  1. Agree, the Gun is a superb weapon, also fitted on the BMP 3. I had the same problem, remembering the gun is on the right ( starboard) side of the aircraft. Keep targets to the right, if you can. If you watch the rounds in the Shkval, the drop off in trajectory is very nicely modelled!
  2. Thanks guys. Ya know I had Track IR on. It didnt play in the track?? When I rebooted the sim, the track did show the Track Ir? By that time I had uploaded the film:cry: The flag pole needs to be eliminated! Also did anyone notice the wheels are below the deck surface, after landing, in close up! I avoided the close ups!:( Just graphical problems in an otherwise superb and unique sim. A10c is awaiting and then F18...perhaps:D:D:D Regards.
  3. Does the texture pack run with BS v1.02 and do you find any FPS issues? On BS V1.02, I have found the Shark Pit Part 1 and 2 by Ricardo, excellent. This is a Photo realistic cockpit. Enhanced at night, the lights are not too bright. If you add the Crystal Clear NVG v2 by JuJuMan then the night flying of BS is superb. ( Probably only in single monitor though:() Other than those, I have the Remove Cloud Shadow by Toby. This eliminates the vertical shimmer in the distance at certain times. Oh and Dragon's ArmA2 Sounds add to the experience. :) Regards.
  4. Just saw the link and was wondering if the ipad could be used with its touchscreen, on the ABRIS. Was also wondering about the Tactical Display in A10? If this works in W7 with the BS and A10, that would be a very nice Touch:thumbup: ( terrible pun apologies!!)
  5. Hi, I was inspired by the "Courier" mission, to do this "first attempt" video ( In clear weather.) I used Fraps and my old Video editor to make the final upload in WMV format. I am still experimenting. The AVI files are too large at 500Mb for 30 seconds! This whole film was 353 Mb for about 5 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQSdcctry9c If anyone completes the Courier Mission, all I can say is well done and what a sense of achievement! ( You really can fly the Ka 50:) ) This is a superb sim. A10c next:thumbup:
  6. Nice Vid. What did you use to record and edit the film?
  7. Didn't know there was a FAE for the Shark! Its not modelled ( is it ?):music_whistling: Hmmm wonder when you would deploy that one?:P
  8. You could add some custom made images to the following file:- \BlackShark\data\images\Countries\UK\Troops\bs I would say you need a good paint program. I use paint.net ( freeware) You could obtain the images from Army Air Core photos and adjust the resolution and size to fit BS. Stripes, medals etc they are all there! Helo model skins are a bit more of a challenge! i have not attemped this in BS, the only way I would say is something like DXT.bmp and paint.net, but I am just guessin with that one! As an example here:- ( 656, they fly Ah64's not the Ka-50 unfortunately) Hmmm may ave a go at this myself! Just rather busy obtaining the "Kamov" helicopter wings!! Off topic, have you tried the "courier" mission? If you can fly that one the wings are well deserved! This is a masterpiece of a sim! Regards.
  9. Did you look on here:- From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia KMGU KMGU container under a Czech Air Force MiG-23TypeSubmunition delivery systemPlace of originSoviet UnionService historyUsed bySoviet Air ForceWarsSoviet war in AfghanistanSpecificationsFilling96 (8×12) AO–2,5RT 2,5 kilogram-mass high explosive mines 96 (8×12) PTM–1 anti-tank mines 156 PFM–1S mines KMGU ( Контейнер малогабаритных грузов унифицированные, Unified Container for Small-sized Load) is a Soviet munitions dispenser similar to the British JP233 and the German MW-1. It can be carried by most Soviet and Russian attack aircraft, including the MiG-23, the MiG-27, the MiG-29, the Su-22, the Su-24, the Su-25, the Su-27, the Su-30, and the Su-34 and the Mi-24, Ka-50 and the Ka-52 attack helicopter. The cylindrical aluminum fuselage is divided into 8 sections, each has its own pneumatically opened doors. It can be filled with: 96 (8×12) AO-2,5RT 2,5 kilogram-mass high explosive mines 96 (8×12) PTM-1 anti-tank mines 156 PFM-1S mines KMGU-2 is an advanced version of the system. Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons restricts usage of such weapon systems. I have no source for how the Kamov pilots aim the weapon? Anyone out there know? In the DCS training video, the standby HUD is shown. Perhaps the Mil rads would help:smilewink: The weapon is compared to the JP233!!! Bet the GR4 lads dont use a standby reticle? Employing the KMGU-2...I think it could be compared to a WW1 biplane dropping early ordinance! But ya gotta marvel at the "effect" of those munitions when they go off, unhealthy if your under them:)
  10. My Ulead Video Editor wont behave itself with the sound files. No matter. I can use it to edit and then save the AVI file and re load the sound file back with Virtual Dub. Now the finished AVI Lagarith file size I have, with 40 FPS at 1280 x 720 is 1596 MB per minute, so 15.9 GB for 10 minutes. Hopefully, now I can do some videos for U Tube. I have a couple done with FRAPS and FSX. FRAPS will work in BS, with the "replay" feature. But you are quite right, that the in built recording feature in BS is a great feature. Many thanks. Regards.
  11. I can load the AVI file into my editor (UleadVideoStudio) edit away then save back to AVI. However, I then have to open the AVI using Virtual Dub in order to re do the sound. For some reason my Editor just alters the sound to a hiss!! One last thing, My 20 second "test" AVI is 532 MB! In Virtual Dub saved as AVI with Lagarith. Is that correct? When I save from my Editor in WMV they are, eg 160 MB for 3 minutes? Sorry for being rather stupid. Regards.
  12. Hi Bucic, I am on the case. Have re done parameters as post #10 and set fps at 40. The duration of the sound track now lasts for the duration of the video track. The problem now is I hear "stuttering" sound. There is a music file, from BS .wave playing on the track. It sounds like its loosing a "frame" of sound , every other frame. Video is smooth, sound is not. I am playing back from the image sequence on Virtual Dub. Prior to saving WAIT ONE...:clap_2: Sorted it! When played back from the saved Lagarith AVI, its as smooth as a Vikhr leaving its tube!:D Very Many thanks, your help has fixed it:worthy: Will try and put a couple of short films onto my U Tube site! Regards.
  13. Hello Bucic, I have followed the above tutorial. Downloaded Virtual Dub and lagarth. Every movie results in the audio file out of sync with the video file. IE the audio file ends at usually 1/3 of the way through the video. Even though the .wav file says its the correct length? Its like the video is missing some frames? Yet it looks to be at the correct speed? I have no idea what is happening. A previous post here in your thread mentions a problem with audio sync, I see the same problem. I am on Black Shark v1.02. The sound is a major drawback, otherwise the method you post is good. Hope there is a solution. Regards.
  14. Can anyone explain how to make movies in Black Shark v1.02, using the Record AVI in the Mission editor? When I try, all I capture are single pictures in png format. I have a video editor, Ulead Video studio as well as Windows Movie Maker. Neither of these will recognise the files. I have FRAPS. But this has a load on the system I thought it would be nice to use the BS built in film maker? Anyone managed this EDIT. Sorry. You download a utility called VirtualDub then use it to convert the BS video files.!! Just have to get the sound to work and I can have a go at some movies!:)
  15. :thumbup:Glad you got it sorted. I am of the school..If it aint broke then..... Now back to the Black Shark:D When I become a fully fledged Kamov pilot, I will embark upon the A10c training! Just waiting for the CD. Superb sims, superb forums. :pilotfly:
  16. Just read this and we have similar systems. All I can think of is, when you re did your o/c did you use your previous o/c settings? Must be something you didn't set up as before? I use 19 x 200 for 3.8GHz. 21 x 200 for 4.2GHz. I dont use hyperthread or speedstep. All settings are for power and speed. I would re check mem settings and voltages. BS should be really smooth with your system. I have all settings up at max in game and only see occasional 25 fps at take off, mostly its 40 fps. Hope you sort it. Cheers.
  17. :lol:Look what can happen to your tail when your wingman doesn't watch your six! Yet its a testament to how well built this superb machine is, it flew and landed (just) like this! Try that in an AH64:music_whistling: But, look at the wingman. He ejected, it seems?
  18. I have tried all the above lua adjustments, in an attempt to have Shkval and Abris on a second, 19" monitor, on the left of my main monitor, no joy! The Nvidia desktop ( for the left monitor) is set as "extended monitor". Have any of you guys got this running with 1.02, on W7 and Nvidia? I think I will abandon the attempt, especially since there seems to be a bug when using NVG's. Just thought I would ask? Regards.
  19. I think its important because you can then choose exactly when you want to "play". On line engagements are commitments and some would find that a burden. Also, as a new Ka-50 pilot, I wouldn't want to burden others with my ineptitude. I get frustrated enough with myself, wouldn't wish myself on to others! Reading over on the A10 forum the issues with AI seem to be being addressed and it all sounds positive. I am still new to the DCS mode of simming, being an old Falcon 4.0 simmer, but I must say I am impressed by the level of attention to detail and enthusiasm everyone has for the sim. The ai in Black Shark, from my limited flying experience ( 30 hours ) seems good, but thats a new guy for you. ;) The enemy ai helicopters, when attacked, will scatter and bug out. This was with one of my own missions. I didn't program them to react that way, but it looked pretty realistic! Regards to all.
  20. The last combat sim I flew was Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. I began my BS flying about a month ago. Patched directly to 1.02. I was very pleased with what I saw. Now as my experience increases I do see some problems. In most cases its obviously operator error. However you guys have more experience than me and I agree there are some issues. Once these get sorted I am sure this will be as near perfect as can be, on a PC costing a lot less than a professional militery sim. On the AI issue. I use mine conservatively, but he does do the recon tasks and attacks quite well. Needs to be on "Excellent" skill though. Lastly, I have been trying to use the NDB (ADF ) (6.70 in manual) and find the RMI needle on the HSI does not point to the tuned beacon? Anyone else find this, or is this yet again my ineptitude! My verdict is its a superb sim of a unique attack helo and very, very addictive. A10 is next. But I have to master this first:book: Regards to all.
  21. No, I dont believe so. It would appear the ground crew would set up your desired frequencies prior to the flight! Thats the beauty of a Russian helicopter sim, reminds you its not a Cessna, with Dial an NDB frequency;) The complete list is in Scripts/World/Radio/beacons.lua. All the frequencies are listed. You can not dial them into the R800 and slave it to the ADF (ARK-22) The file at; \\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\ARK\ARK.lua script for ADF . This lists the 8 presets, but they are preset at the respective frequencies. There is probably a way of re-assigning the presets, but you would have to edit the lua prior to mission! :)
  22. As a new pilot in the KA 50, v 1.02 ( ie never having flown the earlier versions ), I am curious to know whats wrong with the AI wingmen in v1.02 versus v1.01? Am I not using my wingmen correctly? The only thing I have seen is the occasional refusal to do a recon to a data link point. Apart from that, he seems ok, at "excellent" skill level. Just curious as to what needs fixing?
  23. OK here is an amended scenario:- 1. SEAD 2 xSU25t. Looped and triggered when player enters OP Trigger Zone. 2. CAS 2 x SU25. +3 minutes after SEAD. 3. CAP 2x MIG29. Looped to stay over zone as high TARCAP. 4. Convoy reports position at added Wps along the road, that have small Trigger Zones. Also each Truck will report when under fire (damaged). Could also include .wav files ( recorded if you have the time) Whilst AAA is engaging the SEAD and CAS, you pop up from the OP and engage with Vikhr, then close to Rocket and Gun range. ( Reminded me of that famous speech in the Patton Movie,"Hold em by the nose and kick em in the ass"!!):smilewink: Also I would move the FARP further from the FEBA. Great sim!:)
  24. Would it be possible for colin to post his settings he has in the view.lua or monitorsetup.lua? If these were altered in any way? ( I know these screenshots are in daylight, but I can not get my twin monitor setup to display the views pictured?) I am on Nvidia GTX 285. Also, (colin) I see you are on ATI, what have you set in the CCC? As for the NVG, it looks like the "Camera view angle limits {view angle min, view angle max}. in;- "(root)\Config\View\view.lua" are being switched by the NVG every time its used? I hate mysteries in hardware, it takes time away from flying. Trying to set up views is:pain:
  25. Copy your S&R post! It appears the task requires some additional friendly assetts. I will fly the mission first. Then have a look at the MEditor. Possibly use trigger zones for the convoy to give position updates? ( As text although you could use recorded audio files, to give positions and status.) Thanks, some superb ideas! I have only just started learning the MEditor, but have a mission where SU25's drop coloured smoke on advancing troops/tanks, at specific locations and when under attack ( or detected). Also works at night with illumination flares! Simple stuff, but I guess its there if you know how to use it! You have some excellent points! Thank you
