RPGs, small arms?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIlX9Uvh7og http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4WF2oECycE (what I call "belly shot") (Make yourshelf a favor...turn sound off:mad: ) From http://www.army-technology.com/projects/apache/ :book: COUNTERMEASURES The Apache is equipped with an electronic warfare suite consisting of: AN/APR-39A(V) radar warning receiver from Northrop Grumman (formerly Litton) and Lockheed Martin; Lockheed Martin AN/APR-48A Radar Frequency Interferometer Electronic Support target acquisition system; AN/ALQ-144 infra-red countermeasures set from BAE Systems IEWS (formerly Sanders, a Lockheed Martin company); AN/AVR-2 laser warning receiver from Goodrich (formerly Hughes Danbury Optical Systems then Raytheon); AN/ALQ-136(V) radar jammer developed by ITT; and chaff dispensers. US Army Longbow Apaches were to be fitted with the ITT AN/ALQ-211 SIRCM (Suite of Integrated Radio Frequency Countermeasures) suite, however the availability of funding for this project is uncertain. UK AH Mk 1 Apaches are fitted with BAE Systems Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids Suite (HIDAS), also chosen by Kuwait and Greece. HIDAS, which includes the Sky Guardian 2000 radar warning receiver, entered service on the AH Mk 1 in July 2003. Israeli AH-64D helicopters are fitted with the Elisra Seraph self-protection system, including SPS-65 missile warner and SPJ-40 radar jammer. From the above text only chaff dispensers...no word about flares dispensers. Maybe some new Apache versions are fitted with them. Indeed anybody who have flied Longbow2 will remember that neither Apache nor Kiowa was fitted with flares dispensers in the game, and I do think that nobody better than Janeґs to know that :book:

May this question sounds stupid but, why most US combat choppers donґt use flares as an additional IR countermeasure?. AFAIK i.e. Apache only use the AN/ALQ-144 IR Jammer as main (and only) IR countermeasure. Even more, I think its original (and actual) location, above fuselage between the engines would be adecuate and very effective against its design intended main menaces: Aircrafts and far IR manpad/SAM batteries. But I do not think that location be any effective against new (urban) menaces as are short range belly launched iglas (all we know what/where Iґm talking about:( )...basically cause SAM seeker can even be completely out of IR jammer line of sight during all of part of its trayectory, fact which I think highly reduces its efficience. I think a redundat belly jammer and the use of the old flares system could have saved many lives :( BTW, for what Iґve heard last Igla versions are very AN/ALQ-144 resistant. My 2cents,

Any chance of getting that new terrain in a post-BS release addition?:( -
60 € aprox. (it worths every 1/1000 cent.) The best PC based helicopter simulation until BS release...and surprisingly enough it´s a FS2004 addon!, tough I´d better say FS2004 is only its graphical engine. Ladies and gentlemen: "Bell Jet Ranger II" Developer link: http://www.dodosim.com/ Support forum: http://64.34.169.161/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?;act=SF;f=46 P.D: Forget FSX helos until Dodo release the "Huey" and "JRanger" porn versions :D

Sorry, Iґve been outside LO/BS world for a while:P

Don´t know if this is old info, but just in case...:smilewink: http://pff.blogsome.com/2007/01/28/sistemas-do-black-shark/

It seems we´re going to have Frogfoot for a while...time more than enough for ED to model this modernized "SM" version:D http://en.rian.ru/russia/20061228/58022799.html Cheers, A.

What do you think, guys?. Will we see a dream coming true with this?. I must say it really looks (and sounds) promising: *The flight model will use a series of Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers to simulate the FBW characteristics of the Hornet. We have two former F/A-18 pilots (one of whom was an instructor at Fallon, NV) testing. Weapons loadouts will add weight and drag proportional to their respective interference indexes. As a weapon is fired or jettisoned, the weight and drag are removed. Asymmetric loading will result in a shift of lateral moment precisely corresponding to the weight imbalance. The hydraulic and electrical systems are completely custom (bypassing FSs system) and function as they do in the real A/C. The fuel system is also similarly complex.* Links: http://www.alphasim3.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=488a8b61357493df45df44c669a4e071&topic=20.0 http://www.alphasim3.com/forums/index.php?topic=20.75

Can´t wait. Thanks for your reply.

Is it going to be released soon?...only the video, not BS:D

All links (except lockonskins) seem to be broken...

Please, could anybody give me any information about this video sound track? song tittle, music group, etc...I´m trying to get it. Thanks,

Ok. I´ve just tried the new demo and the r22 Robinson chopper and..I´m quite satisfied! Altough new chopper FM is not yet perfect (no sim is...ok, with the exception of BS;) ), the overall feeling is enough good for me. The only FS9 residual vice I´ve found is that chopper keeps oposing to going backwards...but this time only when forced to doing that at moderated/high speeds, something that could be well into the "realistic" limits. Hovering now has become a fact (alelluya!!!) and response to stick/throttle imputs is smooth in the whole envelope (the one I´ve tried) with no odd (ugly) transitions after severe actitude/velocity changes...Unlike FS9, FSX choppers seems to be "infinite loops departure" resistant:P I hate to say this but...I´ll give my €s to micro€oft:cry:
-
Ok, but that means FM has the same buggish structure...
-
How can previous FlightSimulator (raw) versions FMs work on newer FSX??? For me (may I be wrong) it should mean FSX FMs are nearly the same that in previous versions...with the same holes in their flight envelopes...UFO behaviour...:(
-
Flying hours in the real thing?
-
I was very dissapointed with FS9 choppers FM and need to have some clue before starting a 636mb download...;)
-
Ok, thanks:thumbup: What about helos FM? is better than in FS9?
-
A new demo...with chopper included?... ...really? (please confirm)

Ricochet demo included... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK5w_-1okXM&mode=related&search=

Night shots (=blind shots) effectiveness is my main complain. No aimed shot should be made at night without the help of NVG or radar...just this...at least not with the actual high level of effectiveness compared with day shots (1-1).
-
I think nightlight shots PK (also day ones) is highly affected by the level of technology within reach of manpad users (nvg, radar,and...phone cells...yes). I think all of this could be easily used by a top qualified army...but I was talking about the fierce looking guys ED show us in their last update...:smilewink: . Flamming Cliffs campaign mission#10 (don´t remember exactly) is a good example of it: 1 su25t flying low at night to bring down a house plenty of bad boys. Once you (silent) reach them, pop up and start locking the target...fooom....fooooom two iglas at your 12. They shoot their manpad faster than you can say "ouch!" ...no matter where direction you were closing in. I do think it´s quite unrealistic, and ED should choose between scale their skill in wide steps (according with technology resources) such as in level 1 nightlight shots should be always neglected...or impose a HUGE loss of PK in low visibility shots. My 2 cents,
-
Hi, Is going to be in BS a review of this guys AI?. I think they´re unrealistic lethal at night or under poor weather/illumination encounters. They react in the same time and with the same marksmanship as in daylight...seem to have attached a man-portable-radar. I think it should be really really harder to have a nightlight lock on a jet (or a 2-3 thousand meters away tree semi-hidden chopper;) ) when you cannot see it and hardly see the guy is few meters away from you. It´d be as difficult as having a lock at the same jet (or chopper) in daylight....but with a bandage in your eyes!. Only target´s own flares or a near radar unit could update its position.
