)

Whilst not a mod that was affected by this lua change (it already failed IC), I wonder if it’s possible to allow kegetys VR shaders mod to pass IC? It’s a performance boost (for my system at least) that can nearly offset the performance hit of MP in VR… Basically I can’t do MP without it, and can only fly non-IC with it. VR setup - My best advice to you and........ I guarantee it.

Yes it is. Same folder as ODT. You can't get the GUI version to use them. -

Not all, I’m saying that the highest possible frame rate is often NOT the best. oculusdebugtoolcli has options for: asw.Clock30 asw.Clock45 asw.Clock18 asw.Auto asw.Off asw.Sim45 asw.Phase45 Which is how OTT sets them. -

Perhaps but highest possible framerate != best experience, at least not always. I get a better experience limiting frame rate to a factor of my HMD’s refresh rate (in my case 36, half of the 72hz of my Quest 1) than I do if I am running at 50fps.
