Lock On is slowly but surely vanishing from the radar
SwingKid replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Who is "CIS?" -SK -
Hello - What happens when multiple players try to start a mission, taking off from the same runway at the same time? Do the players only appear in their aircraft cockpits one at a time, after each has cleared the runway? And until that time, they can join the game only as spectators? How does it work? Thanks, -SK

Lock On is slowly but surely vanishing from the radar

Okay come on, there's no need to be like that - how many other sim makers besides Falcon 4 team (that got themselves fired for their efforts) managed to make a DC? Is it very important to you that the DC comes directly from ED? What do you think of SkyWars2? http://www.lockoncampaign.com -SK "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to MrWolf-Loskins again." -
This sounds like a very interesting project, but - why the secrecy? If I were in those shoes (and I am :) ) - developing a multiplayer DC, mostly on my own - I'd be happy to talk about it with someone else doing something similar. I made a few mistakes along the way, that some good advice from a colleague might have helped me to avoid. -SK

Yeah, I understand too. It's tough - everybody wants to communicate with the developer, but the more time spent communicating, the less time spent developing. Maybe if he was demanding an F-15E or saveable debriefings, instead of "eye candy" like SpeedTrees, then I'd understand even more. ;) -SK

Frustration usually expresses itself in one thread per topic, no? ;) -SK

Are you bored? :) You can always pop over to http://www.lockoncampaign.com and post some feedback about SkyWars2, to pass the time... -SK

Question about the future of the Mig-29?
SwingKid replied to JaNk0's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have to admit, your F-16 and MiG-29 screenshots were pretty convincing. Maybe you could post a screenshot of Lock On's F-15E? :) -SK -

It would be easier to agree if you said that when the Chaparral model was rolled out, instead of lumping the F-15E lobby in with the others. -SK -
Да.. А моделу не надо ещё один димовый гранат? -SK

Do you remember the "torpedo boat" from Flanker 2.0? One of my favourite units.. :) Of course, now we're getting the truck-mounted ZU gun, that's arguably the same thing on wheels. -SK -

You think the Su-27 is bad, look at the F-15E! :icon_eek: -SK -

What is your 3 favorite aircraft.... and why :)
SwingKid replied to Mizzy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Cessna 150 - the most economical, safe, easy-to-fly - great for recon and training MiG-17 - the pinnacle of gun combat. Every missile that shoots this down is a net cost to the country that made the missile. Easy to maintain, reliable, good range and endurance, good for air-to-air and air-to-ground work. C-130 Hercules - as above, but for those occassions when a bus is more efficient than a car. Hauling your army forward to capture assets, keeping the logistical supply lines open, or even dropping Daisy Cutters as a bomber. Fantastically versatile. Give me an Air Force of these three with as many as the USAF budget can buy, and we'll conquer an equally-funded USAF equipped with F-22s in no time. ;) -SK -
-SK

That's funny, I read both forums too, and prefer the English one.. Maybe because ED developers only disagree with me. ;) Do you guys even know what "spam" is? -SK

Knowledge Challenge...Horizontal Stabilizer
SwingKid replied to Hawg11's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Is that true? I thought it really was hinged: "this was first discovered in the Bell X-1; fortunately, although the tailplane was conventional in design, Bell Aircraft Corporation had included an elevator trim device that could alter the angle of attack of the entire tailplane; this saved the program from a costly and time-consuming rebuild of the aircraft" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tailplane I admit, I don't know which story is correct. -SK -

Supersonic? -SK -
Is this a question, or a statement? AFAIK, you can't have more than one client aircraft in a flight. How would you change the mission targets/goals in mid-mission, and then transmit those instructions to the players in a briefing, without requiring them all to exit the mission and read the briefing screen? I don't think it can be done like this, at least not now. -SK

You're right! This topic is boring already. ;) -SK

Why does the English forum have fewer posts, but more topics? -SK

This one also scares me. Russian at the controls? Note that Jaguar is a high-wing aircraft - the ground effect needs to be measured from the wing to the ground. -SK
-
No, but I'm not so worried about aircraft that are designed to fly that low for normal combat operations. I've heard that the Jaguar for example has a great radio altimeter to help stay in control at low alt. When I was in the MiG-29, the radio altimeter had an accuracy of 10 meters, and IIRC while we were sitting still on the runway waiting for takeoff, it said, "100 meters." (Either that or it was just dark - I might be confusing it with the airspeed display, which was similarly approximate. Neither display ever showed any quantity less than "100") -SK
