  1. Hi. I'm only a month in but totally hooked. I originally downloaded only 2.8 Stable, but I already have the itch for MP so want to look at Open Beta - but I have a few questions: 1. Is it generally a good/better idea to have BOTH versions on my system, available to use? 2. Any downside of having ONLY open beta? - do user file single missions (i.e., the great F15c training by N22Yf) work in OB? 3. I originally placed 2.8 Stable on my D drive (only thing on it), but I notice that DCS Saved Games is in C drive. Is it best to have them in two different drives? Could/should I consider "moving" / DCS Saved Games to D where I have the most available Free Space? Thank you!
  2. I've grabbed a few user files for single missions as I continue to build confidence with the F15c. Do user files generally indicate any module / terrain requirements? I don't have Syria or Nevada or Persian Gulf, but I sometimes see them referenced in the general description of the user file. Should I therefore assume it is required? And, if I download one and save to Missions, will it just not show up/work if I don't own a req'd terrain? Thanks.
  3. I imagine I'm one of the newer members/users here. I'm doing FC3 because I felt a bit intimidated to start with dcs. Plus, FC3 would give me Many options for a shockingly low price. I'm very satisfied, with my 3 weeks of use and I've basically done 99% of my time in F15c. Going to try the A10a(?) So I can see if I like pounding ground. But, I'm also going to trial the F16 very soon to see if FF is all that some say.
  4. I'm so disappointed in myself... but I'm still very new. Still should have known better. Was flying the helo hunter mission for f15c. Anyway, what does it mean that I "lost all my (combat) points"? Thanks. Keith
  5. Very helpful!!!! Thank you.
  6. Thank you. What is a good source for Aircraft = Missile types and their effective ranges?
  7. Still very new... I'm flying the F15C, doing a lot of training missions to build knowledge and muscle memory. I'm doing 1v1 BVR... is there a visual or audio indication on RWR for missiles? Pretty sure I just saw an "M" indicated in my last round. But doesn't happen every time. I assume 'some' missiles give off a signature that the F15c can detect, others cannot. Should I just assume that specific plans within a certain distance WILL launch? And, should I know which types of missiles they have (or maybe this doesn't matter so much?)? Active vs. Semi-Active - and how will that matter to me? I'm still noob cheating and using labels, so sometimes I can tell something is coming at me, but not always. I'll turn these off eventually. thanks.
  8. Wow, super cool! I'm going to spend some more time on individual training, then thus sounds exactly like something for me too! Thanks to the OP for starting the thread.
  9. Are those present in FC3 planes. I've seen the vortices on YT videos, definitely of the F16. But I'm very new and just flying F15c right now. Thanks.
  10. Had a feeling there's some creative solutions like this.
  11. Just want to say thanks everyone - great perspectives and advice. I'm sure a lot of this is going to play out as I gain experience and comfortability with the knobs and buttons and beeping and lights, Oh My!! It's so much fun and I love this learning phase. Thanks again.
  12. I'm very new here and to DCS, and sorry if this has been raised many times. I search G and YT but haven't found clear answers. I'm currently getting my feet wet with F15c /FC3. But, already looking ahead to other full fidelity modules. I cannot get my head wrapped around the challenge of having both my hands on HOTAS, but also using mouse (?) to click items in cockpit - e.g., selecting pages/options on MFDs. How do you all do this? You can't possibly use your right hand, can you? Or, is there really not that much to touch unless you're primarily in level flight? Would really be interested in the specifics of how most do this. Thank you!!
  13. I'm new to DCS (like 3 days new!). Very satisfied to know, at least, this issue is NOT on my end.
  14. Firefox! "Fire rearward missiles!" (Must think in Russian...) ++Sorry, couldn't help myself ++
