DCS World 2023 Screenshots and Video Thread

The phrase is generally vague, but it's a wonderful concept that separates good pilots from great pilots. It can be interpreted a few different ways, but how I've thought about it is, "Think about where you're aircraft is going to be in the next 30, 40, or 50 seconds." When I was in flight school, there were moments in my lessons when we'd be on our way to a different airport or location, and I'd take the time to look out the window and enjoy the view. I'd look at the clouds, how far out the horizon was, and maybe get curious about some warehouse off in the distance near a river. "Do they make boats? Is that why they're near a river? Or is it because of some sort of regulation that requires them to stay away from residential areas? It could be because of logistics." And then, my flight instructor would break the thought process with, "Yo, are you planning on violating airspace?" I'd check the GPS, and we'd be fast approaching airspace we're not even tuned to. Then he mentioned, "You can't fly 'fat, dumb, and happy.' You always have to stay ahead of the aircraft." I figured being good at controlling the aircraft was enough, but it wasn't until IFR ground school that I realized how much work it took to stay ahead of the aircraft. So, I made this video showing how I fell behind my aircraft and how I caught up to it. To be clear, this isn't a "how to fly a CASE I pattern" video; it's a "how to stay ahead of your aircraft" video. At least, the way I interpreted it.

Beginners Guide to DCS World Aircraft Mods
YhandisH replied to RedBeard2's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Can anyone help me with an IFLOLS land trailer? I've been struggling to get it loaded on DCS. I think it's a mesh-related issue. Blender does turn it into an edm file, but it doesn't show up in model viewer. Also, I have zero experience with Blender. I think it's a miracle I got the textures onto the actual model. The only reason I'm messing with Blender is because I got tired of the DCS IFLOLS trailer always being broken. -
I have the trailer but not the working ball. On the other hand, I just started working with blender to see if I can port over an IFLOLS trailer from FSX over to DCS. Not sure if that's something that interests you.

This was a tough pass for me. The turbulence did not make it easy. -
Are you referring to the pressure-demand oxygen breathing sounds? I think this is it. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3321967/

Honestly, I didn't bother checking to see if others were having issues because I figured they would fix this promptly. It's almost February, and my guys still work the catapults like, "whatever, we'll launch you when we get to it."

I might have an unpopular take on this, but hopefully, this video I made helps. I suspect the LSO is gauging whether you EGTL based on the VS (it probably involves the throttles as well, I'm unsure). In both of these landings, I pull back on throttles about the same amount (excuse the stutter), but one passes the EGTL test, and the other does not. The only difference I can spot is the VS accelerates when I earn my EGTL. That definitely was 3PTSIW. Even though he had a few degrees of pitch, the nose gear should sit a little lower since it's not on the ground (unless it's broken, but I don't think DCS simulates that). I'm unsure if he did EGIW, but it does sound like he cut the throttles hard just before landing (check the temperature gauge in the IFEI; it falls a good bit as well). He also spools up exceptionally late. Edit: To clarify, I'm speculating on what's going on. When I get my EGTL, you can hear my engines spool down a bit. In the OK part, I don't loiter near idle as much.

[Solved] VAICOM> no longer works with F-18 after DCS 2.8 update
YhandisH replied to IronStar95's topic in VAICOM
I just lost my comms menu due to the VAICOM issue. Any word on how to get it back? I uninstalled VA, and renamed the DCS saved games folder to get a new one, but nothing is working. This comms issue has me grounded. -

I decided to post one of the first videos I made in DCS. My recording settings at the time weren't optimized yet, so there is some lag throughout the vid. I wanted to reshoot it, but it's way too much work, and I didn't want to deal with the random disappointment of the shots not being right then questioning the whole scene, etc.

It would be nice if the trailer worked. -

I've been having this issue for more than a month now. Multiplayer/liberation. I'll do about an hour-long flight, fly all the way back to the carrier, start my descent (about 30 nautical miles out) then it freezes and crashes. I thought I had too many active aircraft in the area, so I started deleting flights, then reducing static objects on the carrier, but even with a nearly empty deck, I crash, and it's usually on decent.
