  1. So, I just took the plunge and was able to solder wires from the display control rocker pads to my non-working MFbuttons. This caused some weird things with unrelated buttons also getting pressed, but (by luck, I think) there was a unique button fired for every MFB from 1-20. Most of the rockers can't but used anymore but I am fine with this.
  2. One of my MFDs had two buttons (20 and 7) stop working. Thrustmaster was great about it and sent me a replacement. I still have, and use, the old one but I have to use a modifier to gain access to the GAIN and SYM buttons I sacrificed for 7 & 20. Has anyone ever fixed non-working buttons? I'm not bad (okay, I'm not hopeless) with a soldering iron, is there a way I could remap some of the BRT/CONT/SYMB/GAIN keys so that I could recover the use of the multifunction buttons?
  3. Well, another consideration is that I am tinkering around building a duct-tape and chewing-gum simpit, and am using an old keyboard's controller board as the interface between the switches and the computer. As such, I'm already going to be using many keys for other things. I'm not sure I'd have enough to go assigning HOTAS buttons to keys as well. Although... maybe I could assign them to directX buttons instead. Hmmm.
  4. Thanks Eduardo, Up until now I was just using DirectX mode and configuring everything in DCS settings. The composer I was mentioning is the one in Foxy: the sheet music icon immediately to the right of the word Apps on the 2nd toolbar. I think that's what it was called, I might be mistaken. I did the same as you, so the detent was the safe position. I probably won't go ahead with this as redoing everything seems like too much work for a slight convenience. Maybe later, as I compile a larger list of reasons to do so. Thanks again! Mike
  5. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the behaviour of just one axis without changing anything else. I ask because I got it in my head to use the MAN RNG axis to control the Select Jett knob in the F/A-18c in DCS. I used the composer and got it to work, but when I tried to use the UNCAGE button to trigger the jettison button it didn't work. Then I realised that nothing else worked anymore. I switched back out of Button and Axis Emulation and everything was back to normal. How could I make the change I wanted to make without having to configure everything else in a joystick file as well? I read something somewhere about being able to map the axis to DirectX buttons, would that make a difference? Thanks, Mike
  6. Wow, I should check the forums more often. I can't remember the exact details now, but I got everything working great in the end. I want to say that the problem was the sensors were slipping and I just needed to tighten them up, but I can see from my picture that I had already attempted that by then (the superglue on the nut). Shrug. And whatever the D pin problem was I got it resolved. Don't get old; memory like a sieve now.
  7. So should they have held the update back until all these bugs were resolved?
  8. I'm having similar problems. Although my RWR does work (but the font is very thick making it hard to read). Did you ever find your solution?
  9. Now that you mention it, one of the wires kept slipping out of the connectors that were used (the amber coloured things on the right of my picture). That might have been the loose one. Well, now to see if I can actually get the hall sensors' axels inserted back into the gimbal. Things look right, but they aren't going in far enough, I worry that there might be two holes that need to be aligned and I have messed that up. Thank you for your advice! Much appreciated! Mike
  10. Oh! Well the Y axis does not work well. It is mostly okay in pitching down, but only has about the first 20% of the range pitching back. And sometimes it jitters all over the place. I'm pretty much broke feeding the kids, if anyone can get help me get myself back in the air for minimal costs... well, it would be much appreciated. Also, how on earth is one to get the sensors D pins back in? I can not get them to go in back to where they were. Thanks, Mike
  11. My stick pots look very different from what you have pictured here; mine are short metal cylinders. Will your replacements work for me? Is there a mounting adapter? AmI just really confused?
