Well this is actually part of the question. For deployment is there a specific dive angle and speed I should be using? I figured the pipper would calculate based on my dive angle and speed but perhaps not? Shouldn't the pipper compensate for the delay of the KMGU needing to open up first, meaning this is a bug in the sim?
-
Yeah but by 'early' I mean football fields early. Feels like the target pipper is off or something. If I switch to standard 500kg bombs they hit on target no problem, but the despensers are more accurate if I just ignore the pipper.
-
So I load up a bunch of these things (with PTAB's) on my Mig-29 and tried some practise bombing runs on a truck column. I line up the pipper on the first truck and hit the release while maintaining an unchanging angle of dive but it appears every time the little buggers fly right over the target. In fact if I want to hit any of them I have to release very very early. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here?

Yeah it is the weapon pylon numbers. I was tempted to take the graphic from ingame and paste it at the top of the table but then it would not all fit on one page. :)

One thing I noticed going from FC1 to FC2 was the change to the loadout interface. While I think the new interface is much better looking, I am still not used to the Russian based weapons, and would get mixed up what each would do. The old interface would give a small blurb about each weapon, which is missing now. So I put together a small Excel spreadsheet that lists all of the Player usable weapons on the player-flyable aircraft ((Su25T, Su25, Su33, Su27, and Mig-29S), and then has a seperate tab for each aircraft showing what weapons can be mounted on what hardpoint. So now at a glance I can tell you that the Su-33 can carry 10 x FAB-250 bombs but only three types of rocket pods are available for it and it can only carry 4 pods each, and only the Mig-29 can use the S-24B's, of the fighter aircraft. So far I have only the Russian aircraft as I find the American weapons and aircraft are easier to remember. I especially found this chart made it alot easier when I was mission building. In any case I have attached that file to this thread in case anyone else might find it useful. :) Cheers, 2GvSAP_Chief FC2 Weapons.zip

Anisotropic filtering and Anti-aliasing
Maulkin replied to topol-m's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Works fine with my nVidia 295... just be sure to create the profile for "simulator.exe" -
I just downloaded the stand-alone trainer and it is blowing my mind! This is a slick peice of software!

Where do you configure Anistropic Filtering?
Maulkin replied to Maulkin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Put it at 8x anistropic filtering and what a difference with no noticeable fps hit! Thanks! -

So there is no setting in a config file somewhere? You see I do not have an entry in the nVidia control panel for either Black Shark or FC2 and yet I am still seeing a considerable difference in appearance, so I am just trying to understand why. But in the meantime I will try as you suggest and see if the textures clear up a bit. :) I find it odd that both BS and FC2 are using the same graphics engine now but look so different..... -

The other big difference is the haze. I went through the graphics.cfg files of both BS and FC2 to make sure they had the same values for the above two screenshots. The only values that do not match now are: LandLodDistances { LandDay { L01 = 30000; (2000) L12 = 50000; (4000) } LandNight { L01 = 20000; (16000) L12 = 40000; (30000) FogParam : 10 (6) The value in parenthesis are the values in the BS config.cfg. I didn't change these because I felt they would not have an impact. -

I wanted to compare the settings I have for BS and for FC2.0 as they both looked very different, and BS seemed to look better in some ways. So I imported the A-10 quick mission into BS and converted the spawn into a Ka-50 so I could properly compare. See attachments. It apears to me one of the main differences is that the BS shot looks to have a better resolution ground texture or rather it has anistropic filtering. Anyone know how to adjust FC2 to be more like BS? -
Anyone convert any interesting Blackshark Missions to FC2?
Maulkin replied to 's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have been converting some of the A-10 missions into Black Shark ones. Works seemlessly. I just switch out the A-10 waypoints with Ka-50 ones and then hit fly. :) -
That site appears to be missing the download for the Su-25T and the UPT sections...?

Training in FC 2.0? I just bought, downloaded and installed FC2.0 and was going to start running through the training when I saw that the menu was empty. I checked the GUI manual that comes with FC 2.0 and saw in the example there (page 31) that they have all kinds of things there. I go back to my menu ingame and still nothing there but there is a 'Download' button, which is not described in the GUI manual but I click it anyways. Promptly I am set to the FC 2.0 homepage where there are a series of youtube videos linked. This is not what I was expecting! I was expecting what the GUI manual showed me and what Black Shark has, which is an ingame tutorial session which allows me to practice afterwards! Does anyone else have this problem? I did a quick search on this topic but ended with a bunch of stuff that appeared unrelated to this.

where are the REAL pilots of dcs black shark?
Maulkin replied to Bee_Sting's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Black Shark boring? Hell, I just recently felt I was getting good enough to handle a campian and this is my AA report after the second mission: I was assigned the mission to escort a transport column along a narrow valley. My job was to take over for a couple of Hind's that were already flying cap. As I arrive they do one more pass ahead of the column and then report that they checked the nearby woods and saw nothing. They wish us luck and head home. I fly over the column to get an idea of their composition and then fly a bit ahead down the valley to scout the place out inspecting all the surrounding woodlands then head back to check on them. I do this two more times when on the third time out I notice that there is a small village near the road up ahead. At that point a little voice in my head says "If I were designing a mission like this, that is where I would have the op-for pop out of the buildings and attack...". So I sit there in a hover on the opposite side of the valley facing that town. Sure enough the convoy comes around the bend and gunfire erupts from the neaby houses. Of course I already had all my rockets armed and ready to go so I let loose all over the town and kill all but a few stragglers that I set my wingman onto. Ahh good times. ----------------- Sure I have done some quick missions and blew up stuff for practise and I agree that can get boring after a while, but try one of the campains with icons turned off and I think you will have a different experience. -
I suggest for a test you try firing the rounds at a stationary aircraft. I tried that against a Hind that was landed (so was I for that matter) and the AP rounds barely made any affect to the physical appearance and the Hind looked untouched except for a few small holes. Switched to HE and the first shot blew it in half. The only rationale I could come up with is that the AP rounds are passing right through the aircraft.... but I fired at least 100 rounds. I only needed about 5 rounds of HE to completely destroy the Hind.

I have been reading about people having problems buring out the laser rangefinder and that they should turn off the laser as soon as possible to prevent burnout. My question is how do you turn the rangefinder on, and more importantly, off. And how do you know when the laser is burnt out. As it stands I have been doing missions and I have no idea if the rangefinder laser is burnt out or not. I have been simply putting the laser in standby mode (RShift-O) as part of my takeoff procedure. Then when I have a target I uncage the Shkval (O) and then lock the target (ENTER). When I am done I reset the target mode (BACKSPACE) which puts me back into navigation mode and I go on my merry way. So am I not really using the laser rangefinder and I am just getting lucky hits? Or am I not really turning off the laser rangefinder and I am just not noticing that I am burning it out? And if I am burning it out how would I find out?

I use the rudder pedals alot....and short bursts about 1 second in length. I also turn on the Flight Director. Took alot of practise.

Yes there is a heading autopilot which has been the bane of my piloting existence. Look at the panel with the big square blue buttons... its the lower left one. :)
-
ebgames.com has it but ebgames.ca does not. Go figure....
-
Actually I came to the same conclusion after training a bit with a squad mate and now I fly almost exclusively with the Flight Director turned on. In fact I used to turn off the FD when I wanted to engage autohover, but then I did a mission that had a high cross wind and turning on the autohover was darn near suicidal, so I just hovered by hand. Sure it was not perfect but I was not about to spin into the ground either. :)

Problem with full shadows and GTX 295
Maulkin replied to Maulkin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
ahh nm Did a google search on the problem and came up empty but then just thought of searching on here and saw this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=19868&highlight=full+shadows Looks like I am not going to get full shadows. :( -
I recently got a new system with a GTX 295 and Vista 64-bit. One of the first things I have done is moved Flaming cliffs over to the new system and turn everything on. I was a bit disappointed to note that when I looked at the external of the aircraft with full shadows, the aircraft was just a dark grey all over and that is it. If I turn off the full shadows then it behaves as you would expect with full planar but I was really hoping with this new system that I would be able to fly with full shadows from now on. Anyone else get this and/or have some suggestions?
