My problem is that we have no sense of inertia which in all flying is a rather key sensation, however when you remove sight it becomes rather crippling to not have. I'm also not overly keen on the new NVG style cos I don't believe it represents wearing goggles by just having a circle, a slight ellipsis, or two of those circles overlapped would be better. I digress, by having absolutely no vision in those models of the gazelle it's just impossible to fly without editing the config especially with 2.5 and the darkness that comes with. Muh immersion n realisms says keep it off and incorporate some kind of inertia meter of sorts for helis without NVGs but that's a lot of effort and coding to make work and then a lot more finicky testing to make it intuitive and good. whereas just editing a few characters in some line o code ain't that much of a problem with all the same gains.

Well that is exciting news! I'd certainly consider a Pricey investment in the resurgence of FFB through a base or whole stick set up, nothing quite like it for the helis and easily adapts for the jets with centering action. Used to use mine as a gear shifter for Truck simulator also :P Great bits of kit. All the best on these talks:joystick: P.S. You can have 'Poly Chopstick' It's solid gold I know ;)

I *think* they won't flicker so long as you turn on the UV lights last, will have to check.

There was a problem with immersion being a patent squatting dredge on the technology however that expires in 2019 afaik In any case, moves are still being made towards the tech oncemore, it's too good not too. Never know, maybe someone from Iris Dynamics might be able to help out Pat? Surely tis in their best interest to assist any developer with ffb implementation, especially one as valued to the community as yourselves and they are looking for partners :D Or what about VKB? they're already collaborating with leatherneck to make an F-14 a stick for a specific module, where's the stock in having a stickbase especially for all rotorcraft that can also be used with everything else? Aim for the sky, it's a flight sim after all :pilotfly:
-
Cheers for the clarification Pat. Still dissappointing to hear, hopefully the next module will have FFB thought out from the start. Is there not anything the FFB players might be able to do in order to help? It strikes me that VR is getting more popular and FFB steering wheels are around plenty for racing sim enthusiasts Does it not make more sense that the time is nigh for the ffb joystick to rise again and to continue developing FFB support rather than not? There's plenty of folk around here who have not only bought your module but trawled e-bay and otherwise to buy the last bastion of ffb2 sticks with which to fly it with because of just how good it is. Both your helicopter and the experience of ffb in it and other modules. Surely there's some stock in being that good? You have catalyzed many a player to experience ffb and the prospect of going back is horrifying, certainly a situation to take full advantage of and not shy away from don't you think? Personally I'd say go big, check out community interest and look into some collaboration with VKB or Thrustmaster et al to bring a modern FFB stick to market and ride that wave of hype. The passion and interest is certainly out there (even if some of it doesn't quite voice itself in a constructive way) Most importantly you could call it The "Poly Chopstick" :joystick::lol: Seriously though, folk will spend hundreds on a Warthog, but a new FFB stick? No contest, I know there's many others who would agree. So, where's the kickstarter where we can fund you for continued FFB support? :P

I am most intrigued... The Gazelle is what inspired me to create the frankenstick. Are you chaps by chance going to have a go at knocking out the deadzone? any attention to ffb is music to my ears! Always available for testing ;)

On the other hand there are those of us who went out an bought a FFB 2, ripped apart an X52 and built their own stick to better enjoy the magnificent gazelle you good folks have created. Tis a pleasure to fly, for that thankyou.

Exactly the same problem here with a 780 GTX Titan though, no vr

Any ideas how one might get ahold of a complete package to get this working in this day and age? As I said, I've tried a version of TS3 with the compatible API and Plugin file structure however couldn't find a version of appscanner to go along with. Would love to get this working, just keep hitting roadblocks trying to get all the right pieces of archived software together. is there a specific version I should use?
-
Cheers for the snappy response Towsim, that was quick. Not having a problem with the TS version, have reverted back to an older one with the same old plugin file structure (3.0.19.4) which aries seems to get on with. It says it's connected to DCS world, it gives us both our status in the teamspeak description. But no GUI/Radio panel shows up for either of us. My buddy did manage to mute himself and showed some frequencys selected via the TS3 description after using gossipbox but just can't get aries to do anything similar.
-
me and a friend cannot get this working for love nor money in DCS 1.5.6. Neither of us get any Aries UI when in game. Teamspeak just shows "Aries Radio info:"Cain" as OffGame No active frequency set." Using an old version of teamspeak which says its compatible. How is this thing supposed to work? tried simple radio which was fine but need to have the proper degredation effects otherwise there's no point.

Hey there Buzz, always nice to have a new Hawg pilot in the fray! Thought some of these reference materials might be of some use to you in taking the ugly bag of snakes and laying them out straight. HOTAS Commands By SOI A really helpful quick reference chart of all the various HOTAS controls and their function depending on what you have set as SOI. Everything on two pages at a glance and totally invaluable in my opinion. Emergency procedures Checklist A handy lil booklet for when things go pete tong and there's simply not enough time for a youtube video on the subject :)

VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack
Sadist_Cain replied to Hollywood_315's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This is an interesting one. Seems microsoft throws a fit trying to tell the difference between "defense" and "defence" with uk settings. Adding the command "defence" seems to fix things completey, something to consider in the next update Methinks hollywood. Also adding "engaged" seems to help va understand the entire string as sometimes itll think one is saying "engaged defence" -

Many thanks for the prompt response dude! Had tried the mystery command but I think the win 7 recognition was mangling my voice somewhat. Off to discuss the background of speech recognition with microsoft sam I go. -
VAICOM 2.0 for VoiceAttack

Got most of my problems worked out thus far, good immersion and nice to not have to keep looking at the F keys. Though just the wingman seems to like mangling every word I say and ignoring the rest. I'm lost at the moment with how to use the "other" menu for example I have several types of aircraft available to talk to on the AM radio but as they're not in my flight I don't know where to begin. Camp Yankee for example "requires" you contact Boar 2-1 using the other radio menu once on station, how would I do this? -

I am absolutely losing my mind here, lawd jesus help! Everything worked fine! used the SST Profiler to set the hat switch on my HOTAS to Spit out the appropriate Numpad keys for PTT, all set up and working fine. Start the game and PTT to say "Start Mission" Game doesn't unpause nor does it start itself. Then I lose all ability to PTT, the numpad keys on the keyboard do nothing, HOTAS does nothing. VA still sends out chatter and functions properly. Have deleted the profile and re-imported. Only way to restore functionality is to close and re open VA. Edit: seems to only happen with Defend Camp Yankee mission??? That's a real bummer if so, I greatly enjoy practicing on that. Edit 2: Nope, does the same thing on another air start mission and resetting the profile even without the game running causes all PTT input to magically vanish from the face of the damn earth. Edit 3: tried ramp starting on black sea, seems to work. Could I still do yankee outpost just without "mission start" at the beginning? particularly if I've just started the game and all the profiles have just been loaded anyway I don't see what the purpose is on the first mission. Edit 4: HUZZAH!!! Back to normal with 1.5 of VA, 1.6 is borked with Vaicom 2.0. That should be written somewhere in larger letters :) -
are you sure the engine was actually up and running hot and to speed? as far as I'm aware you need to get the engine up to speed with the motor switch on which will spin the blades up without burning fuel, then flip to normal (or IGN if you're screaming towards the ground at mach 3 with your hair on fire doing a windmill start) to start feeding fuel to the engine and sparking it. this is as I understand it but I'm still learning many systems myself

Thankyou good sir, I fully intend to replicate the effects in a track as it's happened to me twice now and I'm fairly sure I can figure out what's cracking. the effect is I have the HUD locked with Anapa as a steerpoint. The CDU repeater page on the MFCD is showing mark point A as it was just generated, and the steerpoint dial is set to MARK and as I understand it, therefore only markpoints should showing. DMS up n down nor the rocker will change the HUD steerpoint from Anapa nor will creating new mark points, however they all show as being created within the CDU. Mission and Flight plan all work properly, mark points is fixed on Anapa, when it shouldnt even be able to show it in the first place. Right on, now if I'm with you completely I can trade off the SPI to the TDC and be free to roam with the TGP, if summit is tasked with SPIing then it must continue to SPI :D that's exactly what I'd normally do, I'm just using it in this instance to confirm I set the mark right in the first place by checking it on the cdu, as I say and Airstrip coming up in mark mode is a bit off so a track will be on the way shortly. thanks muchly all for your prompt replies I think I've wrapped my head around this one at last :pilotfly:

howdy all, only been playing a week or so and my first post here so apologies if this has been asked before, I have searched but to no avail at finding someone with a similar query... firstly I hit upon what appears to be a bug with mark points, selecting the Mark dial on the CDU brings up Anapa airfield (not all the time, need to find out the exact circumstances) and dosnt give me any option to scroll through mark points I create. That's for another post but in short, I lost my ability to place and steer onto a Mark point. I thought I understood correctly that by using the TGP to set a SPI whilest in point track (or area) mode using tms fwd long it would set the SPI to that point, allow me to slew my tgp around and have a lookey about for other targets then use china hat fwd long to slave back to the SPI I created. reading the docs this apparently is not the case, instead the SPI will lock onto the TGP crosshairs and go wherever it goes. Yet with the TDC in the hud I can set the spi wherever I like on the ground? eh? :S so what on earth do I do... I've just got a JTAC in and I enter it all into the CDU and slew to the waypoint, I search for targets and away from the JTAC mark I find a truck so it's hard to find again when the JTAC waypoint is set as SPI, I want to set that truck as a SPI (preferably with the tgp) so I dont lose track of it and then be able to search around it for AA and if I don't find any auto slew BACK to the truck I set initially I'm more than happy doing this with mark points and queuing up targets A, B, C etc and slewing to them accordingly but how does one do this if my mark points have bugged out on me? Should I be setting the TGP as SPI on the truck, shift over my SOI to the hud and then (auto?) slew the TDC to the TGPs SPI then "hand over" the SPI to the TDC so I'd be free to move my TGP around without dragging the SPI all over the shop with it and then use china hat fwd long to track back onto the TDC SPI (which would be on said truck) Can't the TGP just set me a Dam SPI where I'm looking at the time and leave it there until I press tms fwd long to reset it?? :joystick: Many thanks
