Who should America invade next?
phantom_fly85 replied to VVanks's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This reminds me of the Comedy movie called "Canadian Bacon" with John Candy, Alan Alda, and James Belushi. Here's the plot: The US economy is in a rut, and so is the president's approval rating. What we need is a good war, but the Russians aren't interested. Hey -- how about that big polite country to the north? Wow, could this happen? Sounds just like the political climate today with Bush. Guess who directed it? Michael Moore! Who also directed Fahrenheit 9/11. Are all the planets in line!?! -

I bet anyone could do this sort of poll in Switzerland, Germany, England, or Australia and get the lesser informed people to respond just like that video clip! Some people are interested in being informed and others are not, simple as that. These polls are done on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" all the time and they are FUNNY! Really, anyone who believes these videos as fact are pretty ignorant. There is not scientific basis for these polls and should only be viewed for the comedy that it is, rather than take political sides. Americans are smarter than you like to think. It's not about global dominance or controlling other countries. It's our duty to promote Freedom and the Right to pursue Happiness. Last I checked North America is larger than the European continent and there are only 46 countries vs. the 48 contiguous U.S. states. I wonder how many countries could fit in the state of Texas alone? Also, anybody know where Malta or Leichtenstein is? With out looking at a map! -

Long live the link! :horseback -
Yeah, I don't understand the point of a log book in Lock-on! There needs to be accumilative stats. Also, add up the deaths not just stopping the log once a pilot is killed.

F16 in Lock On still planned?
phantom_fly85 replied to meangreen's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Curious, how did Jane's F/A-18 Superhornet development team get information on flight models, weapon systems, ect? I still have that Sim on my hard drive and love it! I would like to see Lockon develop at least the F-18 A,B,C models of the Hornet. As far as the TAC manual? I would think that it could be referenced from an Engineering University that has Aeronatical library materials. Could be on the shelf, but doubt it's in pdf format to be distributed on the internet. At least charts could be found to develop a flight model from. I think we are all guessing potential of the weapon's envelope in any Sim. For anyone's information about Navy manuals and the access to them I do have NATOPS and ACM pdf manuals and are great references for getting a more in depth study into the Flight Simming hobby. I don't need to distribute them, because they can be found with careful research on the internet. -

The F-18 Hornet NAVTOPS manual can be found on the internet as well as several flight training manuals used by the U.S. Navy. So, your assumption that USN documents are not public is simply not true. The Hornet is exported to many UN countries, so the technology is not top secret. Now, if you want info on the F-22, JSF, or Stealth GOOD LUCK! -
Anybody get their Replacement disk #2?
phantom_fly85 posted a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I bought Lock-on Gold and sure enough I got a bad disk #2. Well, it's been a week and a half since I had emailed the responsible party to get a replacement and still have not received it yet. Anybody else get one of these replacement disk #2's for Lock-on Gold? -
1.1 FC is now $19.95 at NaturalPoint!
phantom_fly85 replied to TekaTeka's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yeah, I'm one of the unfortunate ones that will have to have the disk #2 replaced, because the original didn't launch the game. -
Well said Enigma!

Flying Falcon 4 is like riding a Harley Davidson, if you have to ask why we do it then you'd never understand. Also, the Lead Pursuit developers are F4 fans and they do give a rats ass. I hope LOMAC gets a campaign engine and add multirole fighters, then more of the F4 masses may change their ways. Hey F4 was not built in a day or a year it keeped evolving and that is what LOMAC needs to do.

Oh yeah, and FPS especially Counter Strike.

I like LOMAC, Falcon, and Drama!

I've been on both sides of the fence with Falcon. I was a beta tester for both Super Pak and OIR. SP was more concern with realism and stability and OIR had the best thing that came to Falcon and that was the authorized BMS code. Problem was with OIR it was not stable with the flyable A-10. Just could not make a fly-by-wire sim react like a A-10 should. That's the beauty of Lock-on. All these planes and they all behave appropriately. It was smart that Lead Pursuit just stayed with the viper not try to make the sim fly any plane. OIR would have been great if they would have done the same as LP and the graphics would have been better. Which would have been better, the LP or OIR version? In my opinion the LP is better because of the excellent code work. I do miss the cloulds, weather, etc. of BMS, but maybe in time it will come.

If you fly multiplayer Falcon, then AF is a dream come true. It gets everyone on the same flyable version without all the headache from the other patched versions. Sure not much for a graphics upgrade, but that's not why people fly Falcon.

Lock On Gold actually includes 1.1?
phantom_fly85 replied to SuperKungFu's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
After reading these threads about a Gold version of Lock-on, I had to go to my local Fry's to see for myself if this was on the selves. I visit Fry's on a regular basis and always check the PC gaming area. Usually there is one or two boxes of the original and had been knocked down to $19. Today, no original versions on the selves. Now there was about 20 of the Gold versions on the self for $29.99! I bought one and check the second CD. It said Flaming Cliffs. I must say that this is a good move for ED, because this should get more people to buy it at $30 dollar than $40 dollars plus S & H. It just makes better marketing sense to do this. Just look how well Falcon 4.0 has done in it's new clothes. It had out paced many newer games when released a few weeks back. FC on Hyperlobby should be recharged and it will be fun again. -
You will need a flux capacitor to get that system going! Just add that to your wish list. ;)

For me Lockon is a huge improvement in the Flight Sim category. Falcon4 series is falling farther behind and there are too many modifications out to make any sense of it. One version has great graphics, but the multiplayer sucks. Another has the data base messed up it's unrealistic. On and on... Lockon 1.02 is good and the frame rates are good on my machine. At medium settings I think it is much better than Falcon4 w/ BMS. As long as you can get a steady frame rate that's o.k., it's the lag and pauses that kills you. So, adjust your settings for steady frame rates and not eye candy.

R77 & AIM120 "MAGIC" FOV's ???
phantom_fly85 replied to 4c САВО СРПСКИ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Who brought in the crazy Poles with them! Never know what to expect in the officer's club. Hey, I like the Mig29 too. R-77 is a deadly, highly maneuverable missle. Very effective in Falcon, because you don't get a RWR warning until it's too late. I prefer the F15 and it makes a good dancing partner. -

Dang Souless, looks like the F-15 is FUBAR! I don't understand why this was released if new bugs keep popping up! Lockon 1.02 was O.K and now the set back. -

I don't have FC1.1, hope to soon. However, I do fly Falcon 4.0 Freebird's version of SP4 and in the squad I fly in we have noticed more friendly fire due to the AIM120 losing track with the plane's radar and then going Maddog. Which in turn finds the closest target. When the heat of the battle goes on and pilots are manuevering hard I have made it a habit to enter SST mode to make sure the missle has acquired the target. I don't care if the enemy gets a warning tone from my hard lock, I want to make sure it reaches the designated target. I would suggest in the F-15 to try different scenarios with the AIM120. 1) Long, medium, and short range shots with every radar mode. 2) First try RWS, then TWS, then STT and see if there is a difference. 3) Try different size targets and see if there is a difference there too. I've been a tester for F4UT in the past and we are required to test every possiblity before sending emails to request changes in the code. And then if there is a problem is it replicated by others? I have high hopes for FC 1.1, I hope there isn't a problem with the AIM120. :D
