  1. Bought! Was waiting for this helo to finally come! Now I just need the DC and will be fully happy!
  2. Then I misunderstood you. To my understanding, the regions outside the three main zones won't be high res and, as others already pointed out, they will probably be similar to the edges of other maps. There will be terrain and some buildings, but nothing too fancy.
  3. This has not been posted specifically in the FAQ, at least not until now, but it has already been discussed here and in the interview made to Wags on youtube some days ago. They said that they will do as much as they can to reduce the price gap between players who buy the full map and the ones buying it piece by piece, but it will definitely be more expensive to buy the three separate pieces than the whole map. It's not that ED has lost it's mind, but a common practice industry wide. You buy the huge family pack, you get a special price, it's totally fair, as the ones, like me who bought the whole map right now are showing support for the creation of this content, hence the special price, then, it wouldn't be fair that someone that hasn't taken that "risk" gets the same conditions. Also, if you already know that you're gonna buy more than 1 piece of the map, why not buy it now with the special price , which would be much cheaper than even buying 2 parts afterwards? Price now, without miles, just the discount, is 48.99 USD, while buying two individual parts on their final price would be 60 USD. In my opinion, I don't understand how anyone wanting this full map would buy it by pieces. As ED stated, the part option is just for people who can't afford the entry price of the map, but if you're gonna end buying everything, why not do it now? In my case, I bought it the same day it was announced, and, by applying some miles, I ended up paying 40 USD.
  4. Cool, I didn't know about it, don't own the F-15 myself because I'm not really into double cockpit aircraft, but it's a nice feature, and it's even better if it's simulated in DCS.
  5. Thanks for your quick reply, I'm happy just knowing it will be internally discussed.
  6. I didn't really give it a thought on CPU usage, but it could be done in any other format or, as you say, images. Is that function that you mention natively implemented in the F15? Anyways, I'd like to know if ED has given some thought to this specific matter on the F18 @BIGNEWY, as I'd like to have it officially supported but, for the moment, I will give a try to your suggested workaround, I appreciate it, thanks @Foka!
  7. So I have been looking through the wishlist forum and haven't found any topics on this in the past 4 or 5 years. Is ED planning to add the recording feature any time in the future? From my limited understanding on how they would program this, I don't know if it would be possible to capture the FLIR video feed and output it to say a MP4 file for it to be used in briefings and so on. It may not be very useful right now, but I think that, when DC shows up, it could be very useful to send a reconaissance aircraft to scout a zone and grab some footage using the FLIR, so we could attach it to our briefings. Of course, I understand that this would be a low priority thing in the development cycle, but it would be an interesting feature for sure. Edit: It wouldn't need to be a super high resolution footage, as the camera on the aircraft itself does not display a very good quality on the MFDs, it would be enough if we could just get that footage and extract some images from it. That way, we could also avoid cluttering the hard drive too much.
  8. Couldn't agree more, it would be nice to get this feature, so here is my bit of support!
  9. As I said after that quote, they may have more reasons behind it, and I don't pretend to understand them because I'm not a part of the dev team, there could be more besides performance. I won't join a discussion on whether they are just talking BS or any other excuse for not including some sea. I just stated that neither you, me or anyone in the community have the full picture around the development. This is not intended to defend ED or anything like that, just giving an objective point of view of the situation. It could be related to a thousand reasons, which they are not forced to explain. The thing here is that the map is called Afghanistan, and said country does NOT have sea. Would I like to get it? hell yeah, but I won't make a huge drama about it. Plus I only spoke about that to put the thing in context, this is not the right thread to discuss about something that has nothing to do with Iraq and that has already been made clear on the appropriate one.
  10. While I would like to have some sea on Afghanistan map, I understand ED's decision to not make it possible because of performance reasons, usually, the players, in which I am included too, tend to see things from outside of the development perspective, and we might be overlooking things that are out of our scope, which is understandable too, but the criticism on this topic about Afghanistan map is getting a bit out of control, in my opinion. I'm not saying this because of your comment, but referring to the general situation around the topic. And believe me, I'm a huge fan of carrier ops too, and wouldn't mind taking a long flight with some aerial refueling to the carrier, but things are not always what we want. Iraq, on the other hand is very close to the sea in the Persian Gulf and has in fact a little bit of coastal line, so it wouldn't be a wild assumption to say that carrier ops will be a thing on Iraq map. Image for reference:
  11. Even though I believe destructible terrain will never come to DCS due to it being a huge technical challenge, I think that runway cratering could be feasible, as it implies just a small part of terrain that would need to be reworked to do that. I'd love to be able to manage UAVs though, that would be awesome, even more when the dynamic campaign comes, so we could send a reconaissance mission to report some coordinates and footage to us in order to do proper briefing and mission planning. That feature alone would drastically improve the game for me, and I guess that a lot of people would agree on this too.
  12. Personally, I already bought the whole map. This is all a matter of personal opinion, of course, but this is going to be one of the biggest maps so far (if not the biggest). I can understand the decision to split it. C'mon guys, we're getting it in june. I also want to get Bagram ASAP, but I can wait a bit for it, if it's going to be of a quality similar to Syria, which I love. My concerns are more about that big chunk of Pakistan and the other northern countries that are included, but with no airfields marked on them, will those be included at some point? Would like some clarification too on the Kavir and Lut regions, as stated in previous comments, they are far away of the map scope. Anyways, I'd like to cheer ED for the good work. Honestly, I didn't expect to be getting the early access in june. Edit: Removed the question about carrier ops, as it has already been answered.
