It has everything to do with patents and IP and GLPv3 licenses. GLPv3, in this instance, as Walmis explains, requires the base code being used to remain proprietary, which they seem to have done, or tried to do. Ripping out code from a decompiled executable (which itself is probably illegal under EULA TOS) does not meet the burden of proof that an infraction has occured. That lawsuit would go nowhere, and it would take years to go nowhere. You people are not lawyers. Or you're all armchair mom's basement lawyers. This and the RAZBAM thing and the reaction of people are what make the flight sim community toxic af.

Y'all need to chill. Consider the fact that these companies are all writing code based libraries based on the embargoed IP from the patents that just expired. Coders are lazy, and they are cooperative. If they get into a legal pissing contest their just gonna waste time and money like Apple and Samsung have been doing for the last 15 years. FFS people it's boutique FFB joystick bases for flight sims. Niche of a niche market. Hundreds of dollars are at stake! OMG!! That is not the kind of business where billions hang in the balance. Same with the RAZBAM thing. You people don't need to be taking up rhetorical arms under the banner of your chosen liege lord of some nonsense. Frickin chill. This is the flight sim world, not an Ayn Rand novel.

Too bad then.

Are you OK? Your comment makes me think you've got a LAN cable wrapped around your neck and you can't breathe very well. You look a bit hypoxic, rhetorically speaking. Let me help you understand simple concepts in context. That poster was whining that FFB wasn't in the early access module AT THAT TIME. The module IS IN DEVELOPMENT. As of this update they managed to get it in amongst all the other things. HOW ABOUT THAT? Did I say that FFB support was never going to be introduced during early access? No, I did not. My post was relevant at the time and therefore fit the context. I guess that due to the loss of brain cells from your auto-erotic asphyxiation hobbies you don't understand that forums are a linear thing and post order is based on when it was sent. You can look it up. Don't hurt yourself. Go see a neurologist and get an fMRI. I'm really curious to see where the dark spots are.
-
Oh yeah they could totally do the J model as an add-on and I'd give 'em a tenner. I'd also go for the G or F. I wouldn't pay for another module though and I probably wouldn't go for any A-D model.
-
When YOU decide to buy an early access product YOU AGREE that you're getting involved in an incomplete, broken, buggy thing. You get to report issues, not complain that the thing that you want to work doesn't work yet. You are allowed this privilege at a discounted price. If you want to complain, cough up another 20-30 bucks for what the module would cost at full value. That's your wahhhh tax.

Try getting rid of the zip file. After you've expanded and installed the mod you don't need it anymore anyway. Leave it in your downloads folder or wherever in case you need the files again. since it's track ir check around for any external heat/light sources. when i used track ir incoming light from lamps and even the sun coming from around the window shades would wreak havoc on the sensors.

You still got it for the EA price I don’t see a downside.

This is something that has been sorely needed across all of DCS for over a decade. seems like low hanging fruit for AI workflow.
-
The problem with most extensions is that they tend to invert image colors and render website controls invisible or unusable, so I avoid them and wait for web designers, app designers, etc. to get on trend.

Never seen the option buried down there. No other forum I’m on puts it there. I looked for it in forum settings and when I didn’t see I assumed it wasn’t there. Thanks. And I don’t come here very often. When I say that the bright white screen is painful I meant it. It’s physically painful and when I lower the screen brightness the text is illegible.
-
Reading the forum is actually physically painful. Let's let go of the light and join the dark side! It's been needing this for a decade. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's asked for this. I don't know where else to drop this request so here ya go. Ah I see (painfully). Move this to customer support > site issues (for my sight issues).

Broh how is this not a thing yet? Seems like low-hanging fruit to me. Don't really need the whole jet to be flyable that's boring, just let a broh jump into an AI tanker's boom slot (boom boom slot giggity) and help other brohs get gas, broh. Broh alls I'm saying broh is that you can probably do this when you get around to making Combined Arms good. Don't @ me Broh.

Tease me with the possibility of the full study sim A-6E. It's literally the only thing I want. I bought the Phantom to support you guys.
-
Yeah found that in the other thread. The ability to dial in discreet PID loop set point params is still a front burner need.
-
How is this not front page news? Thanks bud had no idea Bob was there (just like his Top Gun 2 namesake). That said I'd still like to see a full George-like GUI so that I can set specific alt, IAS and heading or bank angle or turn rate (like auto standard rate turn), which could be separate from the AFCS/ DAFCS autopilot that is actually on the aircraft.
-
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned as a planned feature or if someone else has already put it up (especially in one of the threads with vague titles - I’m not reading those) but the Chinook needs an AI George copilot. Just chop the George code out of the Apache so he’ll fly the heading speed and altitude requested. No reason why I as the aircraft commander should have to fly the dumb part of the mission by hand. I’m the boss. I should be drinking coffee while he does the boring part.

Absolutely. In DCS, sometimes we don't have a lot of time in order to get a lot of training in. My squadron, for instance, is split across a bunch of time zones and some of us actually fly for a living, which means early morning, which means that regular practices only yield an hour, hour and a half of flying. If we have to kill each other, respawn and fly at each other and get into it, we only get a few reps and sets. If we're working ground targets, dropping GBU's and other weapons which require a lot of system knowledge, it's the same thing. You want the option of dropping the real weapons with the real systems (CCIP, CCRP, pods, Anti-radiation missiles, whatever) without having to constantly reset. It burns a lot of time.

Along with the insurgent assets, there needs to be a mechanism for IED - perhaps it's a randomization script, perhaps it's part of something larger in the dynamic campaign world. As for the factions thing, just because ED isn't talking about it doesn't mean that it's not heard. Either they haven't figured out how to do it just yet or it's somewhere further back on the priorities. I'm not a software engineer, but I work with them and I've learned that nothing is ever as easy as we think it is.

T-38A Talon - Community Mod by Veco Simulations
trev5150 replied to Copprhead's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Yeah that's a confusing thing, isn't it? Mod can mean modification, but it also means Module, since the installs for ED aircraft go in the Mod folder. ED has nothing to do with this. This will be an aircraft that you download for free (probably donation) and put in your User > Saved Games folder, like the other community aircraft i.e. the Black Hawk, A-4, C-130, OV-10, and so on.- 90 replies

Of course we all know about Mk-76 blue death bomblets and training bullets. That's just dumb bombs and bullets, end the bullets can still do damage. I'm talking about a mode that allows you to use any and every weapon as a paintball round. Everything from bullets to JSOW's, AIM-120's. Everything. The point is to shoot all the actual weapons (all kinds), have them function normally, and the result is paint, without having to make units invulnerable.
-
I'd like to be able to build training maps where I don't have to make everyone invincible (because I want people to suffer the consequences of CFITting, mid air collisions, and other dumb stuff). I want users to be able to employ weapons so that they can get that muscle memory and do all the things, and we can see weapons effects by blobs of telltale paint on whatever gets hit. In other words every weapon is Blue Death in this mode.
