  1. If I remember correctly: Press '7' to go into AtoG mode. Press 'o' to turn on TV targeting system. Press 'd' to cycle through weapon pylons.
  2. I think, as a tester, that it is just as important to tell the designer what they did well, not just what they may have done wrong. So in light of that: Whoever designed the takeoff and landing tutorials deserve a good pat on the back. Well done. I was pretty impressed with the series of takeoff tutorials as I was having a particular hard time of it considering the amount of grass I tore up on either side of the runway, but now I can get off the ground more or less down the centerline of the runway. I have never had such problems taking off so I was really putting off the landing because they always give me trouble. Well, finally I bit the bullet and loaded it up last night. I could not imagine how DCS might set it up such that all this information would not be flying at me so fast that I would not be able to keep up, but the tutorial was so well organized and the special interface really helped me figure out how to orient the aircraft and maintain speed, manifold pressure and RPM. Well done guys!
  3. No I saw the same thing: What I meant was that they might be coded to always act like they are under hydraulics pressure that is giving some force to extract them. But I get that it is a WIP, which is why I spend my nights testing it to help if I can. :)
  4. I am testing the behavior of the landing gear with and without hydraulics. In the case where I have activated the lever to shut down the hydraulics and the gauge shows zero pressure, I can set the gear lever in the 'down' position and it behaves as it should: The lever goes down, and the landing gear drops. If I then try to put the lever in the 'up' position the lever will not move at all until I reactivate the hydraulics and the pressure level is high enough to raise the gear. I would have expected that the lever would have been able to be moved to the 'up' position but the gear would remain down.
  5. Is it possible for this thread to be moved to "Bugs and Problems -> Flight Dynamics"?
  6. OK a bit more testing. I flip upside down, then pull the hydraulics release valve, which should cause the bay doors to fall due to gravity but I am upside down so gravity should hold them in. What really happens is that they flip out anyways. In regards to the landing gear I think they also might be scripted to fall, but I did note that as the gear is falling, if I nose over to produce neg-G's the gear will start to retract again but they are moving as though under power of the hydraulics! I think this whole area is not fully coded yet, or they may not even think it is important. I just figured they would have wanted more attention to this detail when they do not have to invest the effort into complex avionics or weapons, so I thought I would just point this out for them :) After all they spend a great deal of time on how the little landing gear on the tail behaves!
  7. I was very careful to keep the aircraft level when I dropped the gear. It should not have enough pressure to engage the locks so when I slightly rock the aircraft I should see the gear move about, until I complete the full rocking motion to cause them to snap into place. Ill see if I can create a video to demonstrate it.
  8. Just a quick question regarding the hydraulics. When I use the pressure release valve for the hydraulics I see the pressure quickly go to zero on the indicator, and the gear doors drop down as they should. But when I set the gear in the down position I kinda expected them to fall down from gravity, but it almost appears they are being operated by what should be non-operative hydraulics and they even lock in place the moment the are fully down. I was expecting to have to rock the plane a bit to get them to lock. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
  9. I've been flying around this region for so long (LOMAC -> FC -> BS -> FC2 -> BS2 -> A-10C) that it almost seems like home. :)
  10. I am sincerely hoping that my current licenses for Blackshark-2 and A-10C will be able to migrate into DCS-World so everything is integrated. I am worried that I will have to purchase new licenses for both. :(
  11. So now I know when I was going to get the details for Black Shark.... in the Black Shark 2 upgrade! Money well spent and the airfields look great!
  12. When either deploying or stowing the landing gear of the Ka-50, there are two pairs of doors for each rear landing gear. Currently only the smaller one appears to move, but the larger rear one does not, resulting in the landing gear clipping through it. The top pictures shows it working correctly in BS1 and the bottom picture shows the gear actually clipping the door as it is closing.
  13. Trying to find the location where they are saved... anyone know? I found the single player ones in the /Ka-50/temp/ folder but no multiplayer tracks seem to be saved there.
  14. I checked the PDF properties but the date given is the one when I put it into that folder, and does not reflect the actual creation date of the file. Is the one on the webpage right now the most recent version of the file?
  15. So I had the manual printed out, but then I discovered I have three different versions of the manual on my computer!!! One that I had in my thumb drive (which I used to take to the print shop), another in the DCS A-10C install directory, and then I downloaded a new one from the DCS website to discover it is different from the other two. Is there some kind of version number hidden in the manual somewhere that can tell me which version it is or at least a date or something so I can determine which one is the most up to date? I fear I have spent $50 CDN for nothing. :(
  16. Thank you so much for killing the micro stutters I would get when I would fire a weapon for the first time or when something would explode. I am so happy right now it should be illegal. :)
  17. What are the various TS/Ventrilo servers?
  18. I had a similar problem when trying to buy the A-10C. To be honest I have no idea how I finally got it to work. :( I just kept trying different ways.
  19. I remapped the arrow keys as my trim control. Using the default key mappings were too tedious for how frequent I use the trim, and I have a joystick so I didn't need the arrow key default function.
  20. Many of the videos references are pre-release. Are they still valid? I was watching the ones by Tigerpwrr, specifically the Maverick ones, and even those had annotations indicating the some processes have changed. I would really love it if someone simply did all of the training missions included with DCS A-10C. They would not even have to talk, simply follow along with the training script. That way I would know what to expect as I performed them. Kinda like what Matt did with the two engine startup videos.
  21. I understand how most people here might not see much of a use for it, but for complete n00bs like me I would find it very helpful to the rest of the tutorial missions completed similar to the two you did for the startup procedure. It just helps to know what to expect and allows me to study it in detail. I found it a great help when I was able to examine the producer notes for Black Shark and that really accelerated my learning. Cheers, --Maulkin
  22. KosPilot I really enjoyed watching your track and thought it was pretty exciting to watch you challenge yourself. That tank kill was spectacular BTW as well as that high speed landing approach thingy you did at the end (without benifit of a HUD due to the previously mentioned tank destroying it). Great demonstration of your piloting skills. While I do fly with the AP channels engaged, once the feces hits the occillator, I tend to slam on the Flight Director so I can have full authority of the aircraft. I do like having the dampeners engaged to smooth out my panicked jerking around of the cyclic. ;)
  23. Thanks alot guys for your support! I guess my problem is that I am not the type of person that 'learns' from a manual. Once I fully understand something I can 'refer' to a manual just fine, but until I have all the concepts down the manual tends to confuse me. But I will take your advice and look at the landing section to see if it clears things up. In answer to some of your questions: Yes I set the ILS panel to what the CDU told me was the ILS channel for Bakumi and then turned the switch to the 'on' postion. I did know that it was an AOA indexer but had no idea how to handle it or what to do. I just assumed that the up arrow meant I was too low on my approach slope. What you said there makes alot of sense. I have always had trouble understanding " control speed with your pitch, control alt with your throttle" sort fo thing. Hard to get my head around. Yes I never saw the red/white lights turn on at all during the approach and landing. Thanks folks!
  24. To be upfront, I know almost nothing about the A-10C or US military aircraft (no, I never flew Falcon). I did pretty good with learning most about the DCS Ka-50 however and that is alot due to the Producer Notes videos on Youtube, the training videos that came with it, and the SimHQ videos. I can see someone doing it the right way. I really like the new implementation of the training as it makes you learn where everything is, but I also hate it because unless you already know where everything is, and what to expect, you might miss-time something and get completely lost. Or get to busy trying to figure something out and miss half of what he says and then get completely lost. I just tried the landing training and everything seems to go well right up to the point when I am following the steerpoint the ATC just gave me (heading 228 for 30 for Batumi), and the instructor is telling me I should expect something to happen on my HSI.... but it never does. From there everything starts to get wonky. I turn towards what I think must me Batumi AF and I see the yellow UP arrow appear next to my HUD but it never changes from that. The instructor mentions that there should be some lights at the AF to give some kind of indication, but that never happens either. Eventually I just land the thing using the old Mark-1 eyeball, but that is rather disatisfying.... I really wish Matt had completed all the training videos and posted them on youtube like he did for the engine startup sequence..... That would help ALOT. :)
