  1. P-51D Mustang video Hey Guys, Quick video of me fooling around in the P-51D Mustang with fellow pilots – Crypt, Panthro and Zappa. A couple of low level tree hugging gun runs on the base defences. I’m not very fond of Vulcan’s – 2mins 50secs. Blazing away with the Mustang’s guns and killed a lot of grass. Also managed to knock over a lookout tower or two that got in the way. What’s that sound? Over revving RPM and doesn’t sound good. Oh. It’s a blown supercharger. Joy. I need a lot more practice. The drama occurs at: 00:48 Take Off Roll 01:34 Airborne 02:39 Fly Over 02:52 Ouch 03:38 Tipping In 04:02 Grass 04:34 In From The South 06:26 The End 6z5eFKMOgts
  2. Hello Guys, I've just FRAPS'ed the Day One mission from the Operation Save Badger mini-campaign by mission designer Quirkitized. Originally I recorded this one a few weeks ago, but did a re-record as this version has a better ending. The Day One mission can be played as a single player with accompanying AI wingmen or as a two/three player multi-player mission. I chosen to fly the three player multi-player version with fellow squadron buddies - Panthro and BlackMajic who are along for the ride. The mission objective is a simple one - fly into enemy territory and destroy an inactive SA-10 site with the assistance of JTAC Badger who provides close target reconnaissance of the SA-10 site. This mission requires you to ramp start an A-10C, employ weapons and knowledge of how to input UTM co-ordinates in the CDU of the A-10C. The target area is located in a small clearing inside a forest to the west of the town XXXXXX. (No spoilers! :)) Visible target discrimination is not clear until you get to within about 25-30 miles -- you know the old story, 'You can't see the forest for the trees,' or in this case you can't see the surveillance radar , tracking radar, command vehicle, associated troops and technicians for the native flora. It's a refreshing change to prosecute targets in forested areas instead of placing them in a field in plain view surround by miles and miles of nothing in all directions. Kudos Quirkitized. Enjoyed the hunt in the city to locate the approaching APC convoy. Quirkitized has placed sound triggers carefully which heighten the sense of impending drama as you slew the TGP, methodically searching for the approaching convoy. Your flight buddies are an added bonus, well the extra pairs of eyes in a TGP searching for that convoy are. It also helps that the town is small and not too many streets to hunt down. There is a surprise in the mission, an unexpected SA-18 IGLA hits our flight leader. I provide a visual inspection of the battle damage and we all hold lead's hands until he lands back at base. I've flown all of Quirkitized missions in the Operation Save Badger mini-campaign and I was left with that annoying, empty feeling expecting the mission to have more targets to shoot at. Light bulb moment - there were more targets, the remaining AAA and SA-18's in the forest surrounding the SA-10 site, just not enough for my liking. Maybe an additional element to attack, but that is just me rambling.... I believe the level of player in this mission is geared towards a beginner and intermediate level of player. I need to clarify this by saying, I am by no means an 'expert' A-10C pilot. The necessity of more targets is a personal quirk (:)) and then I realised the genius of Quirkitized, that he use's one specific criteria to rate anything: A-10C missions, Rock concert set lists, ex-girlfriends - leave them wanting more. The mission is really designed for two players and the third player is along for comedic relief. In this flight, lead got shot with an IGLA and couldn't participate in the destruction, while still carrying a full load of weapons. The guys in the squadron will regularly 'blow the dust' off an A-10 mission and I see this one getting regular rotation on MP servers in the community again. For a beginner/ intermediate level of player competency Rating: 8/10 For those who are not an 'expert' and wanted more targets Rating: 7/10 The video is a long one (I know) and I have broken down the action for those that are interested: 00mins 30secs Launch and Transit 13mins 40secs Fence check 17mins 48secs IP inbound 18mins 40secs SA-10 Activation 20mins 10secs Command vehicle down 21mins 10secs SA-10 Radar sets down 22mins 15secs Flight lead hit by SA-18 28mins 45secs SA-10 Launchers down 31mins 00secs CAS Badger 32mins 55secs 4 x BTR-80 column attack 37mins 00secs Egress AO 49mins 30secs Lead Jettison Stores 51mins 30secs Lead Visual inspection & damage check 53mins 50secs Divert to Sukhumi VHF AM 129.000 58mins 30secs Escort lead home 59mins 00secs Land and inspect damage 90mins 00secs Hi-fives, medals and beers

  3. Beg to differ, I have flown SEAD missions in the Su-25A, F-15C, A-10C, P-51D, Ka-50 & UH-1H against AAA and SAM's. Turbojets are great to get you into trouble quick smart and out of trouble just as fast Wild Weasel like :)
  4. Hi Guys, Another video, this one highlighting the new standalone Su-25 just released by Eagle Dynamics. Download and installed with no problems, which is good as I always have this tiny worry at the back of my mind, that the install will crash and you have to go down the path of actually reading the dreaded instructions or worse still, log a ticket with tech support. Run the executable and after a minute, the software auto-detects firewall software configures and generates a firewall rule which I allow my machine access too. Loaded up quickly and shows in the module manager with my serial key. Loaded multi-player and jumped into the first one. No, Su25. Disconnected and jumped into the second multi-player server, no Su-25..... Disconnect and load up mission editor added the Su-25 and hosted a mission myself. Into the pit and the texture maps show the usual DCS quality, expertly 'scuffed' sky blue and bottle green paint look great. Did a few touch and go's (badly), crashed and burned in the first and busted a tyre in the second one. I need to actually spend some time and map key bindings to the hotas and pedals. Important things like toe brakes and deploying air brakes.... Flew some formation with my fellow squadron bud -- Cobra in the A-10C. Did a cool little diving vertical scissors at 7mins 47secs in formation which surprised me, either I was flying really well or Cobra was fooling with me, I suspect the later, as he is a legendary pilot. Anyway the footage looks great from my perspective. Tried to get track footage but kept getting a CTD when attempting to view track file. The team at Eagle Dynamics have created a kick ass strike/attack aircraft that will readily teach lessons in humble pie to anyone in the CAS and anti-tank roles. There are not many other aircraft that can take a punch and still keep flying *see bullet magnet*, this one will. Turbojets will considerably shorten the ETA, TOT and any other related three letter acronym, in comparison to the A-10C. As an A-10C pilot for the better part of two years, the conversion flying a Rook is not going to be everyone's cup of tea, that being said, in the right hands caressing the hotas, it is a deadly beast and any tank on the ground will not have a good day as they become intimate with the pointy end of 30mm cannon fire, rockets, missiles or blunt force trauma from bombs. Worth the purchase for the SEAD abilities in any MP mission. Scored: 7/10
  5. Thanks smithcorp, That's what I have always thought of with joyride's missions. Fantastic quality. My editing leaves a lot to be desired, but like my flying skills, I get better with practice. Glad you enjoyed it. I did flying it. Redfish
  6. Hello Gentlemen This video was recorded prior to the recent DCS World v1.2.5 update. Today, I want to showcase one of my favourite DCS World mission authors: Joyride aka deephouse and his recent mission - Operation Talon's Reach. The mission is a four player A-10C co-op mission involving aircraft start up from Vaziani airbase and a leisurely transit to the AO surrounding the enemy skies of Senaki airbase. An aerial refueling can be performed en-route, or for those whose AAR skills require more practice, carry an external centreline tank as necessary and jettison it prior to AO ingress. The mission requires you to have knowledge on how to input UTM coordinates in the CDU and bullseye/offset CDU inputs to locate and prosecute enemy targets, features multiple voiceover's and the biggest skill of all: Player target co-ordination. (aka sharing targets equally amongst your flight) The action comes in waves and has well spaced AI events to keep your interest from waning. Keep to a safe altitude or end up getting shot down in flames. AAA and manpads don't mix will with the A-10C. Fly low at your own peril, consider yourself warned. Overall myself and the guys found it to be an excellent mission, where you can while away a lazy three or four hours, out of an already hectic life and really commit to a serious relationship between yourself and the Thrustmaster Warthog. Try and explain that to the girlfriend/wife: commit, serious, relationship, & warthog. Good luck with that one. You will need the luck for the mission, and the wife/girlfriend, and if you fly low in AAA/manpad altitudes. I originally scored it a 7/10 but it got an 8/10 because female voice over B-1B pilots are hot! Scored 8/10 Apologies to: Gooseman for crashing at Vaziani. Thanks to: AusHappy, Panthro & Archon for the laughs.
  7. Log another one. This is just how I do air refueling in the A-10C DCS World. The key points: - Just practice and practice and practice and practice and practice! - If you are drifting out of position, then concentrate on correcting one axis at a time: X-Axis, Y-Axis & Z-Axis - No rudder input ever!! - I try and position my sight picture of the boom knuckle and the coloured green band of the boom, as close to the top of the HUD glass as possible and keep it LOCKED at that position. - If the boom knuckle is positioned correctly, then I can see the wings of the KC-135 visible between canopy bulkhead and the cockpit mirrors. - If the boom knuckle is positioned correctly, then I can see the cowling of the left and right engine nacelles in the HUD quarter panel glass left and right of the centre HUD glass. - No curves, No dead zones, Linear Y=X ( This is a personal preference) - My eyes are constantly scanning the same sight pictures over and over, watching my visual references – centered boom knuckle, centered green boom bar, right engine cowling, right wing at right mirror, left wing at left mirror, left engine cowling, back to boom in the middle. Check for X, Y Z axis, Am I on profile? Yes or No. Then repeat the same sight scanning picture. - My eyes are watching my visual reference points and very small, refined stick and throttle movements. It’s just practice, just experience. Your stick and throttle are an important but I’ll leave you with something to consider. I practiced (that word again!) my A-10C skills using the Logitech Attack3 for twelve months. Eventually in time, my wife allowed me to purchase a Thrustmaster Warthog (great stick). Aerial refueling can be accomplished with ANY stick. I have a guy in my squadron who uses an X-Box controller and he regularly does the business with it. So use whatever you have and make do if you can’t get the best stick. It is just a muscle memory skill from dozens and dozens and dozens of hours of stick time. There are a few AAR videos I have, and if you practice twice a day, for 5 days a week, eight months and you will get better. Redfish
  8. Had the Warthog for a while now, prior to that I was using a $9 bargain bin - Logitech Attack3.... Now that was difficult. There is a guy in our squadron who uses an X-box controller to do AAR :) Whatever hotas/joystick/x-box controller you use, the principles are still the same: Watching your visual references and very small, refined stick and throttle movements. It's just practice, just experience.
  9. Here is another vid and I've included a commentary. The key points to remember: - Just practice and practice and practice and practice and practice. - If you are drifting out of position, then concentrate on correcting one axis at a time: X-Axis, Y-Axis & Z-Axis - No rudder input ever!! - I try and position my sight picture of the boom knuckle and the coloured green band of the boom, as close to the top of the HUD glass as possible. - No curves, No deadzones, Linear Y=X ( This is a personal preference) - My eyes are constantly scanning the same sight pictures over and over, watching my visual references -- centered boom knuckle, centered green boom bar, right engine cowling, right wing at right mirror, left wing at left mirror, left engine cowling, back to boom in the middle. Check for X, Y Z axis, Am I on profile? Yes or No. Then repeat the same sight scanning picture. - Eyesight is watching the above visual references and very small, refined stick and throttle movements. It's just practice, just experience. Good luck and get practicing! Redfish
  10. Enjoy your life back now. Enjoyed flying with you guys.
  11. Hello gentlemen, Instead of one at a time adding a video, the better approach would be to have one thread and add all videos to the thread. So with that in mind here is a comp of Vipers Hot LZ mission. Please forgive the thumbnails in Youtube as they look like my daughter painted them with pastels. The mission was recorded a few hours shy of Dusk and I suspect that Youtube incorrectly detects the colour levels could do with some brightening or some such enhancement. Anyway gentlemen enjoy a few vids from the antics of 161 SQN [Tumultuous Fanfare]Redfish[/Tumultuous Fanfare] Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Part 4:
  12. Try pressing M until CCIP appears in the hud. Also a tell tale sign is the dashed vertical looking line down the screen , this is CCIP mode....unless it's in a horizontal dashed line position due to maneuvering. :)
  13. When that happens, add the big pineapple, big lobster and the big banana :)
  14. Haha, Aussieboy post some video of your country MOD. have you rendered the Coat hanger yet? Would look good spanning the creek south of Batumi. Our squadron is a strictly no circus de soleil fans :)
  15. Thanks aussieboy, Got lots of hours of recorded flights and finally getting around to rendering and posting it.
  16. Huey pilot shot down and requires a CSAR huey and A-10C overwatch.
  17. To the left of the Main Fuel flick switch (YELLOW switch with RED) on the centre pedestal panel , is the "LOW RPM Audio" switch, actuate this and the RPM warning will no longer whine.....
  18. A few torque turns and a roll over in the UH 1H. Roll over at the 6min mark. What was that sound? Mast bumping?
  19. Very nice montage
  20. Like I said previously. I will be waiting for the interim report that will be issued, in due time. I will be waiting for the probable cause report, in due time. This investigation is in the early stages and many different information sources will need to the gathered, analyzed, documented, interviewed, massaged .... whatever, in due time (those words again!). Chairman Hersman's briefs media on Asiana flight 214, July 7, 2013 is just that, a media brief.
  21. I'd prefer to get the facts from the interim NTSB report, then rely on media hyperbole.
  22. What software do you use to render the vid? sony? adobe? techsmith? I had a similar problem with colour shifts when rendering in sony and had to disable Smart Resample and that worked for me.
  23. Thanks for that :) Good eyes. Bet you are good at the 'Where's Waldo' books :)
  24. Why are you mad? Idle power descents are used all the time. Most carriers FMS's will automatically command an idle power descent at the start of the terminal phase of the flight. Best to wait for the NTSB report and then know all the facts.
  25. Thanks kobac, good eyes. Fixed. It's a good thing I only have a hand full of vids to fix the error. Imagine fixing a mistake on 1000 vids!!!
