Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS
Nybble replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well it finally arrived! Amazingly impressed with the build quality so far. I'm just about to load up DCS and give it a fly. I'll probably be back with some questions, but I allready have one; My firmware for the stick is FW: 11, and the throttle is FW: 19 - Are these the most up to date? I'll post back soon with how my flight goes! -
Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS
Nybble replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not for sale :smilewink: Well I went ahead and bought the HOTAS, as well as the Saitek Pedals. Thanks for all the help thus far, I'll put some pictures up of my final setup when it arrives. Just one more question, I read that the throttle has an idle-cuttoff feature, where you have to pull the throttle up to move it from off to idle. Can this be used to start the engines or do you still need a separate keybind? -
Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS
Nybble replied to Nybble's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ok. I was looking at getting the following pedals; http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16915 The store I'm purchasing sells both these and the HOTAS, are the pedals any good or is there a better brand to go with? -

Upgrade X52Pro to Thustmaster HOTAS

well im pretty set on getting the hotas. just a couple more questions, do I need to purchase peddles, or can I twist the stick? and how is the software, as the software for my older ones is terrible. sorry for the formatting, on my mobile and it's gone spastic. thanks again -
Hi all, My GF recently got into DCS:World, and has quickly learned the SU-25t, and is considering purchasing A10c / BS etc. Currently she is using an old Logitech Extreme 3D pro, but she is interested in upgrading to an X52Pro, as she's used mine and likes it quite a bit. However I was thinking maybe she could have my X52, and instead I'll upgrade to the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog. Basically I've come here to get a few opinions from owners on their thoughts on the stick, and how it compares to the x52. Also I saw a thread about the HOTAS getting 'bricked', and got a bit worried, so whats up with that? Eagerly awaiting some feedback before I rush out and waste $400. Cheers, Nybble

That's pretty much what I want to do, but I cant place the weather the way I want. Do you know an easier way to do it?
-
Cheers, I gave Tblisi a shot. Unfortunately It's not quite high enough and is just inside the clouds when they're as low as I can put them. I'll keep playing around with it a bit later and post the mission file when it's done :)

I had a go with edit lua files, didn't work so well :p I'm going to work with two different airbases, with one at an altitude above the cloud-base. Does anyone know off the top of their head of an airbase with a high altitude?
-
Two more questions I've come up with - Can the weather be set to change after or at a certain time? - Can I set an a10c with more specific settings, for instance I would like to have multiple flight plans set in the plane. I'm working on having a play with the lua file from the linked thread, i'll let you know how it goes :)

Thanks for the speedy replies. RE: Stuka - Can you help me further with that method at all? RE: Druid - Can you set a max height for the fog? I could only see options for density.

Hi there, I'll try and keep this brief :) I'm trying to create a scenario where a player takes off from one airbase, and has to land at another. Catch is that en-route to the landing zone I want the weather to change into a blizzard with minimal visibility. I can make the mission start with such conditions, however I need a way for them to dynamically change. I would be happy with either a trigger based change, or just a few different weather zones. Is there any way this is possible? Thanks, Nybble.

Thanks for the help thus far. My internet connection is playing up at the moment, I left the file downloading overnight and it only got though 5%. Once my connection is normal again I'll get it downloaded and get back to you. EDIT: Downloaded, deleted existing BS2 key from reg, installed, activated. Everythings running great now, thanks for the help!
-
Ok, I am downloading the upgrade module now. One problem I forsee is that my original copy of DCS:BS is in steam, which required no activation when I ran it. Will that be a problem?
-
Oh. I can't remember which setup I used. I already owned the original BS on Steam, so I purchased the upgrade version. I'm guessing that's what I would have downloaded and installed.

Thanks for the replies! In regards to which module I installed, I believe it was this one here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=product&ProductId=12&end_pos=135&lang=en As far as the registry entries go, could you point me to which key needs to be deleted? Thanks again, Nybble

Hi there, my ticket has been open for a week no with no reply. Could someone check it out and get back to me? Thanks! Nybble.

A quick question (I can't keep the bird in the air)
Nybble replied to Nybble's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
What does IAS stand for btw, I've heard it thrown around a fair bit. -

That would probably make sense. I'll ask him. -

Wow, so many replies so fast. When I say throttle, I meant the on my joystick, which controls the collective. I guess I'll just keep my speed down then :) Thanks for that, if you don't mind, keep an eye on this thread, I'm playing now and if I have any other questions I'll ask them in here. -
Hey everyone. I've been messing around in the Black Shark, and am having a problem keeping the chopper in the sky. Basically I'm finding that once I reach higher speeds, I hear a warning tone (beep beep beep) which I believe is linked to my rotor RPM. If I lower the throttle and slow down a bit, the beeping stops. If I don't, the beeping changes to a much higher pitch, then the tips of the rotors break off, and I fall to the ground. One of my friends has been playing as well, and says he constantly has the throttle maxed, and has never had either tone beep. So if you know whats going on that would be great! If you want me to I'll attach a track. Thanks!

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. I've seen countess A10c videos on the internet where this is the case, is it somthing they may still be working to implement or am I all out wrong?

Just a quick question, probably a simple answer. When firing the Maverick, is it possible to maintain a view though the seeker head via the MFCD until the Maverick makes contact with the target. Thanks in advance!
-
Thanks for that, much appreciated.
-
Hey all! Just starting to learn to fly around and whatnot, but I am struggling with some of the view controls. For instance, when I want to look at the left MFCD, I use the buttons NUM0 + NUM4, which focuses on the display. However I have to hold down NUM0 for it to keep that view. What I'm after is a way to toggle that view, one way or another. I've searched around heaps, and triend so many button combinations, so I thought I'd try here. Thanks in advance! Nyb
