Important change to startup with 1.1.0.9 please read!
ivanwfr replied to WarriorX's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Installed it, no license issue, no uninstall required and it just works... Checked Config changes: Custom SnapViews.lua file had to be restored and Config\View\View.lua entry UseDefaultSnapViews = true had to be changed again to false in order to have Num0+RAlt - Save Cockpit Angles working again. ...my archived SnapViews.lua re-installed, I'm back in business Exploring keyboard shortcut changes... found some new ones to experiment with: LCtrl+\ Switch to main menu Whole set of CDU keys with LCtrl+LWin modifiers ... 1109  so far. -
DCS: A-10C Warthog 1.1.0.9 Full install is up!

Good news but! Don't say things like this in some irrelevant thread with no more information than something is wrong with your Joystick X Axis! It looks like those MS error messages that say you're in trouble for some reason nobody has a clue about and ask you to submit suggestions you may have on how MS could have better helped you... you see what I mean? What seems to be the problem with your Joystick X Axis anyway ? -
In fact, I don't have any problem with TM Warthog, it's so precise that the only problem I could have would be me dealing badly one way or the other. As I said, I'm convinced that practice is the main ingredient to that matter, as it is for most skills improvement. But this does not justify any argument against hardware/software evolution or customization of any of those human-machine interfaces. And it's easy to see how true this is when you consider how each and every peace of RL A-10C cockpit hardware will disappear sooner or later, as did all previous generation instruments. There is always something better to do, and some of us are working to make it happen while others will keep with what they have :smilewink:, with some kind of respect with what has been and should always be kept how it is and always be.

updating from older version, wanna keep kb settings

 sh*t, it was very close but we've just missed an occasion to rant badly against ED. But no worry, we'll find some eventually... -
Take care, you could do nicely till the runway but still get caught in the airport before your reach main gate.

Then it's time to turn thread's thumb up.

Using trim to fly smoothly feels like bad practice as it is not the purpose of this function. When you are satisfied with the static compensation you're done with it and you go back dealing with the dynamic factors with constant offsets trimmed away. When I realize I'm trimming a little too much, it looks like I'm not far from doing something the wrong way... And as a newbie I know many ways to be wrong and my right thumb seems to know when and gets nervous :smilewink:

I think that any means to have our input devices do what we need them to do is realistic. And I'm sure their real life counterpart are not supposed to follow any dogmatic way to build them. If anyone comes with a better way to control those exoskeleton that those planes really are would make a good addition and if you don't, the enemy could. Ergonomics is the word for that and it always had to fight against dogma to break its way through. But I agree with the hard work before success part. For instance, with much practice, one can learn how to play the violin. Yet another point would be to decide whether a car should need to have a clutch or not? All depends what it's used for.

Do you mean as unrealistic as flying your desk with a PC without wings and a stick 3 times shorter than a real one ?
-
If you have the Thrustmater Warthog... TARGET allows you to adjust curve shape and zoom (span) on the fly but you must be ready to get a little deeper into scripting than the average user. I use Friction Control Slider to do that or hold S3 to get into a temporary "zoomed" mode.

Anyone use an 1080p LCD TV with the hog?
ivanwfr replied to bossfrog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, it depends on how you can adjust image settings. You must be able to remove all "enhanced" post-processing that comes with TV/Film image rendering. Pixel-wise, the TV cannot add any good to what comes from the graphic card and overscan is a plague as pixels are broken into peaces to be wrapped into blurry spots enhanced with overshoot contrast "improvement" and extra wide color space  Maybe 100/200Hz progressive image rendering can have some interest on frame-rate or glitter depending on how it's implemented. Sony Bravia does a good job at the cost of some added lag. -
Good! ...till now, nobody said NO! Absolutely not! as it usually happens. I'm a big fan of TARGET but I don't say everybody should use it. It all depends on what you expect and the Plug-and-play symbiosis between DCS and TMW is indeed an asset. You will know you need scripting when jumping from your stick to the keyboard and back will be irritating, tiresome, boring, ... Till then, keep it simple. TARGET is not simple :joystick: it is like, well ...say an A-10C with less buttons, rather complicated, (...many other qualifying words here). But that's why we're here isn't it?

VGA would be horrible anyway: RGB + sync to address pixels ... no-no! -
Do You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C ?

Re new official training mission A10C -
ivanwfr replied to peter14's topic in User Created Missions General
Just don't unzip! The file you downloaded IS the mission miz. It's supposed to be compressed and named with a .miz extension (i.e. mission zipped). Unzipping is simply made on the fly by the sim as a smart storage saver feature. -
I think that any bright enough led would do the job and I could make it work with a Velleman LED lamp from which 3 were selected out of 7. Although fibers may be too directional light sources, it looks like there should be some smart solutions to be discovered as long as the only constraint is having to provide those 3 bright points and LEDs are not power hungry devices.

If you're ready to be persuasive enough, you could try to beg one of our forum admin for it... That would be something like this: [countdown]11-08-2011 23:59:59[/countdown] Yet another challenge : http://www.msghelp.net/showthread.php?tid=16628 where someone did it  yeah, I know, 'm at risk of beeing punished for this!
