  1. Hey guys! I've just read about and tried boredtechies advice on custom snap views. I want to create my own views, ie, fuel gauge view, better HUD zoom view, etc. however, GregP's advice on saving new views doesn't seem to work for me. Is there another way to figure out and save custom views without having to do guesswork on the SnapViews.lua file? Also, I am playing with TrackIR 5 on a 1920x1080 resolution and each time the game starts, it zooms out slightly. However, pressing KP5 resets the view to something closer. Is there a way to edit this so that KP5 will reset to a "wider" view? Finally, is there a way to have custom snap views WITHOUT having to do the RCTRL + KP0 all the time? I'm thinking about doing guns runs... at the moment, I have my default (non-snap) view via KP5, but when I do a guns run, I zoom in via the Warthog throttle slider, then zoom out after the run. I was hoping to be able to press a button, like maybe KP8 and will automatically zoom me in then KP5 to zoom back to default view, is there a way to do this? Cheers!
  2. Thanks guys. So there is no actual "call" for repairs, just ground power on, turn off engines and sit there? Weird.
  3. Hey guys. I was wondering how to repair the A-10? I managed to get one back to base but the mission was not yet finished. I can find the Rearm and Refuel command, but no Repair. Any help appreciated.
  4. Just found this one, thanks! Rep inbound!
  5. I'm guessing you're talking about this product, pitbldr? Because if you're talking about this master card, it requires a PC parallel port rather than a USB.
  6. I like to use my TGP for target ID before firing off a Maverick, the reason being these missiles are quite deadly and accurate and give me a good stand off range --- no reason to waste it on a truck. So anyway, my way of doing this is to search for targets via TGP, when I have a valid target, I TMS Up Short to lock/track, TMS Up Long to make SPI, switch over to Maverick (coolie hat right short or press the Mav OSB on my TM MFD), China Hat Forward Long to slave the Mav head to my SPI, TMS Up Short to try to get the Maverick to lock, then Rifle once locked. While this is fine for one or two targets, I find that engaging 3 or more targets would need multiple passes. For instance, after the first Maverick launch, I need to get back to TGP to find another target, then the whole process starts over again. I can be quick with this, and can maybe launch 2-4 missiles, but this all depends on how far I am from the targets... 8nm out and I can maybe do 4, but from 4nm, I barely have enough time for 2. Is there a quicker way to launch Mavericks than this? Again, I do not want to track and lock targets via the Mav page if I can help it, not unless I know all the targets in view are high-priority targets. Thanks!
  7. pitbldr, are you saying Leo's boards can't handle a CDU/UFC setup? Can you link me to that opencockpit stuff you're talking about?
  8. I got a better idea - quit work and divorce the wife. I want my UFC and CDU by Friday. :music_whistling: Just kidding. Take your time. BTW, how are we doing with regards to actually powering and connecting these panels to the PC?
  9. Okay, someone told me that you don't toggle the strobe lights (anti-collision) unless you were in trouble? Any truth?
  10. Excellent find bmbpdk! Thanks! And great thread, I was wondering who was wearing bras in a combat theatre.
  11. That's good, but not really how they would do it IRL I would guess. Killing a AAA or a SAM at the expense of your wingman isn't a good deal. When you see air defense go up, take a look at the area and engage defensive, get out, then come back and scan the area for threats. Or just tell the AI wingman to engage air defense --- he usually knows where everything is
  12. It's a pity proper landing procedures aren't implemented. So I just do an overhead break and short final and always being on the lookout for anyone else landing.
  13. Force, that's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for describing it properly. BiPod and Rusty, thanks for the links, I'll be trying them out.
  14. I'm looking for more of an in-flight stress test, or one specifically designed for this purpose. Having said that, the Devil's Cross campaign looks good, if nothing but the overcast/rain.
  15. The best way to spot them is when they fire at you. Seriously. That is why when real A-10s attack one is a shooter and one is on the lookout for AAA/SAMs --- a call for break is immediately executed. Also one of the reasons why attack aircraft fire off chaff and flares when they attack --- you never know who's down there with what and a MANPAD can ruin your day just as good as a Shilka can. Also, a SAM radar on your RWR does not mean one is an immediate threat to you. Remember, SAM sites have huge range, so unless one is parked directly over your path to the target or right at your target, I wouldn't waste time looking for him. If one does fire on me, then he's a priority. As for tracer fire, these have really limited ranges. Again, unless he's directly over my target, I try to avoid him if possible. If not, he gets a Mav up his behind. Or an LGB. Basic idea is make the ingress/egress route safe. If there are air defense sites in the immediate area, they get priority. Then the target. If there are none, does not mean they are not there. Always keep a lookout, and when your RWR is tracking a missile, engage defensive immediately. Hope that helps.
  16. I was wondering if anyone has crafted a mission designed to stress test a user's PC using DCS A10. By "stress test," I mean what visual options are possible given a certain hardware spec. For instance, in Falcon, we used to have a mission with lots of air activity and ground activity. The player would then configure his graphics settings, take a flight up, then run FRAPS (or whatever) as he flies over the FLOT. The FRAPS analysis then showed whether he could raise his graphics settings even more, or if he should lower some stuff. That way, you didn't fly with gorgeous visuals only to suffer a slide show when things got hot. Does anyone know of anything like this for DCS A10?
  17. Sabre, I've not heard from you or any of the Dev team. Hit me up on email as soon as you can. Thanks!
  18. Yeah, when those SAM batteries run out, it's safe... but until then... :D Thanks for the help guys, I guess I'll go practice some more. Still, from what I gather, there is absolutely no way to engage tanks "safely"... the best you can do is take them out and disengage quickly and efficiently for no- or minimum-damage.
  19. I am holding you to that! :D
  20. Thanks for the help, got it. It's just that there are so many discussions I did not know which was which.
  21. I've actually landed with the ILS once in the training mission on Beta 4. As to how that happened I'm not exactly sure. Even the default landing instructions (inbound directions) are confusing to me. It's like you tell the ATC you're coming in, he gives you a vector, then forgets about you until you hit some magic space in the sky.
  22. Erm, I didn't mean AAA as in dedicated AAA --- they would get a Mav up their behind before I go near. I mean the tank guns going for you. Sorry for the confusion. So there is no way to engage the tanks that is guaranteed they do not shoot at you?
  23. Wags' video is all fine and good. Now try it against an active tank and you'll see that by the time you engage him, he'll most likely be sending a couple of rounds your way as well. I'm looking for a more stand-off-ish way of employing the gun. The 10K attack with steep dive is nice and I've tried dives from 5-7K alt, but by the time you pull out, you're begging for some AAA fire as well.
  24. Hiya pitbldr! Any news on when you can offer these up to the public? I'm itching for my CDU now that I know how to use it!
  25. Behind, yes, but what angle? Come in from high and do about a 30 degree-dive? Or low and about 10-15-degrees? Also, "short bursts" isn't enough to kill a tank, IME it takes about 1-1.5 second PAC-stabilized burst to kill it. However, my concern is how to kill a tank without getting your butt whooped in the process.
