Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages

Because the Eagles TTA will always be sooner than the Flankers TTI. That will literally never change (barring major disadvatages). Cheapshot capability is even basically there now. -

That isn't absolutely true for two reasons. If counter measures are less effective, combined with the ER/ET double tap, both will likely still eat the ET. Radar missiles don't go completely dead anymore when no longer guided. So there is a chance that you'll fly into it if there isn't a sudden aggressive change in direction when the enemy is splashed. Even with flares inside a certain range you still need energy to maneuver to create separation. This is an easier task with the flanker than the eagle as speed bleeds while on idle. I don't think that there is really even a lack of respect, more than a subtle understanding of game mechanics. If I'm fired on by a flanker that I'm sure I've identified, I can extrapolate my window to react and respond. Even you mention 'luck', which isn't an ideal mindset for combat. -

The alternative in your scenario would nearly always result in mutual kills. -
While the current system isn't ideal, its really just not as hard as some make it out to be. The first reason is the age of the map. Unless you are particularly new to DCS, how can you not know by now where any given airfield is, on top of the starting airfield being already mapped to the first WP. This will be more of a hassle when the new maps are released, but then you'll still have the radio and/or F10 view. This is largely a non issue in the FC3 aircraft compared to WW2 ones. Radio the airfield, steer to the given heading, cycle ILSN to the airfield that most closely matches the range. Its only flaw is the areas with airfields close to one another, but then they are in visual range of each other. I'd get lost in the P-51 (the compass irks me) well before it could ever happen to me in the F-15. As much as ED have been moving to model the FC3 aircraft more accurately, short of full modeling, they likely aren't going to add unrealistic things to them.

Harder to find people with the radar!!?

Its not related to that at all. Other people periodically just don't show up in situations where definitely should. You most likely wouldn't even notice it happening. -

I don't think I ever got a nail from you. If you were in RWS/TWS at all, then the same clients must not be able to see each other at a given time. I continued to chase the flanker into sam coverage before coming around to see you. -

I still don't see the countermeasures as completely non functional. The missiles themselves seem to have a better ability to reacquire targets. Looking at 120s in tacview it looks like at times it will slightly begin to misguide as it bites on chaff, just to shift back into lead pursuit on the target if it has the energy. I've watched an R60 fired at me by the AI going for a flare just to turn back into me for throttling back up too early. In 1.2, once you could see a missile fail to guide at you, you knew it wasn't coming back. Just yesterday I evaded 3/4 TOR launches. One of which I feel should definitely have been able to kill me. Either it was pure luck, or the chaff does a little something. ERs still don't scare me. At least not the ones fired from lawn mowers. -
Yeah I prefer the variable zoom an axis provides, without having to dedicate any of my stick axes. The only "spare" one on my warthog get used for antenna elevation.

Windows 10.....Considering the upgrade

Did you try http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:404RcHdDiS8J:riftinfo.com/how-to-make-oculus-rift-work-with-windows-10+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us? -

Sound drivers in general must not be handled properly in the upgrade, as my creative card wasn't acting right either. -

Unless the mission starts paused, I doubt it was paused at all. This was on the 104th server. I wish I had been recording while flying live, since MP tracks are still unreliable. In that same track one of my squad mates shows up as a RED mig-21 (according to tacview) under a different persons name, when they were actually in an Eagle. The only reason I realized it was actually him (since he was 'missing' from the track) was him being in formation and firing AIM-120s at Winchester. -

The biggest advantage as a gamer (if you do more than DCS) is obviously DX12. There are lower level changes largely carried over from 8.1, but obviously with the more familiar GUI elements. -
I've actually mapped zoom to Track-IR Z, so the very act of moving closer to my screen will cause it to zoom.
-
Yes. Any loadouts you create in SP will show up in MP.
-
A note about creating your own loadouts in 1.5. They seem not to take until after exiting and reopening the Sim.

I have similar hardware as you except for the video card (ignore my sig, haven't updated it). Everything works fine in Win10. I did notice some strange behavior from doing an upgrade in place over 8.1 with some drivers. All that was required though was to uninstall and reinstall those. Be particularly mindful if you have any utilities installed from the MOBO manufacturer. -
The AI does behave somewhat differently in 1.5. I mostly fly against the MiG29 and Su27 though, and not sure yet if some of the differences are flight model changes for either my jet or theirs.

At least conventions exist to fix the depth perception issue.

Harder to find people with the radar!!?
blkspade replied to winchesterdelta1's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Ok so something is going on with the radar, but maybe not really the radar. On the server today my wingman how is right next to me calls out contact at 19nm. I'm looking right at where he should be on radar but only have a different bandit like 15nm behind him, both at low altitude. I am compelled to believe that he didn't actually see me either, as i never got a nail and he didn't engage me after splashing my wingman. After passing each other we did engage after both coming around. What's more interesting is after rewatching the track, he shows up on my radar in the track, though was never there in live play. The bandit was you Winchesterdelta btw, so did you see me initially right next to Crow? -
You probably misread my post, or the fact that I was quoting someone suggesting the mig-21 can engage targets below them by being inverted. So the statement is about the mig being at altitude, and how that would be a bad idea for them.
-
While true, good luck getting into range of a competent Eagle driver at altitude. Most anybody flying the 21 knows their best chance to get close is with terrain masking. They're a sitting duck at altitude 12-20nm from an Eagle, or basically any of the other 4th gen fighters.

I remember AMD chips being generally superior up until Intel's Core series. There were cases where AMD did poorly on synthetic benchmarks, solely due to cheats implemented in Intel's compiler.
-
Now that is an interesting excerpt, as it could illustrate the likelihood that the Russian side had the exact same problem designing their own flare rejection. In sim it seems there is only on flare, so its either gonna work, or not. I'm guessing the devs lean toward flares serving an actual purpose besides pretty screenshots.

This site claims that were actually available in small quantities for Desert Storm, but unused. It would have been the AIM-120A, which isn't in game anyway. http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/missile/aim-120.htm
