  1. Two downed pilots are in the region near Mt. Elbrus, Europ's highest mountain. You are to provide an escort in two Ka-50 Black Shark's. Two Mi-8's will be the "Sandy" rescue. The mission takes place at high altitude, expect the performance of the helicopters to be at their limits. There is a group of insurgent infantry who would like to reach the pilots before they can be rescued...... The mission has numerous triggers and should run differently each time its flown. Hopefully, there is the correct amount of challenge and will be rewarding to fly. Feel free to add more "Mountain" winds, if you want additional risks! There is a You Tube video on my site ( see the link and signature) My example of the flight may not be the same as yours;) I have also done a variation on the A10c CSAR mission, whch uses the mission planner in A10c, to give you control and command of certain allied air assetts, CAP, SEAD etc. There are two versions of this mission, a two ship rescue and a four ship "NATO" version. Can be found here:- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74363 Hope these provide some challenge, as well as satisfaction upon completion. I have attempted to strike a balance and make each mission fly differently each time you fly. Happy flying! Mountain Rescue Pilots.miz
  2. In my humble opinion the boom operator AI requires work! In the sim, we are looking at a Monitor (TV screen). As sim pilots we do not have the spacial awareness of the RW jet and therefore I suggest some increased input from the AI boom operator! Several times when I approach the tanker and am holding position, the boom operator has fallen asleep. Boom does not move at all? Its kinda like I would like to even up the difference between sim world and real world. I do not mean "make it easy", just give the boom operator an "excellent" AI rating, instead of  Just a thought. Cheers.
  3. This link has some useful info. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=69791 I find multi monitors with BS difficult. It needs windowed mode. I gave up with the idea and stick to a 27" Dell.
  4. Excellent and an inspirational video! Have a go at my "rescue" missions;) Perhaps even film it and see if the pilot can be rescued! I have added a second version, more difficult, with NATO packages and you are commanding the whole show, using radio calls to bring in the packages as you deem fit. In the second "NATO" version, you are in a 4 ship A10 flight, as overall mission commander of course:) I dont underestimate the video process. Your compression down from 50 to 2 Gb is impressive. I have a couple of Black Shark videos on You Tube. I attempted to do a Speilberg , and introduce some video editing that shows some external "action". These Sims are so well written, if you have the skill and the time, (and can fly well!) I think some good "cinematic" results could be achieved. I am thinking of composing a Black Shark mission that emulates the Rescue Mission, but from the enemy side of course! Perhaps getting round to filming a version of both. Anyway, here is a link to my efforts;- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1208775#post1208775 Cheers:thumbup:
  5. Well here it be:- http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74363 For what its worth, I developed the original CSAR in a way that gives you total command of the mission, including control over 2 CAP's, 2 SEAD's the Sandy and the Sandy escort ( a pair of Ah-64's). This is done via radio link to the package. If you think thats overkill, well the enemy mean business! Hope Zamboni publishes his last Devils Cross. I flew it and won:( Despite flying like a total Turkey (like an oven ready one) and getting shot down in the last mission AND loosing all my wingmen (does it get any worse:doh:) I still won the campain. So I am attempting to mod it a La the Rescue mission I just posted. If I fly like a fool, I want to loose! Cheers.
  6. After spending several days evading capture, the location of our downed Falcon pilot is known to ourselves and the enemy. Enemy forces are determined to capture or eliminate him. We are aware, from our Preditor drone, there are two platoons of parachute infantry closing on his position. One from the west, dropped by helicopter, the other from the east who have left their APC's on the road, guarding the valley, to the west. Enemy forces have also mobilised a T72 Tank platoon, with APC's. Intell reports enemy air assets include a flight of Ka-50 Black Shark helicopters, armed with the Vikhr anti-tank missile. They are keen to try out their missile in the air to air role. You are in command of the mission and have control of allied air assets. They are on station awaiting your orders via secure link VHF. You have two CAP flights of United States F15C and Dutch F16 MLU fighters. Two SEAD flights of British Tornado GR4 and US F16 fighters. You also have a Preditor FAC on station. Due to the expected opposition and the fact the enemy has leaked information that it wishes to "make an example" of its superior fire power, the Sandy's ( two Blackhawk's) are to be escorted by a pair of AH-64 Apache attack helicopters. Both the Sandy and the escort are also under your direct command and will hold at the designated waypoint until you deem it safe for them to proceed to the LZ for extraction of our pilot. Romeo 1 is relying upon you for his life and those members of your team are relying upon your judjement and skill to enable a successful outcome. There is time pressure in this mission. Your proven flying skills and leadership will be valuable assets. Tempus Fugit. Good Luck.;) This is a much modified version of the original CSAR mission. I have kept elements of that mission including the speech. (no one wants to hear my accent!) The mission difficulty depends upon how you use the packages available. It may be flown in many different ways and this is what I set out to achieve. Its possible to have an aerial battle between the Black Sharks and the Apache escort, it just depends upon when and how you deploy the escort. Remember to tune radios and use the radio menu to "call" the packages. They will check in expediciously at the start of the mission, so you will need to be on your toes to hear them and then its up to you how you want to prosecute this mission. There is serious time pressure in the mission, which I think adds to the realism and demonstrates how much pressure there is when you are in command! Hope you all like it! :) EDIT. I have added a "NATO" version. This is a more difficult scenario and you are in a 4 ship A 10 flight. ( Dont fly too low in this one, the AI have a tendency to fly into the surrounding mountains);) The packages also attempt to reflect a NATO approach. This time our hero downed pilot may have to use his M16 if the approaching enemy infantry get too close!:smilewink: The Tanks and APC's are in a bit more of a hurry! Edit. Also, one CAP ( Luftwaffe), is flying their MIG 29! Quite interesting;) Edit#2. I have edited the Nato Tempus Fugit mission with the new patch 1.0.8. The file is larger and is in a zip. The new patch adds some features to the mission editor and I have added some "extras" that I hope will be of interest. Its a powerfull mission editor now and ED has a winner here! (Mission hint, if you want to make it more difficult, remove our air superiority and delete the Luftwaffe ( NATO) CAP from the mission editor! OR Simply do not call the CAP or ANY support flights from your F10 radio menu....they will then just stay in the "holding" orbit and will not engage!;) Dont forget you need to "call" in Sandy, or our man will not get rescued! 7. Track IR, mine is at = Smooth setting at 40 Speed setting at 3. TIR v5 with latest drivers. Track clip pro attached to my headphones. Light filter 200, IR setting at 13. If you have sun in your sim area, need to darken the room, TIR hates sunlight. Just dont answer the door and forget you have it on your head:lol:
  8. 2)How about some Russian CAS in the shape of a flight of SU25's. The Russians look to have air superiority so..... 3)I think its a move over to non-dynamic weather? 6) added a flight of F16 SEAD's! Looking forward to seeing your film. I will mod my mission 5 and see if it evens up the tables. BTW, I have "edited" the Rescue Pilot mission. I put a flight of Black Sharks on CAS to overfly the LZ, zone triggered and timed so that unless you get a hurry on they will arive just as Sandy does! Also made the Paratroops advance on the poor guy from two directions. (Zone controlled) Beefed up the APC advance and the T72's, guess they really want the pilot!:music_whistling: Finally I added an extra CAP (F-18's and an "escort" flight of AH-64's to help Sandy)(they need it now!). These flights are all controlled by the player, via radio calls. The flights will orbit and only advance when you call them in. I thought this would add a bit more of a feeling that you (player) are running the show! Also that if you dont fly well, your downed pilot, the sandy's and even the player will find it difficult to survive!:smilewink: ( Black Sharks firing Vikhrs at Hogs......?) If anyone wants a look I'll attach it.
  9. I had a girlfriend who said that all the time, usually before ground services were plugged in.:(
  10. I will try those, thanks. I think its in the logic of the unit if you specify LGB the JTAC should use Lazer? Or at night the IR and/or lazer. They should then use the "sparkle" instruction, if using IR? Up to now they just use WP. Apparently our IR "pointer" on the A10 will show up at night!! I have yet to try that:thumbup:
  11. Is there a way to get JTAC to mark a target with a Lazer or IR pointer? I am sure I have seen this somewhere, but have lost the thread?:(
  12. Page 74 of the GUI. I think you can assign a % to the group. So if the Group Alive is less than %?, the trigger is set. If you look at the Pilot Rescue mission, the pilot is in a "Hold" untill Sandy enters the LZ. Use a trigger of unit strength % instead of the "Zone" trigger.
  13. Comprehensive and thorough! Nice one. ( I still say you should be an instructor on the AH64.......if you arn't allready:thumbup: ) Anyone who can do those "pirouette" circles in the Shark gets my attention! :pilotfly:
  14. I completed your edited mission and achieved 64% too! I was bounced by a Mig 29, who got a lock, but to my surprise I managed to escape ( down to the deck 350 kias and collected some tree cuttings for my garden;) ) Thanks to my Falcon 4 days it was the instinctive thing to do. I may mod this mission myself and increase the Mig cover. I dont think the Mig even got a missile off! There is a temptation, once you have the all clear from JTAC, to get cocky and go looking for more targets, especially air targets. I hate RTB with ordinance unused, even if it is the 'winders. Maybe thats just me? Anyway cool modded mission and hope you managed 5. Cheers.:)
  15. Trying to refuel from a KC tanker, 18 times (18 ejections) and thinking its the boom operator's fault!! My flyings superb, is he drunk?:megalol:
  16. If anyone can fly the Shark like this ................... http://youtu.be/KWxzKHThcZU ;)
  17. Hey Paul, does the A10c have explosive tape to shatter the canopy upon ejection ( like the Tornado GR3/4) or does the entire canopy get blown away from the jet? There is a proceedure when the GR3 is running up, that the techs take cover when the pilot lowers the canopy, there have been cases of unrequested activation of the explosive charge!;)
  18. I believe it adds to the immersion in the sim if you add the coordinates into the system. Warrior has some fine tutorials and if you make it habitual to enter the JTAC Coords, well, it does become second nature! Any RW Hog pilots who can say how they actually do it? I have now started to use a more accurate LL input that discounts the "seconds" and uses decimal place : LL: lat/long e.g. N42 25.559 E042 31.812 Also if you are using AWACS and want to "mark" the calls you can change your hook point to the bullseye (press osb18 on TAD 6 times). Then move the pointer to the coordinates AWACS gave and mark it. Switch steerpoint dial to mark and thats your markerpoint. Of course its an airborne target so it wont be there for long. I just use the bullseye hook to get a situational awareness of what he has seen. There are many ways to fly and fight this superb sim and its up to the individual pilot as to how he/she achieves combat efficiency:)
  19. 1. Buying an Ultrasharp monitor, so you can see every pixel clearly on the MFCD,s (even though your old eyesight is past it anyway!) 2. Flying a Black Shark mission and realise you have forgot how to arm the cannon:cry:
  20. Thanks for the checklists. They work well on my Sony Reader. The AIM 9 Air to Air list is very good. Moving the depressible pipper, down 41 mils to the TGP Boresight position!
  21. And you test it rather well RSM:thumbup: I would close the canopy before arming the seat though. If you pull the handle the explosives may not shatter the canopy or you may decapitate yourself on the canopy frame;)
  22. Thanks for the fast reply. I have SAS, Radar Alt, and Nav mode. It must just take a while to orient the systems! The switch sets "up" once airborne, usually after 5 minutes.
  23. Paul, a couple of questions. 1. The EAC switch flips back to "down" during startup. It will only stay in the "up" position after take off. Is this RW, as in, you can not enable EAC until after take off? Or is this a sim bug? 2. During engine start does anyone arm the ejector seat AND keep the canopy open? ( On the Tornado GR3, the canopy has to be closed prior to arming the seat!) Cheers Chief!
  24. Hey Zamboni, really enjoying the films! I am at 3a and find they run differently due to the randome effects of course and the way we fly them as individuals. I was laughing out loud at your opinion of the ATC:megalol: "The guy in the tower is not the brightest bulb and WILL give you clearance to takeoff AND give them clearance to land." Something for a future patch maybe? The sit awareness, I agree with you, I use the compass far more and include it as part of the instrument scan, so I know where I am ( most of the time:music_whistling:) Keep em commin' and by the weekend I may be at mission 5 myself! I was just remembering the F16 (Falcon) and thought how in 30 seconds, post attack run, you would be 5 miles away! In the Hog you are still in the danger zone. Remembering the WW2 Thunderbolts and the Typhoons who were at 400 knots, faster than we are in the Hog! Those guys really earn my respect. They had no TAD, just the Mk1 eyeball and nerves of steel. Well done again on your film making and it sure is interesting to see how someone else does it:thumbup:
  25. +1 I am unable to use the "switch" function, it does not "set" so the keyboard can be used. It works as a modifier, but then all the CDU keys need the modifier in the assignments? Any chance of some further instruction?:helpsmilie:
