  1. Looks great! Nice work! Eager to see the finished product...
  2. Perfect! Very creative solution.

  4. Brevity codes available here. :music_whistling:
  5. Discovered this one while on an anti-ship mission online. Sorry, but haven't a clue what it was called or who hosted it.
  6. A better place Ooops, head up and locked. This is where it belongs. Thanks for moving it, whoever you are.
  7. Out-freaking-standing! A hugely valuable resource.
  8. There's an article on the Scientific American magazine's website covering depleted uranium ammo. Unfortunately, it's very poorly written and creates more of the issue, in my opinion, than it apparently is trying to overcome. The DU in an A-10 round has 60% of the fissile isotopes of natural unranium, for crying out loud. That's what depleted means! One commenter complains about how microscopic particles are created when a round hits, oh I dunno know, say, a tank, and that they can be bad for your health. Well I cerrtainly hope so. That's the idea, isn't it? Worried about left overs? Get over it. Biological half life of the next-to-no-radiation is 15 days. In any event, if you have the opportunity to pick up DU rounds you'll be amazed at how heavy the suckers are compared to a normal round. Anyway, they're always better to see going away from you than coming toward you!
  9. I had the same problem with Thrustmaster HOTAS and solved it by deleting the entire Throttle column in Options|Setup|Controls and then using Load to pick default set. Seems hard to imagine that keyboard could have same issue, but might be worth deleting keyboard bindings and reloading them.
  10. Just a note that perhaps is more in response to other posts but applies here as well: there are few cases where a special sequence is required by the sim to do something, say, start the engines—or to do anything else for that matter. If you have the proper equipment on (e.g. battery, inverter, fuel pumps and APU) the engines will start. (Yes, I understand that the issue here is the zero point with the Cougar throttles, and yes this is therefore a little off topic but still relevant, I hope). I make this point because some "toy" sims require that you touch certain buttons in a certain order for the thing to work. Thus, some people seems to think, I gather, that if you don't turn on the O2 and then check the indicator as part of the pre-start checklist the engines won't start, which is not the case. DCS A-10C is about as real as you can get and the systems do what they do IRL so if you supply air, fuel and a spark you will get fire (suck, push, bang, blow). I'm making an issue of this only out of admiration for the incredible fidelity of this sim, and to alert new folks that you don't need to treat it as a Myst puzzle. It is deterministic, and works as it should. That said, there are a few procedures that, thanks to physics and technology, do require that events take place in certain order such as an air start. But I hope it's clear that's a different issue.
  11. Update After a few weeks of flying I found this setup works great. But I would change one thing: the stick is too high, so I can't rest my forearm on my thigh or knee. It happens I fly from my office chair which has arms, so the problem isn't a big one. But one of these days I'm going to cut the tube down an inch or so.
  12. Actually its saved in several places now. Thanks to all for help solving yet another example of technology's inhumanity to man.
  13. FIXED! EtherealN nailed it. Switched to IE instead of Chrome and there it was!
  14. Yes, I was/am logged in, see attached. But when I click on the 'Payment' button, as I described, it takes me to that page where, indeed, it does look like I'm not logged in. But I am.
  15. Did just as you (both) said, but no joy.... It occurred to me that I may have logged in with a different name than the one I used to buy it, but I tried the only others I ever use, TailspinT and TailspinTommy (used to be a barnstormer), but DCS didn't recognize either of those. Is there a way I can contact someone, probably with a PM, and give them my address or last 4 digits of credit card and have them look it up for me? After all the frustration of having to break into my own computer, reload the system and a few apps, I need to go flying and KILL something!
  16. :helpsmilie: Downloaded Flamin' Squirrel's very cool new mission planner app, but contracted a nasty virus from the site (not the app, to be clear). Eset NOD32 caught it, but still had to reinstall Win7 and Warthog (and everything else), and now Warthog wants my serial number. But when I go to the DCS site, log in, and click on 'payments' the site takes me to a page where I can buy Warthog or LockOn, NOT the screen that has my purchase info and my serial number. Now what?
  17. Nasty virus from megaupload Delighted to find your mission planner, but when I downloaded it megaupload.com also gave m some kind of malware. I'm not suggesting that it was in the mission planner of that the author was in any way responsible, but I do want to caution anyone who downloads it. First indication was a Windows alert that it couldn't verify the certificate for something. Like a dummy I said to my self, "Yeah, yeah, whatever," and click OK. I ran the planner and had no problem. Very nice tool. But suddenly I got a red alert of Eset Antivirus software and the system instantly restarted. On restart a message appeared "loading system files" which I've never seen before, and the system booted to the default blue heaven screen, and the Startup Repair started to run. It has run to completion twice, but ends at an HP "Your in deep shit, pal" screen. Looks I'm going to have to reload Win 7 at a minimum
  18. OMG! That's incredible!
  19. Found it as a jpeg online, printed it, and stuck it on with doubled sided tape. http://www.highergraphics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=82
  20. Several FSX add-on aircraft have sounds of pilot breathing. My initial reaction was, "Wow, cool," and 5 minutes later I was trying to find some way to turn the annoying sounds off. It's been awhile, but I don't recall any such sounds in the aircraft I flew. Indeed, we usually flew in the EA-6B with hot mics for intercom at all 4 positions and never heard anyone (except when they threw up).
  21. Appears that the download for 1.1.0.8 has the wrong GUI manual in it. By coincidence there seems to be an OpenGL manual with the same name that was added to the bundle instead of the Mission Editor manual. In any event, the Mission Editor manual really ought to be called Mission Editor Manual, and a separate document, don't you think?
  22. The best sim available, period.
  23. Outstanding! A valuable contribution to the community. If you run out of new procedures to add, perhaps include as a supplement a simple challenge-response kneeboard (5 x 7) checklist including emergency procedures? PRESTART BATTERY PWR INVERTER STBY WARNING LIGHTS CHECK OXYGEN ON OXYGEN QTY CHECK RADIOS ON BOOST PUMPS ON APU START APU GEN PWR . . .
  24. Exactly. Pitch controls airspeed, throttles control altitude.
