  1. Mission description: A Quick hop onto the oil rig, a rather shaky double landing and the return flight & landing, to base.
  2. SaitekX52, no torque pedals yet (on order), just 4h33mins logged flight time with this lovely UH1h, yes it can be done  OilRig.trk
  3. Yeah, the CPU seems powerful enough, I fiddled with the graphic settings and it looks like my card is slightly underpowered for this sim. Its still playable and very enjoyable in most situations though. Thanks for you help, next upgrade, gfx card....
  4. What exactly is takeoff assistance?? How exactly does it help, its at 100% by default but Im getting the feeling that it would be much easier @ 0%.
  5. Well Im definitely going to buy the Su-27 module. Isnt there a LOMAC training mission where you have to land this jet on a carrier in 0% visibility?? Buying it for this mission alone. Getting this jet with advanced AFM is a MUST. Hands down the best looking fighter plane of the 20th century, Im also pretty sure its handling is superior to pretty much anything flying today.
  6. A quick question for those very familiar with how the engine in DCS: World works. My PC: i5 3570K (clocked@stock speeds) AMD HD6870 1GBDDR5 16GB DDR3 Intel SSD etc. Right now my settings are "High" in the options @1080p, the native resolution for my monitor. With 2xFSAA. At certain points, parts of the map, my framerate can still get quite choppy although it is smooth for the most part. My question is this, what is the bottleneck in my system? Would I gain smoother gameplay by reducing graphics options or should I clock my CPU higher?
  7. Thanks for that, but it still wont enable the mini mouse. Hmm, going to try and download the latest Saitek software and try with that.
  8. Hi all! Im using the X52 to fly the Huey and Im struggling and fighting this HOTAS more than the actual helicopter. There is one specific control issue that is annoying so please, all of you X52 users help me out, I would appreciate it. I dont use TrackIR. Currently the main hat on my stick is mapped to the POV changes. Because of the design of the stick this is rather awkward. What I would like to do Is enable the mini-mouse pad on the throttle (just below the thumb rest) so that I can use it (with Alt + C enabled) to look around the cockpit. Is there a way to do this? Please note I have not installed any of the Saitek software as Ive heard that is attrocious. Thanks in advance!
  9. Quick question what exactly is Full Military Power? Is that maximum Manifold Pressure, or is it a special setting like WEP??
  10. Ok, it appears that my version is up to date. So I guess more practice is in order, or maybe better newtonian physics are needed (with regards to momentum, gravity etc.) in addition to the already very nice flight model. Cheers ;)
  11. Ok thanks for that, Im at work currently, but will check it once I get home today.
  12. Ok I just bought the Huey module yesterday and Im already having fun just flying around in the bird. I have decided that Im not going to start on the campaign until I "master" landing it under fair conditions. By master I mean at least 51% of the time :music_whistling: After fooling around, reading a lot of forum comments and watching the landing video I created a custom mission and proceeded to try and land this bird successfuly. Needless to say its pretty hard. I have had some success but most of time my landings end up with me crashing and burning. The vortex effect is really hard to avoid but this isnt my biggest problem. This is my question: Landing the Huey slightly harder ends up in a fireball. Everytime. THis is very strange, I understand that landing it harder can result in bent or broken skids and so on, but this is ridiculous its almost like there are explosives inside the landing skids. Is this on purpose? I understand that theoretically you need to put the bird in the ground effect and then land, but sometimes this just isnt what happens and you end up dropping a few feet. Why the damn explosion every time?
  13. Ok, thanks for all your help. Works great, but removing the hand from the throttle is rather awkward, especially in the P51. Ive tried rebining the mousewheel to act as a throttle but there is a rather large problem. It appears that Im unable to bind the mouswheel to anything in the game. Which is a rather strange...Oh well I guess Ill have to rebind the two mouse keys...
  14. Just a quick followup...Where in the commands can I find the "Alt + C" command? (If I want to rebind it) What is it called?
  15. Its not only in multiplayer, when I want to create a mission it asks for me to LOAD a mission, from the default campaign directory. However there are no mission files for me to load. Is this a bug?? Ok let me put it this way. Can someone explain to me in completely noob terms how do I create a new mission from scratch. I dont need the technical details just the few steps for me to get into the editor once I have started DCS World (click this, select this file etc.) Thank you!
  16. Mwd2, is that what I have to load if I want to create a new mission/server??? Ok let me rephrase, I want to create a new mission. For some reason I have to 'LOAD' a mission that I have to create, there is no option for a 'NEW' mission. This is a really bad design if its by choice, is this really the way its supposed to be or am I doing something wrong??
  17. Ive tried to setup a new mission in the editor and tried to host a multiplayer server but there are no files listed in the directories??! What gives, what am I doing wrong? Im in the game, I open the mission editor and the default directory is empty. Ive tried looking for the files elsewhere but they are nowhere to be found. The campaigns work, as do the training missions. Everything else is painfully missing.... I have both the AC-10 and P51 modules installed, latest versions updated.
  18. Thank you very much!! These forums are a lifesaver, these kinds of things should be explained clearly and succintly in some kind of manual.
  19. As the title says, I would like to setup my mouse so I can use it with my left hand instead of the POV switch on my joystick. Preferably I would also like to assign zoom to my mousewheel. Unlike many here I dont own a Warthog HOTAS and TrackIR even though I would like to at some point... My question is, is this possible? Ive tried fiddling in the controls but right now my mouse is setup to something called camera horizontal, (x-axis) camera vertical (y-axis) and as far as I can see this only works in certain external views.
  20. Thanks for all your help, I managed to finish the mission. The blower kicked in automatically at about 15000 feet, even though I pushed on it like a maniac at 14000 (yes I flipped the safety first) it only kicked in automatically. The scoops were on auto (or full, not sure which) but I kept the RPM at around 2600 and did fine up to 30000ft with a little throttle management. The landing was scary as hell though, diving at a steady 15 degrees into low lying thick cloud cover, with just a general idea where the airfield is....well let me just say I admire the real pilots who had to do this day in day out...
  21. Great, thanks for the suggestions. Will try to finish the mission today when I get home.
  22. Ok thanks, will try that. I know the principles of lift over the airframe/wing, so obviously speed is key, and that wasnt the problem. One other question, why rev the engine at such low RPMS. Even at full throttle at that altitude the manifold pressure drops to about 40-45. Will the engine provide me with enough thrust at 2600rpm?
  23. HI everyone, Been having a lot of fun learning how to fly this bird, already getting quite a hang for it been replaying the tutorial missions and just generally flying, landing (mostly crashing) and messing around. For my question. Im stuck on the navigation high altitude campaign mission. I get to the point where I have climb to 25000ft and at a certain point above 20000ft my engine stalls and stops. Am I right in assuming that I have to change the air/fuel mix to get the engine to work at that altitude? How do I go about doing that? Thanks in advance!
  24. Hi I just pre-purchased the game and was hoping to get into the beta asap. While I do realize that this is the beta I was hoping that it was going to be easier than whats been happening so far. Here are my problems, hopefully someone will help me out. First the dxgui binding happens EVERY time I start the sim. Yes I do realize its supposed to happen the first time but waiting 5-10 minutes every time I start up the program is simply  Second of all I cant change any of the settings in the game, if I change the resolution the program restarts and I have to wait 5-10 minutes again and after that the settings are back to what they were. Once again  And finally I cant start any mission. Starting any mission brings up a small error window and a sound cue. Null zeroes are mentioned for all the mission files. At this point Im  Help please. Ive searched the forums, and googled and yet I cant find any solutions. My rig: Intel Q8300, 4 GB Ram, Win7 32bit, Geforce 8800GT...
