  1. Great resource :)
  2. On the Reverb, Motion smoothing or I think its reprojection equivalent in WMR seems to be done in WMR only. I noticed the settings were gone in SteamVR when I went from Vive pro to Reverb (referring to steam vr beta). Here is a previous thread for WMR https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=228378 . I think you can ignore the Target render scale as I vaguely remember reading somewhere it was sorted in an update for the Reverb.......or does anyone know if we still need to add it as the line is gone completely in beta?
  3. I tried to do the regedit and the key is gone in the latest hololens drivers so I added it and set it 40 minutes but it didn't work on my system. Still timed out if I left the system for 15 minutes. They may have changed the location of it in the registry or disabled it. Anyone have any further info as to the location etc??? Burn in or image persistence is rare on LCD panels as far as I am aware. If it happens it is over an extremely long period.
  4. I did the test as follows....dunno if it helps?. Had the reverb running and DCS running. My MB is essentially same as yours. Let me know if you need it done another way as I dont know this app :) USBdeview HP reverb
  5. DCS Frame rate Right Cntrl + Pause both in VR and flat screen. FPSVR app (available on steam) for frame rate and frame timing in VR MSI Afterburner for fps, gpu, cpu and memory loads etc on flat screen and VR mirror screen. FRAPS for fps benchmarking for average, min and max over a peroid of time...ie 60 sec and also does vid capture.
  6. One improvement I use alleviates the cable issue is this VR cable management system. There are several around for $20 or you can get the bits off ebay or office depot for about $12. I have one above the computer and another above my head to take the weight.
  7. Yeah. So I went and tried both with and without steam beta with Harlikwins original 108%SS steamVR and and DCS PD 1.8 and it dropped my PG freeflight from 65fps down to 28-30fps. Then tried with his new settings of Steam VR 160% and DCS PD of 1.0 on Steam beta and regular brought fps back up to 65 avg fps.....of course it dropped to 48-50 ish when I flew down low through the main drag. Bare in mind it could be my CPU which is on a 6 core I5 9600 which wont allow me to get to 1.8 DCS PD and remain smooth. Which is why I suggested Steam 100% as a starting point and move up from there..... as everyone has different CPUs and Graphics cards...ie a 1080 on a 6700 might struggle at my settings.
  8. Cheers Harlikwin. Maybe the draw distance issue with DCS and DCS PD was my problem and by dropping DCS PD to 1.0 fixed my performance issue hence my results......Can you elaborate on this issue as there seem to be quite a few with performance issues that looking at their specs should not be the case.
  9. Your probably getting a bit frustrated at this point. I would put it down to the Reverb as it was a similar issue to the early adapters with cable and usb probs so bite the bullet and get a new one sent. One of the bad ones might have slipped though into the new batch. Its a pain in the ass but I assure you its worth it when you get a good one. I cant go back to my Vive Pro after this. I am assuming you got a gen 2. Mine is made in week 30 and hasnt had a single issue. What is the 4th 5th and 6th digits in the serial number. It should say 930, or 924 etc. If its 929 or above Ithink, it should be a new one 2nd gen. There is a post earlier on in this thread with the corresponding dates etc.
  10. What power supply are you running. I had usb issues when I ran a 750w and upped to 850w and no usb issues since. I also have an Incitek internal PCI usb 3 hub which I had to use previously with other HMDs but now the reverb is direct on MB top usb ports. I have same MB. H version not the E version. Unfortunately if you tested on another PC you may have faulty Reverb/Cable.....hope not!
  11. Yep install the other two.....Steam VR and WMR for steam.
  12. Its in Steam Developer settings. With Steam VR open click Menu (top left). Open Settings. Select Developer (bottom menu). Tick first item "Start SteamVR when a VR application starts" I have also added my non steam DCS to the Steam Game library. I don't know if that makes any difference to auto loading as I did it years ago but it did allow me to launch DCS using my Vive from the Steam home....but found if I do that with the Reverb I get a performance hit so only launch from desktop for the Reverb.....seems fine with the Vive pro.
  13. Yeah....tried your shadow settings and got it magically disappearing as I move my view. It maybe not related to Reverb as looks like a shaders issue....Do you use kegetys shader? If I get time I might try with the Vive Pro later. Ok tried Reverb in the Non Beta mainstream DCS and shadows are fine so it appears to only be a problem in in the Beta with or without the shader mod.
  14. Just jumped into the UH1 to test it and found that it was fine on open ground but shadow completely disappeared over the ramp area. Didn't get what you described but it may depend on what settings you have for shadows. Mine is set on Flat. On the multiple DCS boot up methods the only one I found to cause issues was if I boot DCS from inside the Steam VR home using their wall VR menu. Booting direct from DCS desktop icon with VR autodetect set in steam VR and from the WMR virtual desktop seem fine and smooth.
  15. The sheer number of pixels being pushed seems to have knocked the DCS PD setting over a cliff with the Reverb and looks like an efficiency problem. Forget using DCS PD for now. Set it to 1.0 and start there using Steam to make any SS changes. Because of the high res of the displays you need very little super sampling to get a good image. As many have said over the last couple of pages set Steam to 100% as a starting point to tune and move it up from there. Even a bump from DCS PD 1.0 to 1.2 will grind everything to a halt. With reprojection off I am averaging 6o to 70 fps in most instant action scenarios with med to high game settings on the DCS beta. Which leaves plenty of headroon to use reprojection if I choose to. It kind of shocked me as my vive pro runs ok with DCS PD at 1.8 to 20 and steamSS at 140%. I am currently running Steam VideoSS @120 Steam application at 100% and getting great visuals. For a higher bump use Kegetys Shader mod. I have not tried these settings in the stable release so that may be where there seem to be some discrepancies in peoples performance as well. Settings F18_FPS_Gulf
  16. Just check it has the latest drivers installed in Windows Device manager. Click on the headset and in the properties tab hit the update driver tab. It should have the latest hololens driver.....from memory V 10.18xxxxxx It may not be the problem as that issue sounds suspiciously like the old cable problem. The 931 manufacture date is supposed to be the gen 2 version......same date as mine but no issues yet. So HP needs to hear about this if it is the cable. The HP VR techs over on the reddit forum seem quite responsive to any new issues arising. https://www.reddit.com/r/HPReverb/
  17. I just use the single DCS icon click with the Reverb and it opens Steam VR and WMR automaticlly and straight into game. Put Headset on and select menu items and fly. It works the same with my Vive pro as well without the WMR. I dont go into Steam Home at all any more as found opening DCS from the steam VR menu was causing stutters and lost image quality. But I have to agree WMR is an extra layer we could do without as I just find it annoying and unneccesary. It would be good if it would just work in the background and be invisible to only call it up to make setting changes. There is a setting in Steam VR to autodetect VR games. I think its under dev options IIRC. Then it should be good to go automatically and It boots WMR as well.
  18. WMR and Steam VR must be active (or set to launch on VR detect which sounds like your case). You can then launch from your desktop as normal if you have the standalone DCS World. If your version of DCS is the steam version then steam launch would be necessary or the Steam DCS shortcut. Steam VR can be set to automatically detect VR games and launch but I find that very hit and miss when using WMR headset. It works fine for the Vive pro. As above I believe ED was hinting that Windows Mixed Reality would be native at a later date but don't know if that's going to happen or even possible. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone?
  19. For those looking for a 3D printed prescription lens holder I found the Vive pro one designed for use with Gear VR lens mod drops straight in. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2869900 Use it with the $9.95 Zenni optical 41mm round lens. I found it might be a bit deep and push against my cheeks so I cut off about a third of an inch off the bottom using Prussia slicr and it fits great (rotate 180deg to print with no supports at .3 Layer height). They drop in and are held by the face mask....you could probably tape it in but mine seem secure. These are the lenses https://www.zennioptical.com/p/metal-alloy-full-rim-frame-with-spring-hinge/4500?skuId=450015
  20. Yep getting it also on gen 2 Reverb with fpsvr. Funily enough I didnt even think of reporting it and just ignored it as I was only checking Fpsvr occasionally. If it was onscreen permanently for me then I would have been bitchin'.
  21. Thank you kindly for the update. Works well with the HP Reverb in VR. Always appreciate your work and contibutions to the community. Cheers :)
  22. If you download and try Kegetys shader Mod you should see a reduction in haze (assuming its in game environmental haze your referring to) and increased VR performance depending on your system. It is also essentially creating a smaller area of MSAA if you use it, somewhat similar to fixed foveated rendering for AA and supersampling. On my machine I get a good 20% increase which I use to up other graphics settings to higher levels for similar fps........your mileage may vary though and some folks dont like the minor atifacts which I dont notice anyway. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 For those new to WMR/Steam VR, I am also getting a smoother and crisper experience by not launching DCS from within the Steam house/ home and launching direct from desktop. This has been mentioned a couple of times in this thread previously but thought I would mention it again. No idea why it is happening but definately looks better and smoother. Hope that helps. :)
  23. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10J44h_lSLYa86myaoCNSjvMP0CCHURVr/view?usp=drivesdk @Secoda is this what you wanted? Under Steam VR hardware.....listed as HP Reverb VR Headset VR1000-2xxx0. Bare in mind this is an Australian version and may vary from other countries as I noticed the model number was different from US Version on the respective websites.
  24. My Australian one I ordered on Wed is week 30 so looks in the clear. Used for about 4 hours tonite with nil issues. No set up required, just plugged it in and straight into WMR room and then into DCS. Drivers etc all installed previously from O+ and lenovo so virtually plug n play.
  25. Just ordered from Australian HP site. In stock and $999aud ($678usd) inc GST and free delivery. Nice change to see we are not being price gouged which is the norm over here. So without our gst tax we are paying approx $618 usd equivalent. Very fair.
