Still not solved this issue, and reluctant to do a full reinstall. Any more suggestions welcome.

Just switching the off from the pit. Again its just for reference. Your mileage may differ.

Thanks, VFGIP JP. I can get 17.6-18.4ms frame times, sitting on the ground on Syria map at Incirlik, mirrors off, with the above settings, but that's not relevant to anyone except me. A point I was trying to express, is that with those settings, game works best for 'ME', and could be used as a starting point for others trying to setup their VR. The other point which may have been lost, and which was a big surprise, for me, is that Motion Vector makes a huge difference to my experience (smoothness), which is not reflected in the 'measured performance (frame time/frame rate), due I'm guessing to the nature of the underlying process of estimating dropped frames. For me, ON gives me a much smoother performance than off. There maybe trade offs i'm not aware, but have found none so far. For anyone who has not tried this setting, i would recommend they do so.

Thanks for this. And I have done some testing and GPU frame times are the same for 0.5/400 and 1.0/100 PD/CR settings. I have changed the post to reflect this.

EDITED (additions in red) Hi all, I've been using the reverb since i bought it back in 2019, and am constantly trying to refine the performance, as new versions of WMR, SteamVR and DCS come out. I've seen various comments about pixel density and Resolution multiplier, and how they do the 'same' thing. I'm not sure i agree with this based on my experience (and perhaps there is a setting I am missing). I get the best results with the PD and CR as indicated with the PD lowest, and the CR highest or high, but only when Motion Vector is enabled in SteamVR. Below are my settings and specs. Pixel density in DCS world to 0.5 Custom resolution multiplier in Steam VR to 400% (5408X5228) Motion Smoothing enabled in Steam VR, Override World scale set to OFF, in Steam VR. Motion Vector (I believe this is called motion reprojection) is 'enabled' in steam VR. (Can only be set inside VR in Steam VR) A few points are worthy of note 2,3,4 above should be set using the steam VR 'per application' setting when DCS is running in VR. FPS will appear to be maxed at 45, but switching off Motion Vector, displays higher FPS but significantly more stuttering. 500% resolution multiplier gives the best 'clarity' to the image (with PD 0.5), displaying what the headset is capable of. If FPS (probably not actually the best measure of performance) is gets too low, then try reducing the resolution multiplier quality settings in DCS. I suspect the original Reverb and the G2 and G2 V2 can be considered the same as they use the same rendering technology and software. Good measure of smooth performance is if i can pan my head left and right in the cockpit, and the image is smooth and not 'stepping'. I have highlighted some of the DCS settings which have significant impact on performance. My system Specs HP Reverb V1. DCS on NVMe drive, 32gb Ram, 8700k @ 4.9ghz, RTX 2080ti. If you are going to try these settings, i suggest that you take a note of your existing settings so you can get back to where you were.

In the documentation under HOTAS, this switch has 4 positions referenced, FORWARD, AFT, LEFT, RIGHT. Under OPTIONS, CONTROLS, F/A 18-SIM, 'HOTAS' category, there's an additional option SENSOR CONTROL SWITCH 'DEPRESS' Is this additional button used for anything in the sim, or is is planned for anything? Cheers

Cheers, Called 'BATTLE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT'

I would like to switch off the pop up boxes with target damage assessment. Perhaps this is a feature already.

Now Jan 2022, and still no pilot body for the A10C /A10C II ? Anyone got an update? Totally agree an empty pit is a real immersion killer with VR.

Have a G1 reverb, 8700k@4.9 and 2080ti with 11gb ram. Recently noticed my GPU ram is almost fully used on some maps, and maxed out on others. game settings are below. What are the effects on game performance when vram is maxed?. Is vram an issue with the higher resolution headsets?

8700k and 12700k comparison for DCS, anyone?
Fish replied to Fish's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the reply #LucShep Not sure if the 2080ti qualifies as a 'high end' gpu nowadays, and yes all 6 cores running @ 4.9Ghz. Very detailed response #Bob_Bushman.. What would those frame times translate to in FPS? My frame time seems to be fairly fixed at 22ms GPU (FPS locked at 45, but can dip). That would be comparable with your result with the 3090 on 8700@4.8. Not sure what you mean by FSR, as only settings I can change on the G1 are the pixel density in game and the resolution multiplier in steam. -
8700k and 12700k comparison for DCS, anyone?
Fish posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have an 8700k clocked to 4.9ghz. Guessing a move to the 12700k, which has a boost clock of 5.1gHz, will not yield much improvement in DCS, given its dependency on FSB clocks rather than cores>2. Anyone like to comment? -

Thanks... Missions are my own simple, couple of AC couple of enemy vehicles, and canned from DCS. Same result. Happens with/without TIR/opentrack loaded / With / without VR loaded. (TIR and Open track don't use F6. As you can see in the image, key binding has not been changed. Scratching my head

Cant seem to get this working. Here's my gameplay settings, in case there's something there stopping it.

Bound HDG and CRS knobs moving too much
Fish replied to Fish's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Each 'button' (or encoder) 'click, causes a rotation of 6deg. I want to make it 1 deg rotation. for each click. So I guess i'm trying to 'reduce' the gain. Thanks for the info. I'll have a look into that lua -
I've bound these to encoders on my button box, and minimum movement is 6 degrees. With keyboard presses its a little less, but not 1 degree. Is this a bug or feature, if a feature, how can i slow it down to increment 1 degree per pulse/button press? Cheers.

Hi all, I wear prescription glasses and would like to relate my recent experiences in VR. I have readers, intermediates (for computer) and distance for everything else. My prescription has not changed in some time. I have the reverb, and got me some VR 'inserts' based on my distance prescription which, at the time almost 2 years ago looked good. I've been using it this way until recently, but found the 'sweet spot was extremely narrow'. I'm upgrading my VR and decided to make sure I had the correct optics to use with my new set, so I removed the inserts, and tried with my intermediate glasses, and wow, the difference is chalk and cheese. In the F18 I can even see the objects on the map clearly without straining up close. And the 'sweet' spot issue is hardly noticeable. While the 'inserts' make the experience convenient, the prescription spectacles gave me a much more comfortable and better quality experience. I can see objects both air and ground, and MFDs' much more clearly. There are downsides, and my glasses have to 'acclimatise' to the headset, and start out foggy, also I have to be careful not to damage either the headset or the glasses. The take home is, probably obvious to most, if you have spectacles, make sure you try each, and that you have the correct prescription for your eyes. Also the spectacles perform noticeably better than the inserts on the lens. And always test the different options. Hope this helps someone.

Many thanks for all who contributed, even those who's eyes got 'hurt' in the process. From the replies it's clear that despite the plethora of content out there explaining the CASE 1, it is and will remain (as it is in real life), one of the most complex procedures you can do in an aircraft, and I would suggest despite many discussions (debates) about it in the past, there will continue to be discussion about it in the future. To think that people will just read through a post/video on this subject, and with some practice just get it is simply wrong. As virtual pilots we don't have the luxury of 300 dry landings, before going to carrier ops, neither have we the luxury of real people giving real time training and feedback as we progress, so we have to rely on community support, practice and lots of trial and ERROR, to get the understanding. The best we are going to do is to 'get better', and the odd time 'get it right'. Discourse is an essential element of this process. Communities like ours, thrive on encouragement/support and help, and 'CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM' In conclusion, I have considered the advice and will try to follow IFLOLS. In practice however, its likely that I will continue to point the nose upwind a little towards the island until I get better at it.

Thanks, Datalink sounds like the best option.

Tried to set up tacan for a 2 ship (for MP), and use the 'activate' command advanced waypoint option like for the tanker, but it seems to apply it to the flight and not the ship, as it shows up on the activity for both AC. How can we set up so we can see each other on the SA without radar ? Thanks

That's very interesting.

CASE 1 does not mention ICLS anywhere.

Anyone have an answer to this (apart from just eyballing it) ?
