  1. Nice! Im going to give this one a try. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the insight! Truly a must read to anyone doing runway attacks, at least I know I wasnt doing it good either (but will improve in it). My opinion is that people tend to try "mechanize" their attacks by following guides and videos, that way you wont screw up in the most critical moment of the operation. This causes that a mistake made by one, is now made my many.
  3. Terrain: South Atlantic Difficulty: Beginner Time: like 15-20 minutes Download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3342952/ I was planing on making this mission part of a "mini" campaign set on the the south Atlantic that I hope I can continue when I got more free time. But until then I decided to share this mission with you guys. Im not an aircraft expert so many of the limitations, weaponry and design was mostly to be a fun little mission. Fly through the night without exceeding 3000 feet (I give more room thinking in people that are new to air to ground during night missions, so it is actually 3.700) and blow up the enemy next generation main battle tank.

  4. Amazing I dont want to even think what people are going to think about our current sims in 100 years. "like... screen on your face?... ALL THE TIME?!"
  5. This is a problem with todays industry: the unfinished status of most of all products, and it has been getting worse now that we are on the age of "Live services" that translate to "unfinished but with a reason". the problem is the lack of communication and commitment. The moment you put something on the store and ask for the price they are asking (which is not cheap by any means), you ahve to deliver. So when the product is not just there but also there is a radio silence about its development people are going to lose trust and people will get upset. Maybe they have to switch their business model or they development process. Or (on the best of the worlds) they will continue developing those models and on this 2025 we will see more of those modules finished. Personally mainly fly on South Pacific, so having a full release would be nice.
  6. VR all the way, at least when im going "all in", it is my way to go. Specially because you dont have to move your head but keep your eyes on the screen, for me it is a more natural movement than the track IR. But I understand the shortcomings of VR: - If you need to use more key, you will have to take off your device to press the key - The cost in performance of having VR. When i tried (or just play without any "immerse" help) track IR, it was really nice to have everything in high and also have good fps
  7. I kind of enjoy editing missions and creating campaigns. But I got your point: it can get boring or too much time consuming (more than what it actually does). Try joining multiplayer games (like im trying to start doing) or play others people missions / customs campaigns, so you dont have to be constantly testing/designing/etc
  8. Hello! I have a couple of hundred hours on my F-16 DCS module (just to say that even if im no way near out of the "target practice" difficulty, im not a newbie that cant take off and land my plane) and I was thinking in getting into multiplayer DCS. Now, DCS is not game were you could just matchmake a battle, get your ass kicked and then call it a day. As a simulator I know there must be some tacit rules or good practices that will make the game more fun for me and for the rest of the pilots. So I wanted to ask for tips and suggestion for getting into the multiplayer part of the game. I know that the first more clear is to join a group or similar, but i play on short bursts and not that regularly to do so sadly, because of different irl stuff. thanks,
  9. Dynamic campaign And if someone can let me just let my dreams go wild: and overhaul of the Combined Arms module, it has great potential and ideas but its execution it... well, not that great.
  10. Hello, sorry for the late reply has been some crazy weeks at work, and when I did got some time, i couldnt find the DCS.log. AND when I did find it it didnt have any log of tried to initialize the game before it went unplayable (but at least it give a clue to were to look). Anyways, I mange to make it work. So thanks Nah just kidding, ofc Im going to put the solution here: I followed the hoggit guide to DCS on linux (https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/DCS_on_linux). I had previously use it but the game was still crashing. What i did to make the game work again was the following (it is pretty much the tutorial btw): - Updated wine through the terminal (idk why but pacman -Syu didnt updated it before, and i update weekly). - In case you didnt had it, install the "d3dcompiler_47". I had it because of the ED tutorial, but if you need it you can run the following command on the terminal (assuming you have protontrick installed not as a flatpak): protontricks 223750 d3dcompiler_47 - I forced the compatibility of proton to experimental and (because it keep crashing before start up) I added this launch option: WINEDLLOVERRIDES='wbemprox=n' %command% And now it works perfectly. It took me like a while to get the game running again, so Im pretty happy. I leave this here in case someone needs some help with DCS + linux in the future.
  11. Hello, let me start by saying I know Linux is not supported by DCS Ok, so a couple of months I installed DCS on my Arch linux system using the DCS guide to install the game on a Steam Deck (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/SteamDeck/) and it worked really well. I was working on some maps and one day it stopped working (i cant remember what changes I did to my system). No splash screen, nothing, it just crashes. I have to check Steam to see that the game just stopped working. I tried to use the lutris installation but more of the same. I checked the integrity of the files, deleted the game and then reinstalled but nothing. Do any linux pilot can give me a hint about what could be the issue and how to fix it? How did you install it? Thanks
  12. Thank you both for your answers While I was testing a map to create a track file to share to you I realized that the TGP was kind of "circling" between mods (if it makes sense), while also (during active pause) i realize that the target was moving slightly... but the plane was not moving. Testing more, testing less I come with the conclusion that during my break the stick that I normally used for the TGP broke a tiny little bit: not enough to cause any other damage than start to moving (slightly) the target of the pod, unlocking the area mode. I remaped the controls to some buttons and it works as intended. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks
  13. I tried with some Jdams and some Mk82 500lb laser guided bombs. I used the default loadouts in those cases to avoid any incompatibility, and mounted myselft the test environment on the editor
  14. Hello! I recently come back to DCS after a break and, sadly, I change my computer so I had to bind all my keys again. My issue it with the TGP: How can i set it to "Area" mode (aka is doesnt move with the plane movement rather it stay on aiming at a place)? I have seen tutorials and all I read it is "TMS right short" bur for the love of God I cant make it work. Is there some requirement to make it work? idk some object to track or some settings on the TGP? I know this is a huge skill issue on my part, but please dont be mad at this returning pilot
  15. A Dynamic campaign would be awesome and I hope is high in priority because it would add so much content to the game. Like others have pointed out here, sometimes you spent hours learning the module and then there is not too much to do. Unless you want to spent hours creating and testing scenarios
  16. This is so much needed! I stopped using it because it was too confusing so cant wait for a refresh on a UI and user experience as a whole. This module can really be a game changer for the DCS
  17. Hello! A couple of months ago I start to dig into the mission editor of DCS. I wanted to learn about the tools and, in the process, create a simple mission to practice my flying skills and Air-to-Air combat in the F-16. So I create this simple patrol mission were you start cold on your base and then have to go through 3 way points before RTB (if you so wish it. You can end the mission after clearing all the 3 points by using a custom radio option). Each way point is kind of randomized with different types of encounter, you might have to fight on each point or you might have a pleasant ride until RTB. But dont worry, even if your luck is not good and encounter enemies on each point, you should be able to clear it (I have tested it a lot). This mission is not set on a realistic world conflict, I just picked the liveries that I like, so feel free to change it on the editor if you dont like it. It is also not very long, it should last between 25-50 minutes depending on your fuel usage and luck. On the other side, it is not very complicated (I designed for me, and Im not even close to an Ace) and it is perfect for anyone still learning how to flight the F-16, or just someone who just want to chill and blow up stuff without fighting the same encounter again and again. I upload the mission files to the DCS servers. These are the links to anyone interested: - Daytime patrol on its single player version (You will have an AI wing man): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3329722/ - Daytime patrol on its Coop version: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3329723/ - Night version of the mission, Single player: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3329724/ -Night version of the mission, Coop: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3329725/
  18. Thank you all for your answers! I'm gonna get Syria first taking advantage of the current sale. Thank you all again!
  19. First of all, I dont know if this is the right place to ask so sorry if I should ask on other thread. Well, the thing is that i want to make the jump to a new map. I mainly flight the F-16, but from time to time i like to take off on my F-15C or the A-10A. Im getting familiar with the editor so Im not afraid to use that tool to make my own fun. but ofc having a good share of already missions and campaigns is also a bonus. All this introduction is to ask what new terrain should i get to mainly fly an F-16? My first idea was to get the "South Atlantic" one because is it in has part of my country in it. Sadly the price is kind of really high for a map, and the comments that I have read is that the map is really not worth it. So should i just get anyways to play in my country or should I get instead Siria or the Gulf (or other)? Thanks,
  20. Thank you all for your answers and sorry for the late reply, I was too busy and tried to create a track file. It looks like is a "skill issue" problem. When trying to replicate it i was missing significantly l hit many of my targets, specially if I can laser guide the bombs. Thanks again!
  21. Hi, after my share of A-A combat I have decided to start learning A-G combat and the art of dropping bombs. Im currently trying to properly use the targeting pod but many times I drop my bombs with CCRP and targeting pod my bombs falls a couple of miles short or a couple of miles too far. Am following one of the guides I found and have try a lot of bombs. I have also, sometimes, hit right on the spot but many times i just miss all of my drops. I select the correct profile, use the targeting pod to aim at the target. Align the azimuth steering line to my flight path maker, and press the weapon release button when the solution cue "falls" to my flight path maker. And sometimes hit, many times just miss by just some meters. At first i though that I was just too high, so I lowered my altitude (it is my own mission without ani-AA guns, so it is fine) to about 4.500 but still got too short. I also remember that, when I do the start up of my F-16, a align my INS in norm until i got the RDY on the DED, even the INS indicator havent reach to 10. Could this be the problem? So my question is: Am i doing something wrong or forget how to put some values? Am i too high? Or is this just a skill issue and i just have to practice my flight path? Thanks!
  22. Brilliant. Get 5.000 of them and make them fire in 5 minutes intervals, no more drones problems
  23. Thanks! I was about to ask the same question. I already finish the included missions in the module and the other campaign requires to buy a map that is really expensive. Good to know there are several ones coming. Lets hope at lest one is on the base map (or at least something more affordable)
  24. Those are some nice pics. Thank you for sharing!
  25. Awesome movie... i cant believe I just watch the original Top Gun a couple of month ago (oh boy... my life would be different), and was afraid Maverick was just a cheap excuse to grab "nostalgia money" but man... it is really good. It improves in every aspect of the original. The only aspect were the original is better, is on the music side, all the other aspects of the movie are better: better phasing, effects, etc. Really a must watch movie for almost everyone.
