After the 10th try I finally finished the mission and Gunman 3 arrived to replace me. But when I was on my way back to base the game froze then broke... I don't know what caused it but I wish to help with the improvements of this game. Thanks for the campaign and all your previous replies. Keep up with the good work.

I actually tried more than 5 times for this specific mission. At the beginning I felt suicidal as well but then I got the point that this is a campaign that intends to make you one of the top ACEs. I also realized that the manpads are really easy to dodge since they are infrared-guided only. As long as you turn to the heading that makes the manpad on your 3/9 o'clock and release a lot of flares while maintaining high speed, the missile will have a more than 90% chance to miss. Then you make the helmet SOI and mark the launch point using the missile trail and come back you can take it out easily with a lasered rocket. In later missions there would be a really low cloud cover that blocks you from spotting your target from safe altitude, but it is also a good practice for you to handle this situation when you have to rely on your naked eyes to tally targets or how to manipulate tgp at low air. Just adjust your attitude to take the campaign as a difficult training rather than an obstacle that stops you from completing the story. You'll find it really helpful in improving your airmanship.

About mission 14's RPG
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Thank you so much this picture definitely helps I'll try it after work. Lots of love. -
It is said that the RPG is located on the roof of a 2 story building 600 feet northeast of the burning truck. But I've looked at every single building in northeast with my TGP and I still can't find the RPG. Also there is a really really low cloud blocking my view and hindering my search for the target. I have to fly over and over again underneath the cloud to try to find the RPG. This is really annoying and unnecessary. So could you please remove the cloud cover or just remove the label restriction in the campaign or simply tell me where the rpg is? Many thanks.

Currently it doesn't work on any aircraft.

About mission 8
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Tried the 10th time, did exactly what you said, stayed behind orange line, still got shot down by the missile. The only difference is I got shot the 3rd round this time. But I dodged 2 missiles before so don't see much of an improvement. -
About mission 8
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
I know, because I failed the first tank team once. But I restarted the game because I just can't let my teammates die, even in a game. I'd rather die for them -
About mission 8
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Thanks for your really patient reply and advice, truly appreciate it. But the thing is the JTAC asks you to use cannon to shoot the enemies in the woods with a heading of 330, then egress with 90. And the range of cannon is 2.0 knots. So if I keep shooting till I'm within 1 knot from the targets then turn to 90 to egress, I'll be at the edge of SA6's or manpad's range (not sure which one shot me because I'll get locked on first but when I got shot down there was no lock but a fire warning) and wake up the air defense. Afterwards the JTAC would ask me to come back for a second attack. That's when the missile hits me. If I use cannon I'll come into the missile's firing range definitely. Even though I only enter for a very short period, I'll still give them a chance to fire, especially in the second round. -
The real problem of the mission is after you destroyed the 2 tanks. The ground units would ask you to support them with your cannon. Then when you do this, SA6 would shoot you down. And if you search for the SA6, your friendlies would be eliminated. So unless you know the exact location of the SA6 then blitz on it before your ground team requests support, you and your ground units can't survive. Don't know why they design it that way, perhaps they think it is funny.
-
Literarily there are dozens of SAM in the operation area, there is no SEAD support, there is no intel about the location of those air defenses, and the ground units are crying for help. If I deal with the air defense first, the ground friendly units would be wiped out. Do you guys think this mission is either realistic or entertaining? Do they really send A10 in when there are countless AA missiles? Tonight I tried for the 9th time then still got shot down by an SA6 when I was supporting the friendlies with my cannon. So who designed this mission and why?

A10C engine catches fire for no reason
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I've never seen that but when I have my xbox elite controller connected to the computer, it would shut off after a long time with no input, then a lot of systems would shut off at the same time even if I never touched them. Perhaps your engine shut off is related to the other devices which are turned off automatically. -

I supposed so. I DCS bird is just a variable which is not affected by altitude. -

Now I feel really annoyed when I have to fly at night for any campaign mission. -

I guess it's based on the campaign's setting. In Operation Persian Freedom the random failure and bird is not overwritten. But the F10 view can't show your current position even if I turned it on in the setting. -
A10C engine catches fire for no reason
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure it's not enemy fire. I was not in the combat zone yet, actually still 16 miles to waypoint Marshall, and the combat zone is waypoint 6, I was like 50 miles away. It must be a bird strike but how can a bird be at 20000 feet? Is that realistic? I did turn on the birds because I thought there would be actual birds flying in the game, tuned out I was wrong. But what kind of bird can fly at 20,000 feet? Is it even scientific? -
I was playing the Operation Persian Freedom today, and I was flying at 20k feet. Then all in a sudden my right engine got on fire. The same thing happened to my left engine once when I was flying the Red Flag campaign in Nevada. Does anyone know what was going on? I put out the fire but the engine can't get started again even if I turn on the APU. What should I do to handle it?

HMCS's symbols are extremely faint
Seabiscuit1985 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
Thanks a lot, totally nailed it. -
I've already tuned the brt to 100% with DMS, but it is still really faint compared to the symbols on HUD. Is there any other way of changing the brightness of HMCS? Thanks a lot.
