  1. Ok my initial tests, were not going so well. I had picked dynamic, generated a random system, quicksave, then fly about 10 times without a cloud in the sky, I was starting to wonder. So I set up standard weather with cloud coverage at like 7. Once I verified the sim was capable of producing clouds, I went back to dynamic. For some reason after that she worked like a charm. I tested it probably twenty more times and only twice I came up without a cloud in the sky, but that was probably due to at the end I begin changing settings myself and I probably really jacked it... With that being said all is right in the world, apparently the patch did corrupt the weather a bit, because I tried everything I have done here without success. Only one question left, does the system automatically get set once youve saved the weather settings? Or does this actually change and affect the weather? See attached.
  2. Yeah I had contacted Tharos and he promised full functionality on his end so I'm in the process of canning steam and doing a full install, although its taking a quite some time to download. In any event, once I'm back up and running I'll have all those posts removed since it seemed to have been an internal corruption with steam/1.1.0.8 manual patching... I was also having an issue with the TAD not showing purple/blue circles with the correct net set in MP so hopefully that'll be done and gone too. Thanks for verifying though, input is appreciated.
  3. Bauer, you should work for Raytheon, pure brilliance.
  4. I believe they give you the setting in accordance with IMC conditions guidelines. If you were flying blind you would have your face placed squarely in front of the altimeter, HSI, and all the other analog instruments making sure your not hitting the ground. It does not matter what elevation (Edit* the airport*) is actually at, that is required information for the pilot before he ever leaves destination.
  5. Just submitted a bug thread on dynamic weather for problems I am noticing in 1.1.0.8, am hoping others can verify. See: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75033 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=74960
  6. Ok well I gave it a shot. It looks like that method isnt working either. I set it, immediately save and fly and its clear, the same settings as standard which I set as 0/0/0 wind at 0/2000/8000. Also when I quit the mission and go back into the editor I click on weather and the settings under dynamic are changed, the most noticeable is it resets to cyclone, when I saved I had it set to none. Please see if you can replicate. And thanks for your help, invaluable. Edit** I have found that you are in fact correct. Turns out that I tried saving a few times using the quicksave on the left and that didnt work, I went back and tried the drop down save as. That did. Upon further testing Im finding that you must have the cursor active in the dynamic weather menu when you hit save or it wont take it, I think. Also the weather still doesnt reopen, meaning you go back into the editor and open the weather panel your settings go back to an autogenerated pattern. Im going to go ahead and submit this into a bug forum. I think its entirely too difficult to use, at least consistently.
  7. This is the topic I needed. Excellent, posts, I also hope ED makes it for a very long time.
  8. Or maybe I just dont speak for you, your entitled to your opinion, im entitled to mine, drop it thank you much. Dont attempt to nerf my sig and i wont attempt to nerf yours which obviously entails dangerous, irresponsible flying. BTW thats how I drive my truck. Edit* and a major rule in the forums is to keep posts on topic, please stop highjacking the thread, Im going to stop posting in it. Good luck.
  9. lol workarounds. This is how most missions actually come to be.
  10. No, I think you have to set the bomb in the inventory page, set the code on your tgp and then you can use it. I think, someone else?
  11. Probably something you could have posted directly to me, but obviously never will there be a statement made in the world that everyone agrees with. But, think about it, MW2 was sixty dollars when it came out I think, it gave you about ten hours of single player time and unlimited online time, well for a price on xbox.... It took me 3 days to read the manual, 2 days of training flights, and the last month to get comfortable flying this thing, and Im not there yet. Oh yeah and multiplayer is free of course. Now Ive been playing sims since janes longbow, janes F-18, the original falcon 4, and old school microsoft flight simulator. Maybe you havent and you dont know, but technology has come along quite nicely since then. And if youve ever done any scripting you know how difficult the programming for this stuff is. (Try building a full mission in ME with multiple flights and ground units all doing stuff, then multiply the time it took you to make it bug free by a thousand). Good luck. With that being said me and my best friend since I was about 11, were talking about 6 months ago. We agreed that there was no REAL simulators out there that were any good and we agreed the simulator market in the US is dead thanks to COD and FSX. Then I found black shark. Well... You can imagine our happiness... So yeah, there are people who would pay a fair price for what they are doing here at ED. Apparently your not one. Unfortunate but expected. I mean most of us paid more for our trackir, which is just about required to play this game. Hopefully their marketing model is built to push their first products out to a large audience creating a reputation, and as they grow and get better they may charge more. With a widespread reputation and well known history they may better get away with charging more, and hopefully they can stay in business. One can only hope. The US industry is dead, they need to stay in business. and yes I know about microsoft flight, but it no combat simulator. Oh yeah I think F4 was like sixty when it came out. That was what 1990? so about that drag and drop comms menu! (back on topic??anyone??)
  12. blah blah blah DANGER ZONE.... dude thats great....
  13. Yeah ^ I thought you have to individually set each code in the inventory page for the bomb, the profile doesnt really change the bomb. The profiles are only useful for releasing and delivery of the bomb in specific manners, once its off the jet the profile is pointless. Except for autolase I suppose...
  14. In almost every sim Ive played that is combat related, i.e. janes stuff and F4 I always overshoot the formation.... Course in longbow and FSX its a bit easier...
  15. lol, yeah not having a billion buttons at the tip of your fingers really affects your ability to effectively employ all the power this bird has to give. You shouldnt be landing on a carrier anytime soon, if ever in a hog... unless you set super high wind and attempt to fly it like a helicopter onto the deck, it really shouldnt be possible. A good thing to is how to use navigation. Tacan, the ILS, using the outer/inner beacons, and the HSI. Also learning how to fly using just the instruments, watching the climb/descent rate and using the HSI for navigation all the way to landing. basically flying blind. if you can do that you can fly almost any plane with your eyes closed. After that I would recommend refueling, that is probably the single hardest thing to do in this game, IMO. And flying formation with AI and tankers. That is equally difficult but something every military pilot can do with ease. Then move on to the CDU, and TAD. These are way important super useful tools. Id say its more important to figure out the tad when flying multiplayer than anything, but thats just my first impression. You master the flying side of the house all around, when it comes to actually shooting stuff itll be a piece of cake. Edit* I forgot to mention the importance of the instruments, at one point you will be shot at. You will be hit. You will lose SOME if not MOST of your avionics sometimes. At that point youll have to rely on the secondary indicators. Its important.
  16. Tonight was the first time I played multiplayer. I must say, the re-arm menu..... oh sweet 4 mav's and...... ?? Yep, its like playing the lotto, your just pickin numbers hoping you get what you want.... Theres gotta be a better way right?
  17. Thats interesting, the only way to close the window is to hit the orange x at the top right, the GUI states this cancels any changes, and I also notice that the weather in the brief is what was set in the static settings at the opening of the new mission. I think its like 3/5/7.... if its saving and updating my dynamic settings I should be flying in a 40,000 ft blizzard I think... I know in 1.1.0.7 I was using dynamic for every one of my missions as I was getting good at creating sporadic and random cloud cover at very admirable elevations. I am surely not getting the same results now. I'll do some more testing tomorrow. Anyhow, thank you for replying, I was starting to think no one was going to. Seems not as many people play with dynamic weather as I thought...
  18. Yeah, I took another look at it, I dont know how well they evade as I didnt put any launchers in, youll have to figure that out. AItest.miz
  19. I posted a comment on another 1.1.0.8 board but no one seems apt to respond or test. Anyhoo... My problem is setting the dynamic weather in 1.1.0.8. I find I set up all my settings and save it to a custom template but there is no place to apply the weather. In the GUI manual it states there should be an OK or CANCEL buttom at the bottom of the weather tab. I see neither. Also when I save those settings to the template, I save the mission then fly but I see in the briefing its only using the standard weather settings.... Is there something I'm doing wrong or are others seeing this too? Note* I love 1.1.0.8. Great progress. Thank you to anyone willing to help.
  20. No, I didnt think about that, I was only reading the flags in the dynamic weather mode... I guess I should read up on European meteo... doh.. Im really kind of just wondering does weather have an active effect on ATC and where can we find info on what the limits for ATC is. I dont mind blowing off ATC for my own purposes, but if Im trying to build a campaign, for public release (which I am) it makes a little difficult when ATC wont let you turn on the microwave...
  21. Ok I just did some testing on this. First the initial SEAD command is useless, far as I know. I created a waypoint near SAM1, had tornado engage it, have a trigger that sees SAM1 dead and flips flag 1. Ok. This is where it gets tricky... I set waypoint 2 to be further than when SAM1 gets killed, in case SAM1 isnt a direct hit, it needs time to burn and die, and I dont want my tornado to pass the waypoints before that flag is tripped. So I put it a little far away. Once im sure SAM1 is dead tornado passes wp2. WP0 options included evade fire, because vertical evasive lets the tornado go crazy, fly NOE and use up all of his gas as soon as possible. So I turned it off. I also turned on continuous search radar. Once tornado passes SAM1 dead waypoint, I set my advanced list as: 1>option, weapons free 2>option, evasive(this setting needs extensive testing, figure out what works best for your mission..) 3>Enroute task>SEAD>is user 1 4>Task>orbit>340knots, circle..... Ok so what happened is tornado passed wp SAM1 dead, and continued to the waypoint after, after reaching that waypoint it began orbit, reported on station, and began engaging sams. Edit** Keep in mind the tornado actually passed the waypoint I intended the orbit. It works but wtf?.... Im sure theres a solution and I hope this helps. Its like arma, if all else fails, it can be scripted. Maybe i'll take a look at your mission later and check that out.
  22. Well maybe a few reasons why they might not continue on SEAD, if they run out of ammo, or if they run out of gas and RTB, or depending on the priorities of the advanced waypoint menu. I think if orbit is first they will not leave it to do SEAD, or the other way around, I forget. The priorities are important when it comes to orbiting orders. I still have to check and see if aircraft are holding their prescribed speed in orbit.
  23. Cool I'll give it a shot, thanks.
  24. Yeah, thanks, being a noob is like disasterous so Ive been spamming the boards getting my posts up. lol. Yeah 15knots.. I think the A-10 can takeoff in crosswinds up to 20-25 but Im not sure. Either way with dynamic weather, with rain or snow.. its hard to get your departure base in a lower than 15 knot area... Theres gotta be some kind of possibility.. Edit** Yes, my freq's are right, Ive tested it with high winds, denied startup, then lowered the winds and I was cleared. Give it a shot.
