  1. Yes but now the question is how far away do they transition from box to actual models?
  2. I would like to create a mission wherein the flight has to bomb a particular building in a populated area. Well, maybe not populated since this is a war zone... Anyway, the idea could be that friendly ground forces have established that the enemy was holed up in said building and are requesting A10s to come and blow it up. The building may be laser-designated or WP marked... What I'm wondering is how to determine the building's destruction? I know about the "infantry-on-a-bridge" trick, but I want a more solid target, the idea being a direct hit required for a "kill." With the infantry trick, a near-hit may be enough to kill the infantry but not damage the building, but the "building" still counts as destroyed since the soldiers are wiped out ---- I do not want this effect, thus I am looking for a different method. One idea is to part a T-80 on the roof but then that would be a dead giveaway.... :music_whistling:
  3. MTFD, won't that mean I'll have to use TARGET software to set modifiers? Or are you talking about in-game modifiers?
  4. A question for TM Warthog users --- have you mapped your UFC Steer switch to your hotas? I find it hard having to set HUD as SOI to change mark points, and using the mouse to click the UFC Steer switch is a bit cumbersome as well. Or is there a way to cycle mark points outside of setting the HUD as SOI?

  6. I would pay no more than £20, or £30 for a full-color manual. I already have one, laser-color, loose-leaf on a 2-ring binder. I keep it near the bedroom sidetable to whack intruders over the head with. I can always say that I read that before I go to sleep and was the first thing I grabbed when the thief woke me. Support ED? Yes, definitely. DCS A10 is very well worth the purchase price. Buy TWO copies of one game? Not if a "hard copy" is all the reason to own one. But hey, if they throw in a poster-sized map of the region or some other goodies, yes. But just the game, a case, some spiel on the cover, and a quick-manual inside? No. Anyone here seen the Starcraft 2 collector's edition box set? If DCS A10 comes up with something like that, I'm in.
  7. No, unless the boxed version has a printed manual or other such goodies to justify a purchase. I will buy a second copy though, for a friend.
  8. Tested this today. At the default settings, the "dots" were viewable from 4nm or so, but would shift into proper tanks at 0.8nm. The shift was also very sudden, going from box to tank very clearly. Changing the lodMult from 1.0 to 2.0 and the tank was a "tank" at 1.2nm or even earlier, and I could not tell when the shift from box-to-tank occurred.
  9. Hi guys! I seem to remember a discussion about using mark points to setup a Maverick attack but I cannot seem to do the technique. I've not been able to search the threads either. Can anyone help? IIRC, the technique was to lock up each target, mark, then switch CDU/EGI to MARK and then cycle each mark point, slave Mav to mark point, then fire. My problem is basically my mark point is not where my TGP is pointed at, but where my aircraft is at :helpsmilie:
  10. No, no, not at all. You releasing your missions is not a "swallow of pride" act, it is a sharing act and I can bet the community is grateful. :thumbup: We will always have whiners and haters, and to learn to ignore them is a valuable skill. :joystick:

  14. Haha! I just did a flight through the mountains... this time starting at Tskhinvali and coming out at Alagir... I was wondering, was that the "Roki Tunnel" I've been hearing about from the missions? Weird floating trees along some areas though, but a very interesting (if lonely) route...
  15. Thanks for the tips, jeffyd! I'll be trying the coastal airports next. I've been to the town of Tyrn and yes, it was a "eureka" moment and then a "hmmm... inspiration!" moment. Sarge, try low-flying but following the mountain's contours :) StrongHarm, that looks like quite a flight. VFR? How long does it take?

  17. Runway start MP has you on the apron or one of the bunkers, yes. I'm looking for a way to be able to CHOOSE which bunker or where on the apron the aircraft starts/spawns at.
  18. My buddies and I have been flying out of Bantumi and Vaziani for most of our MP missions. I think it's time for us to move on and explore other areas. I've just had a "tour" of the upper right corner of the map, going through Beslan, Mozduk, Nalchik, and M.Vody... and for the most part it was a boring flight. Just a few rolling hills and then everything flat as a pancake. Nalchik and M.Vody were a bit more interesting... Nalchik is especially close to the mountain ranges and would make for some interesting valley flights. I was wondering if you guys have any favorite spots to fly/fight over in the current theatre? What's interesting in it? Any great airports to fly into as well? Looking for one with TACAN and ILS in particular, for training purposes, and hopefully close to some interesting terrain. I was hoping to stay south of Sochi as most of the northern part would be "enemy territory," but hey, if we know his place like the back of our hands, it'll make missions easier, so have at it!
  19. I do apologize, your second post was a bit more helpful than the first. Now telling me what I should keep and not keep to myself is a bit rich isn't it? I never said you gave WRONG/INCORRECT info, I just said the "look here and fiddle with these 'n' amount of options" wasn't much help. StrongHarm, I'm on a i5 750 and HD 5770 and I am getting the exact same "boxes" as mia389. I'm not exactly sure if it's at the same distance, but yes, when doing a guns run, I just usually find the 3D object on the landscape although by the time I am thinking about firing (less than 1nm), it is usually the "proper" 3D model and no longer a box. This makes me curious though... does it appear as a "proper" model before 1nm for you guys? At the very least, I'd like the "boxes" to appear sooner, as to when the boxes transform into actual tanks/vehicles, I'm not too picky as they're probably gonna be dead real soon anyway :music_whistling:

  22. I know that you can select Take Off From Ramp and select the aircraft's parking spot, but when you do this, you end up with a cold aircraft. Is there a way to end up with a fully-up-and-running aircraft and still be in the designated parking spot (ie, spot #1 in Vaziani)?
  23. Just get the normal landing technique now. Once you start doing missions, you WILL be coming home with dents and holes... if you make it home in the first place :)
  24. Seriously guys, are you telling him to "go fiddle with this but we don't think it'll work but why don't you do this experiment for us?" Has someone found out a way to do this? Yes / No Might it be possible to do this? Yes / No I'm curious as well why nobody's tackled this before. I usually specks come into 3D at 2nm but can visual ID until less than 1nm... and this is with zoom enabled already.
  25. No worries and enjoy. Once you know how to land the A10 when it's fully functional, then comes the fun part --- landing a damaged A10. One engine landing, belly landing, landing with jus the left and right gear, landing with your tires shot up...
