Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
gregzagk replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
The side which will not be able to comeback (for various reasons) in it's prime time, will get to the defensive. That is how it worked so far. Both sides coordinate but eventually one will lose in the end by a wrong move. Greg -
Crash is your man for this :) He should be on tonight as nobody really knows what he has in the server... It's a mystery :P Example

Right now when a "DCS stopped running" occurs in our server it closes completely so that we can see it off in the map. So it doen't stay hanged. Crash did it through the Windows somehow. I will tell him to post how. ;) Greg

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
gregzagk replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
It's the 5th round and yet there are the same posts :D Whatever is valid for you (Red in that case) is valid for the other players and side. So if Blue capture FARPS and Reds recaptured them hundred of times during this round then it's not impossible at all. The truth is, that comes out everytime from the reports and logs, that both sides have their chances and that the normal time of each round is around ~6 days. The total score is 2-2 for Red and Blue during the previous rounds. Each round is won by various circumstances such as player/squadrons availability, concentration, good decisions, server stability etc. Both sides have great pilots and squadrons but some of them may be unavailable at times or can't join the server etc. I am amazed that you see this map status and say that the round ended. It's quite possible it ends but Reds and Blue side overcomed many times from situations like that. For example there were times that Red guys took over all the east airbases in just a morning after the Blue assault. I remember my self talking with guys and coordinating the counter attack. Of course in this round we have the fuel variable which complicates things and gets it more dynamic. So I think it's better to try having a nice time, coordinate with your guys, laugh and prepare for the next when you lose & enjoy more when you win :) * When I wrote about side changes I just ment that time to time some guys or squadrons request to change coalition and that it will still happen in the next rounds. Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
gregzagk replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Yes there are differences day by day. Reds were more yesterday especially in the morning etc. Of course teams will change from round to round. It will be really interesting to fly side by side in a round  Greg -
Nice! Welcome gents. We have a lot of work to do  Greg

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5

Yes, exactly. The system works outside keeping the data in separate files from the mission. We didn't use the warehouse capacities at that point. Greg -
Hello and welcome to the event :) - Both sides use same modules except from the FC3 aircraft. Blue side operates with F-15C's & Red side operates with SU-27 & MiG-29S. - You can fly with F-15C,SU-27,MiG-29, MiG-21, M2KC, SU-25T, A-10C, KA-50, UH-1H, Mi-8 or play as ground commander (Combined arms) - The period is modern but there is a limitation in the Air to Air weapons. AIM-120s, R-27ER, R-27ET, R-77 are not available. - Squadrons and lonewolves coordinate through the buddyspike forums & teamspeak to achieve their goals. While not everyone are experienced in this, we see a great improvement and effort from most participants. - In the first post of this thread you can find the SOP pdf file. It explains how the features of the campaign work and what is the procedure to fly. You have to decide along with your side which targets to attack or defend depending on the current situation. You can check the situation from the real time web map: http://opblueflag-buddyspike.rhcloud.com/ - Blue Flag is a MP dynamic campaign. There are standard things going on (repairing-capturing system) but the decisions and coordination of humans (it's PvP with some AI aircraft) makes it dynamic. Greg

The Server machine was on fire. Took ~30 minutes to bring it back cause of highly Ram usage... What did you do??? :D Up and running again. Sorry for the delay. Greg -
But... this is the buddyspike server :D We are doomed! On a serious note we are looking into this matter for the next rounds. Greg

Working on an alternative. Password wouldn't help either as there were 96 pilots in the ts. Didnt see anyone out of the TS in the server also in yesterday's start. Greg -

Thank you all for your kind words and feedback. @LevelPulse please check the first post for the SOP pdf file. It explains how the campaign's features work and what are the objectives. A pilot can lose more than 4 lives If he explodes in the ground, rescued by a Chopper or If flying with choppers. So there shouldn't be an issue there. Working on the full server issue though. Greg -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 5
gregzagk replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Yeah sorry for that. Joined the channel to talk to you but didn't catch up as you had to leave. This had nothing to do with gameplay but with constant server crashes due to mass connection at start. The thing is that DCS has an issue when mass connections occur at the same time in a server. That causes crashes at mission restarts. We fixed it partially by setting a 20 seconds delay to help it load scripts first. But then it can happen again. If it manages to hold for ~10 minutes then it is highly possible it will stay alive for the 3 hours session. This also is the reason why a server may crash when 60 players are flying at the same time as there are massive connection and disconnection in the background at the same time. So the guys who listened to the request helped to hold the server up. Unfortunately the hype was big and everyone wanted to join so many pressed the button earlier... We had 96 on teamspeak with 59 available slots on the server, some had to stay out of it including our selves (buddyspike team). We hope we will be able to deliver more slots in the future. Thanks for your understanding. Yes only Kub, for this round it will stay as it is unfortunately in order not to mess with something that we didn't test before. Will gather feedback for the next one ;) Greg -
Yes having some power outage issues in the area possible due to the weather conditions. Hope it goes away soon and of course before official start  Thanks all for registering. Preparing the updated lists. Greg
