  1. The stated minimum requirement for DCSW is 6Gb RAM, so that's probably the reason.
  2. VEAO have plans for the Rafale. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2122426 I wouldn't hold your breath for an F-16. DCS F/A-18C might satisfy your multi-role needs. :)
  3. The speed of sound at sea level is not relevant here. 1650 ÷ 2.5 = 660, which is the speed (in MPH) of sound at 35,000 feet. The military uses knots, not MPH. At 35,000 feet, the speed of sound is 574 knots. So, Mach 2.5 = 1650 MPH = 1435 knots. This is a number that you certainly can see in the Eagle's cockpit. In the lower left corner of the VSD, you'll see your ground speed. In the lower right, your true airspeed. I just took the Eagle up to 35,000. At Mach 2.500, my ground speed and my true airspeed both showed 1440 knots.
  4. @ Rivvern: You made a choice. The consequences of that choice should have been quite clear to you when you made it. You now regret that choice, and are demanding something for free. This appears logical to you? It would certainly be a fantastic thing for ED to do, but, they owe you nothing, and demanding something you're not entitled to is precisely the wrong way to go about it.
  5. I suggest that you read outlawal2's comment again, because that's not what he said.
  6. I voted Tomcat, but if the F-8 Crusader was on the list, I'd have voted for that. The Phantom was a fantastic multi-role aircraft, but the Crusader was a thoroughbred fighter.
  7. I don't know. It seems it was a temporary glitch on Steam's end.
  8. Sorted! Steam download is now as it should be. All is good. :)
  9. This weekend, I decided to move some data around on my drives. This involved uninstalling DCS World, and Steam itself. I then re-installed Steam, and DCS World to a freshly formatted drive. When I tried to launch the game, I got the error message "Failed to Start Game (Missing Executable)". So, I verified the game cache, and tried again. Same error. At this point, I navigated to the DCS World folder to discover....nothing but my modules. There's no base game installed. [\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld] contains one folder called mods, which contains all of my modules, and one file, called "_DCS_Steam" with no file extension. That's it. The enirety of the base game is missing, and 5 attempts (so far) to re-download it have all yielded the same result. Can anyone help me please?
  10. Could we all please stop spreading this terrible misinformation please? Thanks. I have 237 Steam games. 236 of them work flawlessly on Windows 8.1. edit: The one game that doesn't work happens to be the worst game that I ever paid money for - The godawful 2011 Top Gun game that I don't miss one bit.
  11. @lazduc: There was a Flanker Simulator for the Amiga? I thought I had played every single Amiga flight sim. Are you sure you're remembering that correctly? A Google search gives no relevant results whatsoever. @jens198: Great! Bookmarked. Going to start reading now. edit: F-16 Combat Pilot was probably my favourite of the Amiga flight sims, btw. Delighted to see it again. I couldn't tell you how many times I read the manual cover to cover. :)
  12. I didn't know this was possible. I just opted in via steam, and have only 17 minutes to wait. :D
  13. I don't comment often, but felt compelled to address this comment. Of the four aircraft you mention at the end of your post (Spit, 109, Harrier, GR4) three are already in development. Do it without back-seat functionality? No. DCS World is not about half-assing things. How can earth can you say that an advanced jet trainer with combat capabilities has no place in a combat flight simulator? That's just crazy. Telling someone how to run their business? Really? Please address your ignorance and your disrespectful attitude. Neither will go down well here.
  14. I had already checked before posting, thanks. I changed nothing. My logbook has reset, my config has reset, and my mission are gone. :( edit: I should mention that I'm using the Steam version.
  15. Just chiming in to say exactly the same has happened to me. I loaded up DCSW today to find that all my created missions are gone, my settings (including all of my control mappings!) were reset to default, and my logbook is gone too. To say that I'm unhappy would be an understatement.
  16. It's only a partially regenerating system. Only lightly damaged vehicles will auto-regen. Let's say you're in a tank, and you take a hit from an RPG. You can retreat to cover, and after a time, your vehicle with auto-regen, providing that you don't take another hit. If you do take another hit, your tank may become disabled (movement will slow to a crawl or stop altogether), and your armour will not automatically regenerate. At this time, you will need to repair your tank manually. While your vehicle is disabled like this, the weapons will still function so that you can provide covering fire for those that are repairing your tank. Sounds like a sweet system to me. It should put an end to engineers endlessly chasing after damaged vehicles being driven by oblivious drivers. :) You can read more about it here: http://tinyurl.com/3ezuzww
