  1. whoops... my bad.. the canards were twisted in the first picture and I didn't see them. They are harder to spot than on the tyhpoon, too.
  2. One interesting thing I stumbled across: Rafale = No Canards Eurofighter = Canards but Su-33 = Canards Su-27 = No Canards So why's that? I thought canards would help in low-speed, high-alpha maneuvers, e.g. carrier landings and takeoffs.
  3. I would be suspicous if your A10-wingman showed up on RWR :D (well, I won't win a price for good quoting on that one :music_whistling:)
  4. Russians would possibly raise their head and look out of the cockpit window to estimate altitude :D (hoping visual conditions are appropiate)
  5. Sierra Hotel! What a beautiful monster! How are the odds that he's married? :D
  6. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=21066&highlight=static+objects+pack Mod/Addon by MBot
  7. I have the static object pack installed without having trouble with ground target visibility
  8. I just read the following articles on Wikipedia and recommend them: Some general stuff (history, ammunition types) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artillery MLRS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M270_Multiple_Launch_Rocket_System Some of the content resembles me to the way, field combat was described in Tom Clancy's "Red Storm Rising". Especially things like counter-battery fire. But that's overkill for any flight sim, I guess ;)
  9. Borg-Hawg lol
  10. I think it translates something like airborne mechanized unit (probably infantry) Like using a helo instead of an APC. In my opinion, the Rooivalk resembles to me more like a Hind... Can it also carry armed troops? Couldn't find something like that in the documentation...
  11. at least it's good at NOE ops :D
  12. That happens when you send kids to war. Can't expect maturity there.
  13. Indeed an interessting development. MBot: Isn't the NATO following a different approach by using their older airframes for SEAD (e.g. F-4, F-111 or Tornado). They seem to depend rather on modern weapons than on capable platforms... But I guess Russians have decades of exellence in cost-effictiveness :D. They should know what does the job with minimum effort.
  14. Well thanks for these background facts... nice to know what you could do IRL... that's why we like simming, isn't it? ;) I was talking about the vanilla frogfoot. Could not find a auxiliary compass yet. Is it hidden somewhere?
  15. I can do all these procedures in less than 30 seconds ;) I usally take a very close look at the HSI before I run up engines. I often don't see any movement but still experience those misalignment problems afterwards. I might need more patience, though... :music_whistling:
  16. Hi there, yesterday a squad mate and me encountered again the problem with the Frogfoot's HSI: Sometimes (but not always) the HSI would not align and show wrong headings after starting up the engines. I could not find any information in the sims documentation nor in the forums. Is there a certain start up procedure one has to obey to prevent the misalignment? Or is it bug? I usally activate electrical power, wait for 15-30 seconds and then initiate engine 1 and 2 in sequence. I would appreciate any comments from Su-25 drivers :) Thanks in advance.
  17. those objects look great so far.. they should help to build up even more immersion on the battle field you might want to establish some kind of development libary.. maybe some one is familiar with software engineering in the open source enviroment? there should be solutions to help working together on the internet... :)
  18. great work, zaelu! on you last preview, there would be no need to put a zero in front of the row-numbers, e.g. instead of A05 -> A5 would be sufficient looking forward for a letter format version, too!
  19. Hello there, I have great respect for any person with soldering skills (for I usually burn one or two of my fingers when trying myself ;)). But why would you change those gameport pedals to USB anyway? I own them and they run perfectly on my WinXP System...
  20. you could try to trim your plane to a certain pitch angle and control your descend with the throttles
  21. 2nd video... look for Cy-25 (which means Su-25 in latin letters)
  22. in the age of (legally) downloadable software: which box? ;)
  23. Well that's great news. I will give it a try at the weekend. Thanks to all of you guys!
  24. Awesome work guys! For people who can't afford a shiny TouchScreen-LCD yet: Is it possible to run the software on an ordinary Laptop via network an get the same functions by using the laptop's mouse cursor instead of a touch screen? I would appreciate the ability to arrange all important commands on big customizable icons and spread them on tabs which makes them accessible with the left hand on my notebook's touchpad.
