Why have you not mastered this... AAR and low visibility ILS landing's some of the most challenging and fun factors of this sim.

Cheers Amraam. Hadent got 'external views' enabled in the mission editor.

Probably somewhere above in the thread, but can't find it . How do I cycle through other aircarft in the mission to get the F2 or F3 view of them?

:thumbup:Still one of the best

Just read through several 'threads' (pardon the pun), which concluded multiple cpu cores and threads do little or nothing for DCS. just thought id post my findings when i looked at the benchmarks for single threaded performance. I have a 2700k cpu overclocked @ 4.4gHz, and was thinking of upgrading, but from the results below there's not enough benefit for single thread performance. I brought the Passmark results down to 'per GHz' for each chip, and surprise surprise, the pass mark per clock cycle is pretty much the same for all the chips (within 10%). Throw in typical overclocking, and you get a max difference of maybe 20%. Certainly not enough on its own to justify an upgrade with all it entails. But if you are building, then the 7600k is the one, especially at the price! 2700k pass/Ghz 574 (OC@4.4gHz pass 2530), pass @ stock 3.5gHz 2010 6700k pass/Ghz 588 (OC@4.8gHz pass 2820), pass @ stock 4.0gHz 2352 7600k pass/Ghz 633 (OC@4.8gHz pass 3040), pass @ stock 3.8gHz 2405 7700k pass/Ghz 617 (OC@4.8gHz pass 2960), pass @ stock 4.2gHz 2591

Since after 2.02, sliders/axes mapped to absolute views have no effect in the 3d environment. Hope it gets fixed soon. Broken in build 2.0.4.59428.

Not the first, but my introduction video. Really enjoy this mod. The video is done in cockpit and external view. Instructions to synchronise them is in the video description.

+1 Always done it this way, and rotary in place of longitudinal shift... -
Very well done. Would be nice to have this in an editable (word) format. Cheers.

TIR Zoom & Longitude Shift Camera View
Fish replied to Fish's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks but binding is OK, as you can see from the image. And Both TIR and stick slider work, but only when TIR is in Pause! As soon as I make TIR active, Slider stops working. When i 'pause' again, slider works.... I have deleted the input folder and rebound, but same issue. Even used different keys for TIR pause. Would like to hear from someone if both these bindings work for them in that configuation. Cheers Fish -
Hi all, just ran the latest update in both 1.5 and 2.0, and have a problem with views. You can see from the highlighted line in the image, I use the TIR for zoom, and a rotary for the Longitude shift. However now when TIR is active, the Longitude Shift no on longer works. As soon as I Pause TIR, the longitude shift works again. Last time I Played was 27 May 2016, and far as i know this problem did not exist. Also note I tried different aircraft, different sticks (you can see i have to mapped, tried with one also), and both the 1.5 and 2.0 versions. Has anybody had this issue, and if so, any work around. I guess its back to BMS until i see a fix.......... Cheers Fish

Save your ink money and buy a cheap tablet. You'll always have all the manuals available, even for holidays!. And you can be sure of being able to keep them up to date with the current versions of the software. AND, you can increase the font for your old tired eyes.... :smilewink:

BBJ Sim USB rotary button panel
Fish replied to tonyswash's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for that clarification. I thought only difference was the connectors. Clearly more. I got the board to play with, no real project yet. yeah to use diodes etc very messy. X was too much to spend on, but didn't see the difference in the product spec. -
BBJ Sim USB rotary button panel
Fish replied to tonyswash's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I believe that if you need to have several switches 'toggled on' at the same time, using the 32 digital inputs arrangement, you need to put diodes in series with the switches. The 8 analog inputs are completely separate to the digital ones. And the board is tiny. This configuration would do very nicely to create a UFC panel. http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=94&products_id=204 -

BBJ Sim USB rotary button panel
Fish replied to tonyswash's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The core of this is a Leo Bodnar board, and I guess its configured for 12 buttons. (can be configured for 32, but they need additional circuitry.). If you wanted to mod it, you could get 2 additional rotary channels from it. The analogue channels are are nice with 4096 resolution. I bought one of these boards to play with, if i had seen this link, i would have bought one of the BBJ boxes instead. Looking forward to additional products from their line up. Would be nice to see them doing stuff for the FS community -
How much is DCS likely to benefit from Pascal 'v' Maxwell, given how CPU bound it is ? (excluding VR). Interested in any views on this now that release dates and prices are announced.

Black shark is best IMH. You might find this useful. And if you fly fixed wing, you might set your connective to work like a throttle, i.e. pushing, increases, pulling decreases. Its more natural if youre using a joystick throttle'.
