  1. I noticed that the Mi-17 manual was removed as well. Why?
  2. Hey guys, it's been some time since I flew the P-51 so I thought I might do a few QuickStart missions against the FW-190 and I noted that every time I fired the guns might frame rate would 'stutter', for lack of a better term. I have not noticed this with any of my other modules so I was wonder if anyone else has seen something like this?
  3. I think this was changed in FC3 because I don't remember it working that way in FC2?
  4. Like the manuals, the video tutorials are also outdated.
  5. Glad I could help :)
  6. It might be that your MSVC++ redistributable has been corrupted in some way. Look here for instructions: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-winapps/the-program-cant-start-because-msvcr110dll-is/f052d325-3af9-4ae5-990b-b080799724db
  7. Sometimes not?
  8. That is true the first paragraph says: "FC3 aircraft provide an easy learning curve for new players and focuses on a broad range of aircraft rather than a detailed single aircraft. " But that is not explicit and someone new to the DCS series might think that a clickable cockpit would be available, for example.
  9. I think that you got that wrong as well. It appeared to me that the original poster posted a question followed by what he thought was the organization of the naming conventions and establishing what he believe was a new baseline and then asking for confirmation. I think people have been a bit quick to jump on him thinking he was complaining. I think what set everyone off was "This is not possible anymore with the naming at the moment." which looks like complaining but I think what he is trying to say is 'how will new people coming to the sim not get confused?'.
  10. Ah got it thanks! That would be tricky to do as it opens pretty quickly so I would end up fooling with it a lot. I wonder why they changed it from FC2 to FC3? Thanks again! :)
  11. Oh yeah fair enough...but the A-10A does not allow for variable setting the brakes. It is either all out or all in. In any case I will use SHIFT-B and CNTRL-B to work around it. :)
  12. I have noted with A-10A that to retract the air brake I must press the 'B' button twice. I have confirmed this with both 1.2.6 as well as 1.2.7-beta, but this is not the case with either FC1 or with FC2. Looking at the throttle quadrant it looks very much like the throttle of the A-10C and according to the manual it is a two position switch so I appears that it should not function this way. Can anyone explain to me why the air brake functions this way?
  13. I am in exactly the same boat. Most of the times I am either flying around trying to figure out what I am supposed to do, or I get shot down because I. get frustrates and say F*ck it and go in hoping evasive maneuvering and CM's will get me through. In the campaigns I can follow the waypoints but normally I just get shot down doing that, and have no idea what I was supposed to be doing.
  14. The Ka-50 is different from the others due to how the autopilot channels behave. Try the same maneuver but first turn on the flight director. This will disable the three autopilot channels but keeps the dampeners on so the helicopter will still be relatively easy to fly. Otherwise, every time you change your heading (and not tap the trim button) the yaw autopilot will return you to the last set heading. The autopilots only have about 30% authority of the controls which you can fight against. If you go to external view you can see the yaw AP moving the rudder until your heading is back to the original.
  15. OK I think I get it now. I extracted the ELT-tone.ogg from the 'Elbrus Rescue.miz' file and put it onto my desktop. Then from my own mission I opened the advanced waypoint actions for the infantry unit, and selected the .ogg file I just put on my desktop. Then I saved my mission, exited the editor and opened my new mission file and found that the .ogg file has been packaged into the .miz file. Very cool! Now I need to test it out and see if it is working. :) Thanks Flagrum for all your help!
  16. Oh I know how to use an ADF (my first post shows a great example of how to do it in the Huey). I am simply trying to figure out how to set an infantry unit as a transmitter so I can practise it. This topic is about the editor, not playing a mission. :) I browsed among the single player missions and campain missions until I found one that does something similar and I saw that there were two stages: one to set the transmitter frequency, and the other to play an .ogg sound file in a loop. But what I cannot figure out is their choice of file. I cannot find it anywhere. The mission I am referring to is 'Elbrus Rescue' and if you look at one of the infantry units on the mountain top, one of them (the left group) sets a transmitter to a frequency of 40.5 MHz and then uses the sound file 'ELT-tone.ogg' that is played in a loop. Where did they find the file ELT-tone.ogg? It also looks like they did not use a triggered action, but rather used advanced waypoint actions instead.
  17. 1) OK I see what you mean now. Typically I was able to place the unit on the map and then continue to left click to set waypoints but what you described is much easier than what I was doing. Thanks! :) 2)I didnt really understand everything that was in that thread. I found in the "triggered actions" I could set a "perform command" action to "set frequency" but then they were talking about sending something and I dont know what they mean by that. They also mentioned a "Radio Navigation Beacon" but I dont know where you would get one of those from.
  18. OH! Ok the keymap list for the Huey just says "Pause-RShift". Thanks! What I mean by "pause works fine" is that I can press the 'pause' key and the sim will inactive-pause.
  19. 1)I am playing around with the mission editor and I noted that I could not set any waypoints for the UH-1H. Is this normal? The work-around was set up a flight plan for some other heli then change it to the Huey once I was done. 2) I am trying to set up a mission to test out what I saw in this video: At timestamp 2:20 he demonstrates how to home in on a beacon that some infantry have set up but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that in the mission editor. Can someone tell me?
  20. The key command list says it is RShift+Pause but I cannot seem to get it to work....anyone else having that problem? The pause works fine tho but I am trying to train up and sometimes I would like to go heads-down in the cockpit without crashing. ;)
  21. But only if you look in the Huey.....otherwise the are both dead and alive at the same time ;)
  22. Congrats! I feel for ya! The biggest lightbulb for me was when I learned to use the autopilot channels instead of constantly fighting them. :) For the longest time I would get frustrated and just flick the FD on but I have finally gotten to a point now where I am always trimming and I just let the Shark fly itself.
  23. No, of the non-beta module, only the P-51D and the A-10C have tutorials. I would not mind the videos so much if they were 720p resolution.
  24. If you want to fly the Ka-50 with a more hands-on approach, leave the pitch and yaw autopilot channels on (for dampening) and turn on the flight director. You can still trim in this way as well but it is not necessary. But really you should be using trim as it will make the heli a lot more controllable.
  25. Wow I would have never found that. According to the options my R-ALT-\ is bound to the SPU-9 PTT (push-to-talk?) in the 'collective' section...but I cannot find that device on the diagram. In fact the only radio transmitter I could find was on the Cyclic but it is marked as not operational (item #4 on page 6-6). Thanks alot for telling me this. I am now able to communicate in my P-51D as well. :) Rep inbound!
