Nato Western Style Airbase buildings? DCS 2.5
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Lets see what I can find, I'm good at creating textures but i know nothing bout 3d modeling and animations. Also I don't have much time but I would love too see some Shelters like this to replace the Shelters in DCS Caucasus.. Some office type building like this (behind the shelter in the first picture) a fence kinda like this that we could place inside the base as static object more ideas: -
Nato Western Style Airbase buildings? DCS 2.5
Ghostrida9 posted a topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Is someone working on some New Airbase Buildings? Nato Western style look. I allready got Virpils Object pack but honestly we need some more Airbase type Buildings. :( Someone? -
Hi, DCS 2.5 brought me back into the DCS World. I still wish the Airbases would be more populated, still most Airports and Airbases look kinda like Ghosttowns to me. Anyway, thanks to Virpil and Rangers Object pack we can change a lot and bring some life into DCS. By the way, I don't know nothing 'bout 3D Max whatsover, maybe someone can create some more Signs, Virpil if you see this please help me out. I changed the textures to create some Airbase signs but I need more so I can create more textures for the Taxiway Signs A/B/C/D and so on.. they not perfect but they do the job. At least in the Daytime. Back to topic, I never liked the Shelter textures so I decided to change them and give them a more western style look. I love russian jets don't get me wrong but I could never stand the look of the russian Shelters and taxiways. Maybe someone can create some new Western Style Shelter with working doors ???? I would love to create a descent texture. Changing the Taxiway and Runway texture is a pain in the A**.. I did what I could but it's more difficult. Sadly the Rollout Texture looked better in DCS 2.1. Enough Talk, enjoy. Almost finished

SpeedTrees & edm Tree Mod, what can we do?
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
yes i figured that there's no way anymore to mess around with the db_countries.lua and and db_groundunits.lua (inside Script/Database). If you just change one dot the Sim won't start nomore. So yes all mods need to be added via Mods/Tech.. -
SpeedTrees & edm Tree Mod, what can we do?
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
some news, I've made a backup of the whole vfstextures Folder (Mods/terrains/caucasus/vfstextures), then erased all the zip files inside the vfstextures game folder and started the sim, the SpeedTree models are still visible but the Textures of each one is gone, means that they're probably an edm model or something else that is probably locked inside one of the big scenery files. Also erasing all the zip files leave the whole Caucasus scenery almost completely without texture, just the far texture of the buildings is left (City buildings) and mostly the textures of the structures we got inside the Mission editor. When I get closer to the City buillings they completely dissapear... I'll put back zip after zip file and see what comes back to "life".:book: -
SpeedTrees & edm Tree Mod, what can we do?
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks Eddie, it seems like the file integrity and also the integrity check seems not so forgiven like before. Maybe sooner or later some one of us will figure it out or ED is so kind to at least share some light. At least we can Add structures via the Mods/Tech folder, I always had the wish that someone would create a Western style 3D Shelter model that could replace those standard Shelters across the Map.. guess i can finaly throw this idea over board. Anyway, do you have the matched color trees ready to download somewhere?, don't need a JSGME Mod just tha Textures  -
Hi Folks, this thread is simply about Speed Trees, I just wanne understand how they work and if we can make use of them for mods. Do they have a Model file and textures like every other Object does? No don't refer my to the SpeedTree homepage.. saw this allready What I figured out so far: There're no edm files anymore for trees inside the DCS Open Beta/Bazar/World/Shapes folder. I only found information about trees inside the: Mod/terrains/Caucasus/Models/BlockTrees (*.json files which seem to locate the textures files) Mod/terrains/Caucasus/SurfaceDetails (dds texture files for the trees here) Mod/terrains/Caucasus/vfstextures (only *.sb files for the trees here) There're different Trees like: If I add my old Tree mod wit the edm files it looks like this..matching the color to make them look kinda similar to the SpeedTrees should be possible, but as seen bellow the *.edm trees start to brighten up very strange when the camera face the direction of the sun. It's caused by the defered Light, switchin to HDR solve this problem but HDR looks horrible, so i wanne stick to defered light setting, maybe there's a way to change the reflection of light on the edm tree files? all other Objects seem not to brighten up that strange and those Objects are all edm files too. (Dark trees are the edm model trees) I can only hope that they're not locked inside the large scenery files in Caucasus/Scenes or Caucasus/Surface if yes then we're locked out of the process to do mods with Tree files, at least when it comes to use them in the mission Editor. Can someone from ED share some light on this, is there a Model file for the Trees? *.sb or *.ref file?? Is it possible to include them into the mod Folder with lua files (entry.lua etc) . Thanks:helpsmilie:

Scale of Speedtrees in 2.5
Ghostrida9 replied to Bananimal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
ok, here is a comparison in height regarding the new SpeedTrees and the old edm Models.. (don't mind the quality). Some are a lil taller, some smaller, some the same so lets squash this. Someone got any news where the SpeedTree Model files alre located and if, what type of file are they?? I think now we got real woods, still not enough Trees around Airbases in my Opinion..:( -
Scale of Speedtrees in 2.5
Ghostrida9 replied to Bananimal's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Do some of you guys figured out if the Trees do have a model file? I need those for an Airbase mod, adding the old edm file Trees looks horrible, they too dark and don't work that good with the new light effects in caucasus 2.5. I browsed all the folder but I only find *.sb, *.ref and many dds files.. If some of you guys got an idea let me know. I can only hope that they're not locked inside the large scenery files in Caucasus/Scenes or Caucasus/Surface if yes then we're locked out of the process to do mods with Tree files, at least when it comes to use them in the mission Editor. -
Thanks Neil, yes I figured that we got SpeedTree, on my seettings Trees look better but as I figured they don't seem to be edm files anymore. Saved Games/Mods/tech that does the trick.. nice, one step closer. Lets think about the Speed trees, worst case is that I can add some trees from the older dcs Version (edm files). but who can give us some infos if we can somehow "grap" the speed trees as files that can be used like edm files.. all i want is to add them to the mission editor.

I try to make this shoort, I love DCS 2.5.. the landscape and detail is a game changer in my opinion. It brought me back to the Sim. I always enjoyed to add Objects to the Mission editor. If I create a Mods/Tech folder and put some Objects like ships in, they don't show up in my mission editor, also it seems like that tree EDM files don't exist anymore, it seems like the Trees are *.sb files/*dds files and all packed in zip files. Also there's a folder called Caucasus/SurfaceDetails. Any chance to add those Trees to the Mission editor, I miss adding some Forrest and different tree formations to the Mission. Before Caucasus 2.5 it was possible..:helpsmilie: Thank you

Hey Community, is there a chance to add some fly over, approach sounds like you can hear in the Video bellow. I'm a sound engineer and I allready recorded some jet sounds of different jets at different Airbase locations (High Quality wav files). It would be nice to have 3 or 4 different sounds, one for heavy bombers and large jets, one for medium jets like the F-16 and one for smaller jets like F-5. Maybe one more for large planes like Awacs. A similar sound like you can hear on the video from 18 - 20 seconds [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or6WFTNkl74[/ame] Greetings

Hi, to make it simple, do some of you guys know how to add this function, sure the KI does it by itself, but how can I connect the function to a Button (Flaps or whatever) when the Tornado is flyable? I've searched though alot of *.lua files but can't find nothing which refers somehow to the wing sweep function. Any help would be great Thanks:book::book:

DCS World / Flamming Cliffs 3 Adding Trees Bug

ok, i solved it again, the best way is to create a new mod, with all the tree edm models in it.. this way, they appear correctly.. -
DCS World / Flamming Cliffs 3 Adding Trees Bug
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Ok, after tryin almost all the "tree" files, I found something strange. All "small " trees (called trees_1.edm up to trees_12.edm) work, they're placed correctly at the Ground, all of these tree files also have a file called trees_1_blk.edm and so on up to trees_10_blk.edm (Don't know if thats important). Open up those Tree files with the Model Viewer shows that you can zoom out as far as you want, the Model is still visible. Now i'm goin to the "bigger" tree files like trees_166.edm up to trees_2047.edm, and all the alleya model files. Something is wrong with these models, They appear on Sealevel beneath the Ground until you zoom out with the Camera, the further I zoom the more they start to "grow" out of the Ground. Also open up these Tree files with Model Viewer show a strange behaviour, when I zoom out the Model start to dissapear? Whats the difference between these files and the small tree files. It can't be something difficult to deal with, someone from ED or somebody willing to help me out with this?? Thanks (I'm running the game on low setting just to try out) -
I figured out how to add lamps to the mission editor, but they don't have no effect. Even the lamps all across the Villages don't have no effect when it gets dark. ED just added a Light Texture or something else bellow every Light inside the Sim.. the (Street) Lamp itself don't have a shining Light or Light Beam.. would be nice to add some Lights inside/and in front of the Aircraft Shelters Some ideas how to add some Lights, Lamps, Light Beams..Something??

DCS World / Flamming Cliffs 3 Adding Trees Bug
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Ok this is funny, I just added a different Tree Row to the Mission editor and now it works.. I don't know why but it seems like that I've solved this Poblem myself. I'll try a few different "Trees" and see what happen. -
Hey folks, after almost 2 years, i'm back to DSC with the release of DCS World and Flamming Cliffs 3. Even before I played around with the Jets and Graphics, I tryed to figure out how to mod and improve the simulation. There're a few things I want to talk about but I think it's best to create a own Thread for each one since every one is pretty different. I've started to continue my work on my California Landscape mod after a long break so i wanne finish it for DSC since i see the potential of this Sim. So lets start with adding Objects: I figured that the Folder for all the Fortifications is (DCS World\Bazar\Terrain\Structures\High\EDM). Adding some of these Objects that are not listed inside the Mission editor was also pretty simple, you just need to make sure the Original Name of the Model file is correctly written. For Example, Adding one from many Tree files I did the following: 1: I open the File db_precountries.lua and added the Following line: cnt_unit(default_Fortifications, "Trees166 Medium Line"); (This file is great cause it will add the Object to all countries inside DSC) 2: then I opened the File db_units_ground and added the following line: fortification( "Trees166 Medium Line", _("Trees166 Medium Line"), "trees_166", 100); "tree_166" is the exact Name of the Model, Trees166 MediumLine is the Name that i used for the Mission editor. Ok, it all worked out, I can place it as a static Object, no matter which country I choose, the Problem is, the Object appears at Sealevel, far bellow the Ground, not like other static Objects which appear correctly on the Ground.:mad::mad::mad: Somebody outhere who can tell me to fix this Problem???? Thanks and Hello again..

Crash to Desktop after 96% loading (DCS WORLD)
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Game Crash
Right, anyway XP will not be supported for the Future Products that I need so i've to upgrade sooner or later anyway.. Ordered a New HDd allready so I'm aiming for Win 7 Pro 64Bit.. and see what happen with all my Programs plus DCS World. I've also downloaded the A-10C upgrade.. but same result, crash at 96% of the loading button after I've pressed the Fly button..and winz..I mean If DCS make use of 8GB Ram also on a 64 Bit System? not 32bit..guess the answer is Yes -
Crash to Desktop after 96% loading (DCS WORLD)
Ghostrida9 replied to Ghostrida9's topic in Game Crash
I hear ya'll, thing is i don't wanna brake my stystem right now since its running perfect also with many of my programms that I need for work.. and i'm not sure if they would run smoothly..will buy a new HDD and try a Win7 64Bit Version with all the Programms to see if things work out..I could use the advantage of 8GB Ram and more then.. Does DSC World also make use of more then 4GB Ram..? I guess -
Its been a long while since I ever had the Time to play a Sim..but finally, I heard about DCS World, I download the Files, uninstalled my A-10C and just tryed DCS World Alone, (Single player).. the following error appeared after rebooting the Computer also. When i go to Mission Editor, and just simply place a plane somewhere, Ramp takeoff..and Click Fly, the Sim crashes back to Desktop after 96% of loading without any error message. (At least I don't see one). When I try the same with placing a Su-25 somewhere and set it to "player" same problem (Crash at 96%).. I've placed nothing else on the Map !! My System: Win XP Proffesionall 32Bit 4Gb Ram Radeon HD 5450 Intel Core 2 Duo E 8500

I don't know which is the new screenshoot but i like the brighter one more..a big problem of Lockon FC 2 was that it was way to dark, and it somehow looked "painted". I think A-10C is brighter which makes it look more real. So you can always add some contrast in your Graphic card settings (Catalyst Control Center for example), also you can change the Gamma/Brightness and color settings so you can give the Sim a way new look.
