  1. AA mode - yes Cooled? I don't touch the IR Cool switch as I didn't think it was necessary for the 9X as the missle works perfectly when locked using HMCS. Slaved? Wdym? I thought it slaved to the locked target automatically when I hit uncage.
  2. Hi... This occurs when locking bandits at BVR (using radar screen not HMCS) and closing to the merge. Occurs in RWS, STT and TWS. Bandit is locked (head on), I close to within firing range of Aim9x, uncage and I may get a lower pitched tone, but missle doesn't track at all even if I get very close before firing. If I activate the HMCS and then restablish lock with HMCS, uncage, I get the higher pitched tone immediately and missle tracks, even head on. Is this a bug? I'd like to lock from further out and beable to fire without having to point my HMCS at the bandit also.
  3. Bro, I wish I was technically savvy enough to know how to do this.
  4. I think it's my router, but I don't know why. I wired my PC directly to my modem instead of modem-->router-->PC and the problem stopped.
  5. I tried enabling QoS and that didn't help... I can enable static IP through my router controls and that did nothing also. Rebooted, factory reset all without result. The server will restart in an hour and the problem will go away for a day or two.
  6. This only happens when I play on GrayFlag servers and the admins on Discord tell me that it isn't a server issue. Every once in a while I log onto one of two Grayflag MP servers and I'll get a Connection Timeout / Server Ping Timeout error about 5 to 6 minutes after spawning in. This will occur over and over usually until the server restarts (up to 15 hours later). One day it will be their Persian Gulf map and the next time it will be on their Syria map. I havent had it happen on both servers at the same time (yet). Sometimes I'll play on either server for several days and have no issues, then all of a suddent I cant hold a connection at all until that particular server restarts. My internet connection appears to be fine and I only have this issue on GrayFlag. The ping number in the MP lobby screen is around 50-65 for both servers when this happens. I have reshade installed, but I tried uninstalling reshade and the same thing happened, so I'm confident it's not that. Any idea what this could be? Thanks.
  7. Hi... sorry for what may seem like a stupid question. I'm trying to trouble shoot some stuttering issues im having since the last MT update. Ive seen it mentioned to remove "unofficial mods," but can you explain the difference between official and unofficial? I just want to be crystal clear. I currently use reshade, which I know from reading other posts is "unofficial." Before the update I never had an issue using it. Has anything changed that makes reshade cause issues that haven't been problems previously? It looks really nice IMO. I also have the Echo19 sound mods installed for the F18 and F16. Is that official or unofficial? I have the C130 and blackhawk mods for Grayflag MP server. Official or unofficial? I use a "dark/clean hornet cockpit livery mod... again, official or unofficial? Ive run a slow repair and of these it only deleted reshade. So is that the only "unofficial" mod I have? Again, Im sorry if this seems like a stupid question.
  8. Hey yall, just thought I'd share my experience the last few weeks and see if anyone has any suggestions I haven't already tried... Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I play on GrayFlag Syria and Persian Gulf ALOT. I only play the Viper and Hornet and both modules are experiencing the same issues I'm about to describe. This has been on-going for about two weeks, however I think it started sometime between the first MT update and the second one. I first noticed it at a fresh server reset to the beginning of the Syrian campaign. I do not believe it started following one of the updates. I have a Maingear PC. It's a year old. I have an RTX3070 gpu, 5800X cpu, 32gb (3600mhz) of RAM and DCS Open Beta installed on an SSD with 134 gb left on the SSD. DCS is the only game I play, although I do have COD installed on the D drive. I use track IR, no VR. My experience after the very first MT update was good. GrayFlag Syria was smooth and I had no problems and experienced an increase in FPS like everyone else. After one of the server restarts I noticed a serious lag and stutter issue using both modules. The second MT update came and the problem persisted and became worse. Many others have experienced similar stuttering issues, but other users with similar PC setups are telling me their experience is very smooth and stutter free (mostly). The problems on Grayflag Syria, and to a lesser extent PG, start at login with what seems like an excessive load time when compared to other MP servers or ST mode. The load time on both Grayflag servers in ST mode is much faster than in MT. Once the server loads, my PC lags/freezes for several seconds when I click on a unit slot. Once the game eventually loads, I get about 1 minute of sub 10FPS while the module and map builds itself. After startup and takeoff I generally get 80 to 100 FPS on MT Syria, but I experience FREQUENT stutters down to zero FPS. Some stutters last a fraction of a second, while some can last 10 to 20 seconds. They happen frequently. They occur most often when I look in the direction of other player vehicles (short stutters) or when I activate AG radar and/or TPOD and MAV seeker on MFD's (long stutters, several seconds at a time, everytime). The stuttering persists almost continuously while the TPOD and mav seekers are in use, but they get better again when the AG radar/tpod/mav seeker are not in use. The server on syria is unplayable for me on MT, but other players report great gains in performance. The PG server has similar problems on MT, but they aren't nearly as severe. These same issues with AG radar/Tpod etc happen with the F-16 also. Performance on ST in both severs is much better, but I loose the top FPS gains of MT. When I join other highly populated MP servers like Hoggit. My experience is SMOOTH as butter on MT, but GrayFlag is unplayable. Single player is also smooth, no issues. Ive been active on the GrayFlag discord and I'm told its either a DCS MT issue or a PC issue on my end. Others say its a server issue, but the admin on the server are adamant that it is NOT a server issue. I've tried deleting fxo files, metashaders, track files, and cleaned up the temp files on my PC. I've completely deactivated Tacview and I ran a slow repair of DCS. Nothing has fixed the stuttering. I use reshade, which has never caused issues in the past and I use the "dark/clean hornet mod" for the F-18. The F-16 does not use any cockpit mods and has the exact same problems. GrayFlag requires the C-130 and Blackhawk mods which I have installed. Can anyone offer advice, or a new place to look for issues? I'm not the most technically savvy when it comes to the ins and outs of the PC, so if you offer technical advice outside the ability of the average user then I might ask you to give me a 'how to' explanation. Thanks in advance guys!
  9. does this mean ACLS does not work under "realistic" conditions for carrier landings in DCS?
  10. Sorry for the newb question... but how do I do this?
  11. I created a rather simple mission using ME and setup the super carrier for ACLS just as Wags describes in his YouTube video. Upon approach, everything links up just like it should. I got the tadpole, AP is coupled with the P/R indication on the HUD and the jet coast in for what starts to be a perfect landing.... About 10 to 15 second before touchdown, the jets drifts slightly left and ends up missing the wires and bolters and I can't figure out whhhhyyy. Then, when I go back around I can't get the P/R indication on the HUD, only the HDG indication as other players have reported previously. So it seems I get one chance using ACLS. I'm not sure why the jet drifts and bolters. I've landed fine using ACLS in a few MP servers I've been in. I have the carrier set at 15kts with a 10kt wind blowing over the deck at the same angle as the carrier landing strip. Anyone else experienced this?
  12. Yoooooo... I'm somewhat new to the simulator and Track IR. I've played with the speed and smoothness adjustments in Track IR program, but is there a way to get ride of that snap/lock in action the camera does when your head gets close to the horizontal and vertical centerline? I've seen some dcs videos where the players cockpit kind of shifts around with the movement of the jet and it adds quite a bit of realism.... My cockpit stays "locked in" when I'm looking anywhere near the center of the HUD. I have to move my head a few degrees before the view on the screen starts to move. I tried turning the smoothness down but then the movement gets all jittery. I'm not sure if this setting is in Track ir or dcs itself. Thanks!
  13. Recently I've noticed that when I try to lock up a SAM radar using the HAD, I'll get a very large axis error, but a position quality reading of PGM1 (the highest quality). This always results in a miss. Notice in the attached photo I have an axis error of 308nm, but position quality is PGM1. No amount of triangulation will bring the axis error down. I've noticed this mostly with SA10 and SA6 radars, but it doesn't happen everytime I try to go for a lock. Sometimes the radar emitter will be at the edge of the MFD and far outside the HARM footprint and still show PGM1 when I lock it up. The axis error will stay the same and far outside a launch parameter.
  14. Let me know if this opens back up.
  15. Just got a new PC a couple weeks ago and DCS was the first game I downloaded. I got a Maingear Vybe with a 5800X and RTX 3070 with SSD and 32gb of Kingston Fury RAM 3600mhz. My monitor is an LG 32" 2560x1440 at 165hz. I'm having real trouble with aliasing where the low level clouds (set to ULTRA) meet the mountain peeks in the Caucasus map. I mean, it's very noticeable. My MSAA is set at 4x and any MSAA or FXAA changes that are made in the Nvidia CP don't seem to do anything. The only thing that helps is changing the SSAA setting to 1.5 and dropping MSAA to 2x, but my performance tanks by 20+fps. Is this the same issue that other people are describing in their posts? I'm not using VR. Any word on the fix if this is a bug issue?
  16. Hi yall, Does anyone tinker with the NVIDIA control panel settings for DCS purposes? I bought my first PC a couple weeks ago for DCS specifically and Im trying to lock in the best graphics settings I can get. Im running a Maingear Vybe - Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3070, 32gb Kingston Fury RAM 3600mhz, 512gb SSD. I have an LG 32'' monitor at 2560x1440 144hz, Gsync compatible. I dont think my FPS/performance right now is bad, but given my limited experience with a PC, I dont know if its optimal and I'm just wondering what more I can get out of my system. I primarily fly the Viper. No helicopters, so I fly high most of the time. There are a few youtube videos out there where the users tinker with these settings; both the global settings and program specific settings. There are a number of comments on these videos that claim DCS is not affected by these changes. I'm not sure what to believe. Any info I've found on the forum through a search has been relatively old or not applicable. I'm currently running most of my settings on high or ultra (if available). MSAA is 4x, SSAA is off, SSLR is on, SSAO is off. Most of the slider bars on the upper right are set at about 65%. Preload bar is low, anisotropic filtering 16x. I also use reshade and I find it adds a nice touch. The biggest graphical issue I notice are the jagged lines in the distance, especially around mountain peaks or where low clouds meet with mountains when flying high. If I turn SSAA to 1.5x it fixes the problem completely, but at a cost of about 15-20fps. I'm just wondering if adjusting any of the AA settings in the Nvidia control panel would help with the aliasing a little without costing so much FPS. If yes, then I would like to know which settings you change and to what setting? TIA
  17. Yoooo... I just got my first PC... Maingear Vybe - Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3070, 32gb RAM. I bought this PC for DCS. I've been wanting to move away from console for a looooong fucking time! I'm glad it's here. I also ordered a Gladiator NXT, TM TWCS throttle and Trackir. My plan is to download the F-16 and learn that for now. A couple more days and my setup will be here and I'll be logging in for the first time. So what should I do next? I've been reading chucks guides on F-16 cold start and takeoff... but what about getting good graphics settings or figuring out what controls to bind to my stick and throttle? I don't have rudder pedals at the moment. There are so many videos and <profanity> out there i don't know where to start or what's legit and what's not. This is my first PC so I'm still learning the ins and outs of PC stuff also. Should I download Open Beta or release version? Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
  18. But I thought Freesync doesn't work with Nvidia graphics cards? Atleast not always... Nvidia has a somewhat limited list of "Gsync compatible* monitors that have freesync.
  19. Hi y'all, I just pulled the trigger on a new Maingear PC primarily for DCS... Ryzen 5800X, RTX 3070, 32gb Kingston Renegade Fury 3600mhz RAM. Track IR and Gladiator NXT stick are also on order. I can't wait to get started. Im now shopping for a monitor. Im thinking 1440p and 165hz... would that match my PC specs well? I'm also confused about the whole Gsync issue. I know what it does, but is it truly necessary for DCS? I've heard both yes and no to that question. The "no" people said something to the affect that the FPS don't get super high in DCS so that dialing back FPS on a monitor with a lower refresh rate to avoid tearing isn't needed. I'm not sure if this is true or not? The "yes" people say I will get tearing without g-sync. Gsync compatible monitors are much more pricey than the freesync only versions. I just dropped almost $2500 on the setup so I'm approaching the end of my budget. How many of you with similar specs are using gsync? Do those of you not running gsync experience lots of tearing?
  20. I wish I could try it, but unfortunately it's not an option. Thanks for the reply. I'm really eyeing the 3070, for the price point, but I'm hesitant and not sure if it would be worth spending the extra $$$ getting the 3080. I know lots of people say there's a big difference especially for VR, I just don't know if I'd really notice it much given that I've never played and I'm coming from console games. I plan to start out with trackIR first just to learn. That way I don't have to remove the headset everytime I need to find a certain key or read a guide. I would like to progress to VR once I get the hang of it.
  21. Hello y'all. This is my first post. I'm trying to get into DCS, but I'm looking for some advice... I'm a long time War Thunder pilot who is shopping for a new PC to start playing DCS. Now, to give you a bit of context, I've never owned a true gaming PC, nor am I very savvy when it comes to the ins and outs of building or choosing a specific platform. I currently play War Thunder on PS5 and have only ever owned consoles. The idea of getting a true gaming PC is new to me, however I have been researching the topic on various forums, websites and discords for the past month or so. I'm really looking for opinions on PC setups for DCS. I've done some research on my own and have found answers to many of my questions already. As for what I have planned in my mind, I would eventually like to play DCS in VR so I would prefer a PC that can handle VR well. There seems to be many different opinions about the visual quality when playing DCS in VR. Keep in mind that I have not played DCS before and only know War Thunder from my experience on the PS5. I have no previous experience when gauging the quality of the graphics in VR vs. TrackIR on DCS or how to compares to WT on PS5. When I buy a PC it will mainly be to play DCS, War Thunder and Warzone. I might download a game or two for my kids also. I've watched some YouTube videos and read some posts in which people running DCS in VR on a RTX 3070 (or sometimes older) graphics cards that are having a blast playing the game in VR. They really rave about the immersion and graphics quality and such. I've also heard from people that playing DCS in VR with anything less than a 3080 graphics card is not playable, at least in a way that can be enjoyed. I hear complaints about frame rate drops, blurry words/numbers in the cockpit etc. So which is it? I suppose it could be very subjective as some people have higher expectations than others. It's hard to gauge the quality of VR experience by watching a 2D video on Youtube, and I don't always know what graphics setting each individual user is using either. But is it really THAT bad with something less than a 3080 graphics card? My problem here is that I do have a budget when it comes to the PC I'm going to buy and I don't want to break the bank if I don't have to. I have the option for a 3060ti, 3070, or 3080 graphics card paired with good quality CPUs. I'm also planning on purchasing 32gb of RAM for the machine as well. Right now, the Oculus Quest will most likely be the choice of VR headset I purchase. If I can get an enjoyable experience in VR from a 3060ti or 3070, then I'd rather not spend the extra on a 3080. With that said, how would VR perform with that setup using those three GPU's in predominantly medium or high graphics settings? What could I expect for performance in VR when playing single player v. multiplayer? How much of a difference will I see from a 3070 to a 3080? How about the difference in between a 3060ti v. 3070? I'm just looking for an objective analysis of your experience I guess. Please, if you play VR and enjoy it, can you describe your experience and what you like about it and any problems you see with graphics etc. Please include your PC setup also! Likewise, if you've tried VR with any one of the GPUs I listed above and didn't like the experience, please tell me why and what the problems were that you experienced. Thank you so much!
