Does it have a big fps impact?

You suggested it: "The Eagle and it's clever shiny variable geometry intakes essentially mean that the faster you fly, the more thrust you get . . . . at higher speeds it's as much ramjet as it is turbojet. If you're trying to cruise below Mach 0.85 or thereabouts, you may be suffering unduly as a result." ;) And, yes, increased mass-flow means "extra-thrust" Me too.

I think oblique shock waves effect on the diffusor wouldn´t be noticed until mach well above 1,0...say 1,5+? so cruise at any mach below it has little or no benefit in thrust terms.
-
Yes, I do know...;)
-
Ok, but I think Strike Eagle has a far greater drag profile. All in all, thanks, this info is enough for me.:icon_jook Cheers,

Ok, guys, may I be wrong and real Eagle is as modelized in LO, but I find hard to believe that two of the most powerfull engines available can´t stand an AA store config+fuel in any other throttle position than max-dry or above..:(

Hi, When I´ve started flying the "eagle" (previously only used Su-25/T) first I thought: what a beast! Plenty of power excess, Mach 2.4+, 8 AA weapons...radar...well, a whole different world compared with the "frogs". I really enjoy flying it. But, aside of all things mentioned in this forum regarding to eagle avionics simplification and lack of AFM...blablabla...I´d like to mention/question one thing about its FM I´ve found and think has been said before in this forum: - The eagle seems to match quite accurately (at least for me) its real Flight Envelope, well, but taken into account that FE´s right-hand limits are given (in LO) by engine thrust limitations (max. reheat) we could consider that the modelized thrust(max. reheat)-drag relation is well done throught the whole envelope. But, once the engines are set in any other position below "max. dry" problems appear. I´ve found the LO´s F-15 unable to maintain horizontal straight flight level at 35k ft. at nearly below "Max. dry" thrust in a 3 fuel drops(half cap.)+6 AMRAAM+2 Sidewinders stores config. I hardly believe the real eagle C behaving this way when E version, aside of fuel tanks, is able to carry a REAL heavy AG store config (+some AA). In spite of trying a lighter config in terms of weight and drag, I´d say IMHO (always) either the actual LO F-15 thrust curve is not accurate under reheat or drag (stores drag?) overmodelled...perhaps both. Please, ED, take a look in your next patch. I don´t think fixing it implies a AFM for the eagle (may I be wrong...?) Thanks,

This was posted at Simhq: -An Interview with A-10 Pilot Major Dan "Beef" Manning " 20mm: Talking about simulators, do you have any experience with computer or console sims, and if so, which ones and what's your opinion of them? Beef: With computer simulations, I was aware when LOMAC was released, but didn't buy it. Some time afterwards, I happened to see it on sale in a Best Buy. When I saw the container cover art, I had to buy it. I mean, the aircraft on the cover was the plane that had my name on it, how could I resist? What I found was that the graphics were very good, but it was far too difficult to fly. In most sims, they want to make the game have as many options as the actual airplane though a myriad of keyboard shortcuts. When you are in the real deal, things are much simpler, more intuitive. I like the PS2 game, Ace Combat, because to me the flying maneuvering is more realistic... although a 450 KIAS A-10 certainly isn't." me...:icon_toil .... Full interview link: http://www.simhq.com/_air6/air_212a.html Quote is from page 3. What do you think, guys?...A real Hog driver saying that a console arcade is having a better/ more accurate FM than LO...("flying maneuvering is more realistic") Don´t miss either this pearl: "In most sims, they want to make the game have as many options as the actual airplane though a myriad of keyboard shortcuts. When you are in the real deal, things are much simpler, more intuitive" So, WHY do we want an even more complex and accurate LOMAC when a pilot tell us that flying a fighter is just as easy as playing PS2 ?!

Well, if it seems to be working right for you guys, may it be a problem with my joystick :icon_frow
-
Yes, it does autotrim after manoeuvered...but when increasing/ decreasing speed (horizontal leveled-1g) you (i do) can see a pitch up/down response...not compensed by PTC.
-
- Does real F15s have auto-throttle function? - Is just my joystick or the LO´s F-15 have to be trimmed?. May I be wrong but I think the real one not need to be trimmed, the PTC (Pitch Trim Compesator) do the task: "constant stick position for a given g"

Has anybody noticed a fps drop after installing the new drivers?. I found a 3-4 fps average drop with them.:(

Thank you very much for your help!:D

After having uninstalled some Su-25 textures (updating LOMAN2.1 to MODMAN) I´ve found that SU-25 numeral textures are corrupted. Numbers are not displayed and instead of them there´re horizontal wide strips in raw colors...:( I think somebody asked for help with a similar problem not much ago. Where can i find these textures and where to install them?. Help me, please. Thanks,

Does that higher sampling affect to FPS?
-
Yes, GGTharos, I know :)

All seems to be very calm here...no 1.12 patch development update/news, no Black Shark news/screenshots section update/videos (BTW:BS flying videos...WHEN?!!!)....:horseback Is it because developers´ hollidays?:icon_jook Seriously, I think we are all anxiously waiting for a new unveiled secret from ED´s factory ;) Regards, Á

OT BIG NEWS Microsoft x hits shelfs end off year
JACN replied to diveplane's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I´d add something that seems nobody has mentioned: Flight Simulator´s FM is the very worst of it...so, considering that the main goal of a S-I-M is that, "to simulate" something, the whole FS serie is just a world trick! It´d better have been named: "Navigation Simulator"....or better "Earth seen from skies Simulator" (a little long name I know:D ) Seriously, I dissagree with Pilotasso. I think both genres, military and civilian, are complementary. I have FS2004 and loved to take of from near airfields and fly over my city (specially liked the real-time weather feature)but the serious FM´s holes found in it (hellicopters are UFOS, post-stall envelope is missing, aircrafts addon in no way matches the real thing due to serious FM/Engine Model simplifications,...........) put end to our love:icon_syda :( A. -

I only use 1024 res 2XAA/4xAF for better performance. I know 7800 series start to make a REAL difference for 1200 res and above, but my question is this: WHY is Lockon the only (or one of the very very few) sim/game that do not see ANY fps improvement when using a last-generation-512mbRAM-double-overclocked(second by myshelf) video card??...could it be the same problem because Lockon does not support SLI config?... Don´t take me wrong, I can understand that AFM, avionics, AI, etc, are CPU matter...but I cannot (and never will) understand, for example, SEA (...textures management...) generating the same CPU bottlenecks having one of the most powerfull graphic card available nowadays or a one year older one ...or why not?, a SLI config with the first option :icon_toil I think ED people should (must) make an important effort to optimise the LO graphic engine. Keeping things this UGLY way I preffer not think about Black-SharK, specially when developers have warned us all about a logical fps performance degradation due to textures, low alt flights, and......... First time I tried Pacific Fighters in Perfect mode (water=3) I really thought I´d never could enjoy it with a 6800 Ultra. Now, with last .dlls it´s more than playable (Perfect mode) even with a 6600!!!. I hope ED team if not in LO 1.12 or 1.2 yes in a 1.2x patch, surprised us all with a graphic engine review that allows this ENORMOUS piece of art named Lockon to efficiently make use of our machines to their limits. Of course, all of this is just a personal thought...:icon_jook

Today I recieved my new XFX 7800GTX 512 extreme XXX but I was very very disappointed when found NO fps gain in LO comparing with my previous 6800 Ultra...I resist to believe that there is NO, literally, (even a slightly 1 or 2 lose) fps difference in LO performance when using a newer (over-overclocked) 512 mb video card!! ALL the other games/sims, IL2 (water=4) does see a huge difference: higher fps and sttuter problems vanished... Yes, I'm aware of LO CPU botteneck...but my CPU is a FX-55 (@2.8+)Is there anything wrong with my hardware/software config?
-
Will LO1.2 Black-Shark see any fps increase with the use of 512 video cards like XFX extremeXXX, Black Pearl or BFGs one?. It would be nice...(I've just bought one):)
-
Just a question...: Are ED people aware of "this"?. I think it would be GREAT if ED, officially, takes care of these new findings in order to improve the overall fps performance. Specially thinking of the next (more CPU/GPU demanding) Black Shark.
