  1. Juan, If you're upgrading for Lomac then personally, I'd get this cpu... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103529 With that 4200 X2 you're giving up 512 megs L2 cache and 200 mhz clock speed as compared to the 4000+ San Diego core. If dual-core is important to you then yeah, that's a fine choice but Lomac doesn't do anything with dual-core. That mobo you listed is gonna leave you stuck with AGP! Plus, it has a VIA chipset which isn't supposed to be as good as an Nforce (or Uli in my case) board. I'd stay away...go with the AsRock board.
  2. Hi juan_mol, it sounds to me like you might be looking for the AsRock 939 dual sata2 mobo. It supports your agp card and will have you ready to upgrade to dual core, socket M2 and PCI express...can't beat that with a stick. :icon_jook As far as your processor, I'm not sure if you want dual core (X2 AMD's) but if you have $400 and aren't into overclocking (the AsRock board isn't supposed to be a huge overclocker anyway) I'd say at least look at the 4000+. Mebbe check Pricewatch and Newegg to get some idea on prices. I'm not sure what speed your ram is but you can pick up a gig of Corsair value select PC 3200 for around $80 at Newegg. One other thing, make sure your PSU is up to the task. A nice Antec True power 480 might be a good choice if your PSU is getting long in the tooth.
  3. My specs... Athlon 3800+ Venice AsRock 939 dual sata2 1G Corsair PC3200 9800 Pro 128 MB (256 bit version) W/D 7,200 rpm 40 G hdd Well, Lomac runs a heck of a lot better than 1.02 did on my old P4 but my 9800 Pro is starting to show it's age. I think I'll always have a soft spot for this card but I want to run Lomac a bit better. Do you guys think an X850XT will handle Lomac a lot better than my 9800 Pro? I'm also thinking about going to 2 gigs o' ram...yes or no on that one.
  4. I'd also like to know about dual/multiple monitor support as I'm entertaining the idea of having a seperate screen just for the awacs/map view. I have an Asrock 939 dual sata2 so I can run three videocards but for the moment I just want to find out if Lomac supports two monitors using two seperate video cards.
  5. Same here Santa's gonna bring some situational awareness this year. :icon_jook
  6. I think I'm going to install FC 1.11 on a seperate partition of my drive.....hopefully that will keep it away from my main files on C:\ drive.
  7. Not if they play the Eagles or the Falcons. ;) Ok that's the NFL but imaging a team called the "Fulcrums'. :p
  8. Nah we have a Canadian team too....
