I was anti-submarine air controller in the US Navy legendary actually So a couple things I want to mention here is sh3@ sh2 are by far the only helicopters used for asw Unfortunately sh2 is not available in DCs hopefully that will change Dipping sonar is not just active it's also passive in fact it's only used as passive it's very rarely ever used as active there's no sonar out there that you suck it unless they're getting ready to actually shoot their target Problem with using an active sonar as it gives away your position Must usually the sh-2 helicopter tows the MAD towed array Sh3 can use the Toyota Ray but they prefer to use their dipping sonar instead in passive mode Totally is took 50 ft below the helicopter and 170 ft behind it All of these helicopters generally operate about 2 to 300 feet AGL They will refuse to operate any higher than that S3 is also used as an anti submarine airplane S3 ASW is a primary mission for ASW they tow MAD about 400 or 500 feet agl They also drop Sona buoys and torpedoes P3 Orion it's also a primary ASW submarine Hunter They can stay on what station for a long long time they generally fly about one thousand feet 2,000 ft like that They carry lots of Sona buoys and they will lay sona buoys fields 16 to 20 sonobuoys in a field pattern They also shoot torpedoes V22 Osprey It's becoming the dominant ASW platforms They carry way more sonabuoys than the P3 or the S3 They can stay on station for many many many hours they can become stationary so they can dip sonar Keep in mind when these aircraft dip a sonar they will not move it's essentially that they're anchoring their cells in their considered anchored vessels It is illegal to travel within 500 ft of those aircraft because they are anchored aircraft they do not travel at 15 knots of stated before If they need to move the command is "break dip jump..to x" whatever that is These aircraft are always in close control of the anti-submarine warfare air controller on board ship The ship is generally directing them where to look There's obviously a lot more but these are just a few of the things that you need to warm up to and get used to when you're talking about anti-submarine warfare and how aircraft actually do that function And the aircraft that actually do this functionality because in DCS a lot of the aircraft that do this are not functioned properly for anti-submarine warfare There seem to be function for moving troops and stuff like that cargo but that's a secondary function for all of these aircraft S3 the P3 the v22 sh3 sh60 sh2 which really does need to exist in DCS because that is the aircraft that fly from Ticonderoga Early Bird like ships like those are all the hazard Perry has two of them they're smaller and more nimble and that's why
  2. i have already done all that that is not the issue this all works fine in 2.7 it does not work in 2.8
  3. the ships are attacking now but they werent before but apparently its vvery inconsitaant whem open this firum they stop attacking each other now they only attacking subamrines bt submarines arent shooting back but the submarines still wont shoottheir torpedoes and missiles. i can get them to do it in in 2.7 but they wont shoot in 2.8 i am an ex Naval Ops person so i dont really know army tactics so well but i do know naval tactics and strategies very very well thats why it matter to me. 321.trk

  5. I cannot get the ships 2.8 to attack each other how can I shut off auto update in 2.7 to keep it from updating 50.8 is what's on the horizon I don't want 2.7 to update how do I shut it off
  6. this video launches entire airwing using al of the cats you get to see how to set up you F/A 18 for ACLS you will get to see the carrier turn and you will get to see at least one elevator lower if your in the correct position to see it which is usually on the beam of the carrier this one takes about an hour and you should be able to use your f keys there will be a more comprehensive video shortly showing tuning into wind out of wind lanuching and recovering of all the aircraft and you can see marshal stack and marshal push as well you will see that soon when i get more time so i can make sure there are no errors in it this video is unedited it is what it is happycarrier.trk

I would like to see Tacans added to all of the ships so they can actually use the small boys or the tin cans or ticonderoga & Arleigh Burke & Oliver Hazard perry as by their name in their actual rules which would be plane guard AAW Pickett (air warfare picket) Red Crown & ingress egress points (iff duties) ( identification duties) surface action group or SAG even launching and recovering helicopters So second would be the addition of the SH2 Sea Sprite helicopter which is what is actually used on the smaller ships it is smaller and more usable on those ships than SH60 it would be nice if we could actually launch and recover helicopters on those ships Tacans would aid in that notion Using them to hunt for submarines is probably a reach but I used to do that in the Navy. But they could be controlled through AI to land on a ship or take off from a ship I think pretty easily Also as I was operating some AI on the aircraft carrier I noticed one time the elevator was actually able to take a airplane down to the hangar deck and the hanger deck doors opened up as well But I noticed that when I'm bringing more aircraft to the deck for launch they just kind of Spawn onto the deck It would be neat if the planes would come up on the elevator actually have the elevator bring them up to the deck don't you think Maybe they do already there's a possibility that I've been thinking that maybe the elevators are moving too fast and you can't see them when they move up and down And also I know the people ask for this I don't know what the possibility is But I noticed that some of the planes are backing up on their own That doesn't happen Pilots did not drive the airplanes around on the deck of a ship But that's a very busy crowded places so when an airplane moves it's always moved by the crew and that prevents it from being damaged from bumping into other stuff and all sorts of things happen so possible to have a crew actually move the airplanes around that would be really really neat And that would help prevent them from spawning and blowing each other up as I saw somebody mentioned in a video When my plane spawn they don't do that but I normally only do that in single mission I understand that that happens in multiplayer missions Unfortunate enough that I can build a whole Deck with planes that are not static My understanding they are all flyable I put up a video one day I'm still testing but it's working pretty good like Tom Cruise said it looking good so far Just a few things

Laser is line of sight like uhf radios What this means It will not travel around the curvature of the earth However If you can see it from altitude Line of sight Like your vision You should be able to lase the target About 11 to 15 miles from altitude Probably more if you can zoom like a laser pod allows It is line of sight and you definitely lase more than 8 miles in good atmospherics

Pilots always have the option to use ACLS if they choose On a carrier it's not like the game either they either run case 1&2 or case 2&3 together this always gives the pilot in command the option Captain's really don't want the pilots crashing all over their deck Lenny too hard destroying the landing gear and things like that Real carrier is an actual working environment so they work overtime on keeping it as safe as possible So if somebody feels like they want to land with the ACLS that they can easily switch it on and use it It's always there and it's always available for them

Saying this first I love this game the visuals are absolutely correct I believe However As a retired operation specialist in the US Navy I can tell you that the weapons ranges and accuracy are not even close And the sensor ranges are not accurate either These are tiny fixes and widely available data I'm sure that they could be fixed easily if we can see a way to do that As an example see with system does not shoot 10 or 15 miles it shoots 2 miles it's a close and weapon system used for self-defense against missiles usually That is just one of several problems that I have noted

  11. I put up carrier ACLS on the user files mission The carrier is already set up all you have to do is go and apply the mission it's super easy you should be able to get ACLS to work. Right flight parameters Remembering that your airplane has to be and ATC landing mode and it has to be in condition Not dropping into the water. Are you really have to understand about buying ACLS to play a little bit above the needle so you have something to come down to because of your underneath the needle inclined to get above it that close going to be at have a problem. However with my mission you should be able to make it function I don't know what the link is but you can find it in the user files
  12. You have to set the trigger actions If you can watch this video it will explain how to do that You have to do it the hard way but after you do it it'll work happy ACLSing ( new word)
