  1. Hey there, Just go to the module manager page within DCS:W (The standard launcher) and click on CA then hit update, it should do the rest. (EDIT: Only just noticed a new patch is out, so if you have tried what I said then disregard)
  2. Hi all, I tried to modify mission 10 from the P51 challenge campaign (where you fly through the town at low level) so that it could be playable in MP. Everything works for myself as the host, and I can see the green gates to guide me around the course, but other clients cannot see them, regardless of which aircraft is used. Anyone know if it is possible to have them globally visible? Thanks (Attached is the .miz I am using) ConcreteJungleMulti.miz
  3. I tried pulling it off with the pliers but it slipped back each time. Maybe mine were of the wrong sort but they weren't stable enough to pull it far enough back.
  4. Ok we are all good! I opened her back up to adjust the gear. At first I was worried it would take alot of trial-and-error to get the right tooth lineup, but the simplest method I would advise would be to alight it with what looks like the middle, then shift it full left and right and see if the end teeth lineup too. My only issue with this modification is that sometimes when returning it to the neutral position, the lack of the detent lets it sit slightly to either side, as seen in this picture: (Slight left rudder with neutral input) However that's easy fixed with a slight deadzone, so no issue there. My biggest challange for the whole process was removing the spring, which to me felt that it was locked into position and not removable. My tip for overcoming this is to use the notch of a key to stabilize it then apply alot of force to extend the spring, then pull her free. Here's a reference picture, feel free to include it in the original post if you like: All in all a 10/10 addition to the pedals, I would recommend this to anyone who owns a pair. Good stuff PeterP, +rep!
  5. Oh cheers. I'll open her up and give that a fix, and post back how it goes.
  6. Hi all, I attempted to remove the detent from mine, and all went well and physically it feels great! Buuuut, it looks like I messed somthing up, the with the pedals in the neutral position they are off the the left. Attached is a picture of the input. I have tried re-plugging it / rebooting and all the normal troubleshooting, so I assume I didn't put it back together properly. Before I pull it apart again, has anyone encountered this and if so what is the cause and solution? Thanks!
  7. I can't stress enough how the currect weather is an immersion breaker to me. The rain effect is so far below the DCS:W standard I can't understand how it hasn't been touched up yet. Also when you look down you can see a line where any weather effects get cutoff and it just looks silly. Looking forward to an update on these effects.
  8. By config do you mean system specs? If so; core i7 2600k @ 4.0Ghz GTX 480 [ There's a second one in there but its disabled because somone spilt coke on it :( ] 8Gb 1600mhz RAM 180Gb Intel SSD I'll have a look though those links now, cheers!
  9. If I am reading into your problem correctly, I don't think what you want is possible as the z-axis will read the position based on the track IR input, blocking out any key presses and such. Perhaps you could adjust the axis configuration, maybe set it to slider mode and adjust the levels so it starts where you desire. Then moving your head in would temporarily zoom in? Also your writing style was very refreshing and quite enjoyable to read. Ten out of ten would read again
  10. Hi there, I'm trying to optimize my configuration for the best graphics : fps ratio, however while looking though similar threads I have found alot of the suggestions are outdated, some as far back as FC2! Can someone point me in the direction of some tweaks useful for the latest version of DCS:World? Thanks !
  11. Don't forget rudder pedals! There's no twist axis on the Warthog HOTAS!
  12. So effectively my target is aware of me and is turning to face 90degrees away from me? If this occurs what should be done as a counter?
  13. That's just it though, I can ALLWAYS pickup an AI bandit (because they are predicatable maybe?) in my own servers. I have no issues using the radar and am quite comfortable locating a target if I know roughly where it is due to AWACS support. My problem lies with human players who I have detected always managing to drop off the scope once they become aware I am hunting for them. EDIT: If any of you want to show off jump into an online server and take on some bandits, I'll gladly watch though the track
  14. That is some very good information, thanks :) One thing though, the emphasis seems to be on cannon dog-fighting which is fine, but I would like more information on how to tackle longer range attacks. For instance I was on a server today where I flew out (solo, I know thats a mistake) to the objective area. I was using my RWS to detect theats and only toggled my radar on in short bursts to try and keep the element of supprise. However doing so each time I got a lock I was being jammed (I was in 15c for the record) so I locked up the target and moved towards it. Each time I would hold lock for about 30 seconds or so and then loose it, and be unable to find it again on the radar. I ended up flying around the objective area until I ran out of fuel, and there was 20+ people on the server! Any tips on how to approach this better?
  15. What does the community expect from the 'mid level' modules? I have noticed a lot of heated discussion on the topic of the newly announced 'mid level' modules. So much discussion which is moving so fast would make it quite a task to sift though, so I thought a dedicated topic would make sense. So, I ask, what does everyone expect from these new modules? Keep in mind - No price has been stated Each module will implement an advanced flight model (AFM) for the aircraft An existing copy of Lock-On will not be required Wags stated in the announcement; "We also want to release these aircraft in such a manner to allow users that are not interested in Flaming Cliffs 3, or do not have a Lock On installation, to still have these aircraft in their DCS World stable of aircraft, but at a greatly reduced price. "
  16. Hi all, I have been playing alot of FC3 recently and as such have been practicing alot of dogfighting in the F-15c and Su-27. I am very competent with use of each of the radar modes and weapons... ...against A.I. who do not fight back. When I fight real players online or A.I. in missions I have limited success. I was looking for some tutorials on how to manage an engagement properly, can anyone point me in the right direction? Just to keep you informed I am not a total newbie, I am good with BFM and understand most of the concepts there, and find my energy management skills and target tracking to be quite good. However I seem to struggle to apply this to the phase between acquiring the target initially and the turning fight. Any help appreciated!
  17. Hey Tyger, cheers for the reply! So if I follow your method any mission I create will default to my own settings? What about if I download a custom mission, will I have to manually change them or will they be enforced simply if I host it?
  18. Awwe no-one? I'll also add that I would like to disable the "Player x killed y with z" messages, anyone one if this is possible?
  19. Cheers Viper, that should be enough to keep me happy :)
  20. Hi all, I've been playing though the FC3 beta quite considerably, and the only real issue that stands out to me at the moment is the setup of mapping controls to my joystick. I am using the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and am trying to set my controls to function in a very similar way to that of the A-10c, but there are a few things that seem to be preventing this. For instance, with the HOTAS I can start either of A-10c's engines by moving the throttle from OFF to IDLE, however I cannot find a way to set the F-15 to replicate this. Similarly with the Nav lights, if I set them to the pinky switch on the throttle it acts as a toggle forcing me to flick the switch down to turn them on, then up then down to turn them back off, if you get what I mean. So I was wondering if anyone has found a better way to map the controls than I have. I understand that the aircraft in FC3 have been modeled in a simplistic manner, however I would be rather disappointed to find that I can't set things up to take full advantage of my peripherals. On a closing note, very satisfied with the module as a whole, just looking forward to getting my controls setup perfectly :D Nybble
  21. Hi all, I was wondering if there is any server configuration possible in DCS:World? Currently It seems that you set all options, such as restricting external views and the like on a mission by mission basis, however I wish to override this and set it so that any mission I host would, for instance, restrict external views for myself and all clients. Having a look though /scripts/server.lua didn't net anything of interest. Hope to hear back soon! Nybble
  22. Ok, thanks to all! A FULL (Emphasis on full) reinstall of DCS World solved the issue, and I was prompted to enter my serial key, which was activated seamlessly. Thanks again!
  23. Ok, i'll back everything up and give that a shot. I'll post back in the next 20 or so to let you know what happens.
  24. There are 2 files in that folder, 'fc3_protect,1' and 'fc3_protect,2' When I run either of them I select activate / deactivate product, then click next. The window is closed and nothing happens from there. When I click event log instead, I get the following error: http://i.imgur.com/AcwDe.png EDIT: I have reinstalled it a few times now, with no luck :(
  25. Oh ok, would you be able to troubleshoot me if possible? My installation worked without issue, but I am yet to be prompted for activation. How can I manually activate it? Also I just purchased my copy from the site, so I do have a key to enter now.
