  1. There's also high quality versions of the original BS1 training videos to be found here: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=723940F5AE9B07BB
  2. I think it's very illogical to tell the player to "press space", when what you really mean is "press the control that is currently assigned to Gun trigger". Newbie developers... ;)
  3. Oh, thanks. I've been having the same problem. I had no idea that remapping the keyboard control assignment for the gun trigger will break the training missions. How are you supposed to know that, when all the training mission does is tell you to press space, not the gun trigger? Really stupid.
  4. Thank you for looking into this. It doesn't seem to be a very common problem, but at least one more person has reported the same thing in another thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1331270&postcount=2056
  5. I have now also tried the second Familiarization mission (Hotas functions), and pressing the space button worked perfectly there. But the Start-up mission still doesn't proceed when I press space. What is going on? Why is it that just some missions have this problem? Is the startup training mission working for everyone else, or did the patch break it?
  6. It's called "Flying legends", not "Flying aircraft that is completely unknown to all but aviation afficionados".
  7. I have only tried the first two, the engine startup and the take off. The first mission just stops after the first texts, when you are supposed to press space. On the other mission, space does not work either, but if I take off anyway, the mission continues on after a while, and the trainer starts giving instructions again.
  8. I just noticed that when flying a training mission, the space bar doesn't work any more, when it needs to be pressed to proceed. Does this have something to do with the patch, or is it a control that has been lost in the settings that I need to fix? I've never had any problems with this before installing the new version.
  9. Absolutely. It's totally understandable that it's too soon to give any details and answer all the questions about what features there will be, will we be able to do this or that and so on. But the types of aircraft have to be locked down and is not going to change, right? So you could at least tell us that... ;)
  10. Awesome! I use the mouse to look around too, and have always found it irritating to have to press a button to change view modes every time I want to click on something in the cockpit. Now I don't have to do that anymore. Thanks!
  11. Thanks! The videos you can download for installation into BS2 are very low quality (at least with my resolution, 1920x1080), so this is greatly appreciated.
  12. I know that, since I happen to be following this thread. Otherwise, I would have had no idea. And like I said, this is not just about the installer for BS2, but for all the manuals and other files on the website too.
  13. I couldn't find any indication on the website that the available installer is a new version. Am I missing something, or does this information not exist there? It would be very useful if version numbers and the dates when they were added were included on the website, so that you can see when a new version of something is available. This is especially true for all the manuals, the only way (that I know of) to make sure you have the latest version is to actually open the PDF:s and look at the dates given under "File - Properties". It would be really great if a version number, or at least a date, were added to the file names.
  14. The same happened to me, I started up v.1.0 (unpatched), and when the main menu started up I thought that was enough. But no, I also needed to launch a mission so the game activation kicked in. Did you activate the game before trying the new patch?
  15. Of course! Why didn't I think of that? I can easily change the mapping of the buttons on my Logitech mouse (but thanks for the link anyway). Thank you for the help!
  16. I just want to use one of the side buttons, to switch between view mode (looking around with the mouse) and interaction mode (clicking on things in the cockpit). Are the side buttons used for interacting with anything in the cockpit? Isn't that just the wheel and right/left buttons? It would be convenient to be able to use a mouse button for this switch function.
  17. I am trying to assign a control to a mouse button, but it does not work. In the control section, I can only click on and assign keyboard and joystick buttons. There is a section for "mouse" to the right that is inaccessible. How do you assign controls to the mouse buttons?
  18. Did you download the web or torrent version? I got only version 1.0.0.8 with the torrent download, but I have now installed the patch and got the latest Flight Manual.
  19. Hmmm..... I just downloaded the 1.1.0.9 full install package of files on the website (not the patch), and the Flight manual that was included (in the /docs folder), seems not to be the latest one. It was created 2011-04-01, and does not have the date on page 15. Does that mean that I also need to download the patch just to get the latest Flight Manual? Can I extract just the manual without installing the patch? EDIT: It turns out that I apparently only got version 1.1.0.8 installed. Even though I downloaded the full 1.1.0.9 (the torrent version). Anyway, I'll just get the patch and hopefully get the latest manual with that.
  20. I know what happened to the lander, some idiots used imperial measurements instead of metric, so it got lost. But what did NASA do about it? And what is a "slug workaround"?
  21. That would just be silly, everyone knows that Scientology is the best religion for both real and simulated pilots. Just ask Mr Top Gun, Tom Cruise, and John Travolta, who is a pilot and flies his own jets.
  22. Metric is easier, because it's always based on 10. 1 meter is 10 decimeters, 100 centimeters and 1000 millimeters. But 1 yard for instance is 3 feet, and it is 36 inches. It's not consistent and that makes it overly complicated. Metric is a much better system.
  23. That sounds really silly. First, the medevac would have to take place within range of friendly artillery. Second, how do you avoid hitting your own people? And finally, missiles like the Stinger or Igla have a range of several kilometers. Are you going to hit every square meter within several kilometers of the landing zone with artillery?
  24. I have now had it confirmed from the author of the blog post I linked to that he indeed did not intend to imply that the yellow mark on the airspeed indicator is related to this. He was just explaining the importance of 210 knots IAS when making sustained turns, and noted the mark that is located at around that number on the airspeed indicator. He uses that mark as a reference when doing combat maneuvers, but says he made no claim about the reason why it is there.
  25. I just found this on the DCS Wiki: http://www.dcswiki.com/index.php?title=Airspeed_indicator_%28A-10%29 "A yellow tick mark outside the scale at 200 knots indicates the maximum speed at which landing gear and flaps may be extended." Even though the mark is clearly above 200 knots, it seems to confirm that it is indeed related to the flaps (and landing gear). However, the information about the sustained turn performance in the blog post is still very relevant, and after reading it again I see it is not explicitly stated in that post that the mark is related to this, just that it happens to be the same as the breaking point speed for sustained turn performance.
