  1. my poor GFX card :( what is the expected Performance hit? would it be noticeable?
  2. I actually tend not to create a steerpoint at all. I write it down and manually slew the pod. because it's JTAC we are talking to our TGP is slaved to the IP or to another target waypoint in the same grig block. so all I need to do is slew the TGP to the coods given and seek for the targets/mark. for me, it's faster this way.
  3. watching the twitter page I actually saw another thing that drew my attention. can that reefer to the rumors about DCS:F18? As for the dedicated server, considering the fact that the server only needs to track the mathematics of the units, I really hope it would allow other OSs to run the server. i.e Linux. I hope that they will be able to follow the Half-life server model and supply us with a dedicated binary, that does not require game license to run. I'm fine with TS model of licensing - free for community, paid for commercial applications, so if someone wants to sell you a server they need to pay ED. if a squadron wants a server, it will be for free. that way ED has the ability to partially monitor that their efforts are not going for the "wrong" hands.
  4. I've been running with a profile I wrote of my X52 for a while now (since Beta2 or similar). I've started toying around with HawgTouch and discovered that I don't have any MFD OBS in the controller options. I've dug in and saw that I'm missing the options in by profile while in the default there are a lot more options. I've then decided to load the default and rebuild my profile from scratch. I've loaded the default profile and when I hit OK I've got the error attached. Win7 x64, running as Administrator. Thank you, Uri
  5. In old times, when INS accuracy was required (TOSS bombing for example), you would have a point, not too far away on you flight path to the target. which is very distinct and with a known location. you would have this point configured into the system and you would fly overhead and hit the mark key to the INS. that would reset the location to preset and correct drifts. it could have been a bridge, a major junction or even artificial structures.
  6. Never said I was talking about A10s :) First time I saw one of them was at Eglin AFB last year. I was talking about other airframes which I'm more familiar with background of their their ground operation. basics should be the same. when you are in A-A scramble you need to be airborn ASAP. some time you'll sit in the squadron and wait, sometimes you are in the cockpit waiting and sometimes engine is on and you are on STBY. on A-G it's more complex. if you are headed out for a strike on a pre-determined target, you should have time to study the target and plan the attack. if you are out on something else (emergency response to an event) you brief enroute (it's developing so targets may change very rapidly). so the alert time is much shorter in these cases. and if there is a PLANNED ground forces activity, and you know they might need air support, you are on station when as they ingress and leave once they are out safely (or the next formation arrived on station to releave you). This is probably the case in Afganistan. because you always have something going on. I'll not be surprised if there are two pairs on station in different sectors supporting multiple ground OPS at the same time. with their "releaving" jets on short notice to scramble on station if the on station jets are tasked for an event.
  7. I'm pretty sure they have "short cuts" The most time consuming task is the INS alignment. I guess that they have the INS aligned and powered up via external power source. so when they climb aboard it's APU, engines, avionics take off external power and go. it's probably 30' to 60' alert. (rather then sirens buzz and run thing usually associated with Air to Air scrambles)
  8. that's what I think.. but do we know that for sure?
  9. Hi Folk, I was wondering about the meaning of "every frame" in the above setting. couldn't find it documented anywhere. in addition can I put a custom value there? say I want the MFD at 400px but I don't want to over render or interpolate. thanks, Uri
  10. Release of 1.1.0.6 has broke the installed (no version recognition). I ran the manual install but unfortunately, I have no one to test it with :|
  11. Maybe it's still defunc. Could be Magnification 1. I.e. no digital zoom. If that is the thing. As you DMS up the number should increase
  12. I did the same. just delete the columns in the profiler regarding SHIFT modes. then clear the pinky switch programing. (make sure it's unassigned). BTW - do you have any idea regarding the MIC hat? I've got TMS\CMS and DMS\TRIM on stick and COOLIE\SLEW on the throttle and the slider is the CHINA switch. I can't figure out were to put the comms.. toggle switches on stick?
  13. found it. thanks :)
  14. Hi sorry for being so rude, I'm new around here and couldn't spot any for the moderators to send a PM to. I've bought the Beta, and can't find what should I do to gain access to the Beta forum. As I said, I'm a bit blunt here, but I'll be happy if one of the mods will send me a PM so we can continue this off forum. Thank you very much, and sorry for interrupting. Uri
  15. I actually built a X52 profile without Pinky switch on profiler. I've added the Pinkey as a modifier within the game and program it from withing the Options. This way I can set DMS, TMS, CMS (and trim\views) on the stick. and use the throttle hat as SLEW and COOLIE. all I need to fix is the BOAT (which will be programed on the slider using bands on the profiler. and move the ZOOM, Resenter, for the sensors to a better place on then the toggles on the stick
