  1. if you wait too long then enemy reinforcements and artillery might pop up and kill your tanks. The best way is to call the other available CAS when you order your tanks to move since you are most probably out of ammo and the new CAS will generally kill the remaining artillery and tanks around. Always send the M1A1 platoon first, then wait few minutes and send the M2 Bradleys
  2. press " and check it during your missions. If its 100 then mission is complete.
  3. Exactly but if you play the same campaign mission with a friend in MP, its even easier :) we need harder missions with time constraints and fewer air support...etc
  4. One thing I hate from the campaign missions is that there are always three tanks or targets, generally speaking. If you find the two, you can easily estimate the location of the third since they are perfectly aligned like our solar system which kills realism in my opinion. I also don't like the the remaining tanks ( if their buddies got killed) to move only few meters away instead of retreating or leaving the area in order to mess with your target acquisition but its lame, they are generally sitting ducks. Generally the Georgian Hammer campaign was too easy and repetitive. So if you are flying G.H. missions, dont worry too much :) The SEAD and CAP are always there for you to keep treats to min while you loiter and search for targets. Do not forget your eagle eyed wingman also.
  5. you can also slow down during your turns to gain more time if you are safe from any treats
  6. right alt+h "right alt+right shift+h" and "right alt+right ctrl+h" changes the contrast of NVG which is useful.
  7. in flight you can always check the fuel flow and estimate easily how long you can loiter.
  8. yes generally the temperature difference between a day/night cycle can go up to 30 degrees Celsius and nights on deserts can be quite cold but talking about a desert itself rather than the operation, its quite unlikely to snow:) a real nice picture btw.
  9. There is one important thing when entering the coordinates for the MGRS coordinate system given by the JTAC and your A/C first position on ground during alignment. "Whether the target is in 37T or 38T UTM gridzone." The longitude line on the below picture. For example if you takeoff from an airfield in UTM 38T gridzone (i.e SENAKI) and the targets are in 37T zone (i.e near the coast), you have to change your zone (LSK-3 one line above where you enter the coordinates) before entering the JTAC coordinates otherwise you get an error and/or a waypoint 900 miles away. To do this, simply type 37T in scratchpad and put it on LSK-3 one line above where you enter the coordinates. If the mission takes place in same gridzone you do not have to do this. More on these: http://earth-info.nga.mil/GandG/coordsys/mmr201.pdf
  10. It is a bug but a useful bug I think, whenever you edit a waypoint coordinate but keep the name same it will put a number near it. So for example you set a new waypoint for the target JTAC assigned to you as coordinates. (i.e, named it as Tanks) when you first clicked the ? on CDU page and named it as TANKS it will be named as TANKS. But it keeps the original coordinate with the displayed waypoint. Then when you enter the coordinates JTAC gave you to your newly created TANKS waypoint, it will change it to TANKS1 since you changed the initial coordinate. After your attack you can get re-assigned to another target by the JTAC. Instead of creating another waypoint by pressing the ? on CDU, you can use your TANKS waypoint again. Simply change its coordinates again to your newly assigned target and the waypoint name will be TANKS2. It simply shows how many times you modified your waypoint. Do not forget to switch to MISSION knob on the CDU control panel.
  11. Thats why taxpayers are for :)
  12. Taken into consideration of the "locking according to temperature difference" I think that the Tornado destroying a ground target with AIM9L in Desert Storm is fake since its a pretty hot environment. Could be in Arctic but I dont think this will work in a desert environment.
  13. this is just a provocation of a newspaper and nothing more
  14. I think you also also drop two with buddy lasing. One lase from you other from your wingman.
  15. Anyone from Turkey interested in a joint flight? Mission, training, formation flight..anything Im also open for anyone in GMT+-2 time zone. my skype: omer.ozgoren

  20. I think DCS graphics are much better than all the available flight sims in the market. It can be improved but compared to the others, its awesome. The above pics explain.
  21. I think that army uses MK82s alot since they have zillions of them in their inventory and try to deplete them fast, since GBUs are much more expensive and you also dont need a targeting pod. Just load the mk82s let them drop. Its like using A-10 as grenade launcher rather than a sniper.
  22. must be static buildings or big/soft targets I think. You really have to hit a tank pretty close with mk82 to kill it and doing it with CCIP over 12k altitude requires great accuracy and nearly no wind situation which is doubtful. anyways..doable but hard.
  23. dropping a mk82 from 12k feet is quite high I think
  24. you can use this link to calibrate your monitor, very helpful: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/
  25. On the 6th mission, BFT06 - Advanced Handling: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59513/ Even if I do the lazy eight and sprial dive, it keeps saying you failed. Am I missing something? What triggers success in these two manoeuvres? Can you please help?
